BACKGROUND Global education in psychiatry is heavily influenced by knowledge from Western,high-income countries, which obscures local voices and expertise.AIM To adapt a human simulation model to psychiatric education in a context that is specific to local languages and cultures.METHODS We conducted an observational study consisting of six human simulation sessions with standardized patients from two host countries, speaking their native languages, and following an adaptation of the co-constructive patient simulation(CCPS)model. As local faculty became increasingly familiar with the CCPS approach, they took on the role of facilitators—in their country’s native language.RESULTS Fifty-three learners participated:19 child and adolescent psychiatry trainees and 3 faculty members in Türkiye(as a group that met online during 3 consecutive months);and 24 trainees and 7 faculty in Israel(divided into 3 groups,in parallel in-person sessions during a single training day). Each of the six cases reflected local realities and clinical challenges, and was associated with specific learning goals identified by each case-writing trainee.CONCLUSION Human simulation has not been fully incorporated into psychiatric education:The creation of immersive clinical experiences and the strengthening of reflective practice are two areas ripe for development. Our adaptations of CCPS can also strengthen local and regional networks and psychiatric communities of practice. Finally, the model can help question and press against hegemonies in psychiatric training that overshadow local expertise. 展开更多

Its structure and principle are introduced. The DSREN vision system can perform somemovements simulating human eyes and neck by means of four rotating joints, and realize preciseobject recognizing and distance measuring in all orientations. The mathematic model of the DSHENvision system is built, and its movement equation is solved. The coordinate error and measureprecision affected by the movement parameters are analyzed by means of intersection measuringmethod. So a theoretic foundation for further research on automatic object recognizing and precisetarget tracking is provided. 展开更多

This article introduces the methods for testing and verifying the performance of a new type of oxygen supply apparatus as well as the performance of the Environment Control and Life Support System(ECLSS)in the airtight unmanned space capsule, with a simulated human load instead of animals or human in China's Manned Space Program. The simulated human load also supplies a dummy for the spaceship to instal the envirmental testing equipment,to wear spacesuit, and to match the weight in spaceship. 展开更多

Physical geography and human geography are the principal branches of the geographical sciences. Physical process simulation and human process simulation in geography are both quantitative methods used to recover past events and even to forecast events based on precisely determined parameters. There are four differences between physical process simulation and human process simulation in geography, which we summarize with two specific cases, one of which is about a typhoon's development and its precipitation, and the other of which is regarding the evolution of three industrial structures in China. The differences focus on four aspects: the main factors of the research framework; the knowledge back-ground of the systematic analysis framework; the simulation data sources and quantitative method; and the core of the study object and the method of forecast application. As the human-land relationship is the key ideology of the man-land system, the relationship between the physical and human factors is becoming increasingly close at present. Physical process simulation and human process simulation in geography will exhibit crossing and blending in the future to reflect the various geographical phenomena better. 展开更多

The photo-thermal effect has been hypothesised to be one of the most possible biophysical mecha-nisms for laser-cochlea stimulation. The majority focus on animals like the guinea pig, from which a num-ber of valuable results have been gained. However, in light of the increasing need to improve laser safety, it has became necessary to find out whether studies on animals can shed light on safe laser parameters in the human cochlea. 展开更多

Human posture prediction is a key factor for the design and evaluation of workspaces, in a virtual environment using virtual humans. This work presents a new interface and virtual environment for the direct human optimized posture prediction (D-HOPP) approach to predicting realistic reach postures of digital humans, where reach postures entail the use of the torso, arms, and neck. D-HOPP is based on the contention where depending on what type of task is being completed, and human posture is governed by different human performance measures. A human performance measure is a physics-based metric, such as energy or discomfort, and serves as an objective function in an optimization formulation. The problem is formulated as a single-objective optimization (SO0) problem with a single performance measure and as multiobjective-optimization (MOO) problem with multiple combined performance measures. We use joint displacement, change in potential energy, and musculoskeletal discomfort as performance measures. D-HOPP is equipped with an extensive yet intuitive user-interface, and the results are presented in an interactive virtual environment. 展开更多

Objective:The main objective of this initiative was to present evaluation results from an inno-vative adaptation of the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics(ALSO)training course. We modified the traditional ALSO curriculum in our institution by adding hands-on training in laceration repairs and simulation scenarios on acute maternity care. Methods:The modified ALSO provider course was designed to enhance cognitive and proce-dural skills of health care professionals in managing obstetric emergencies.Forty-nine participants attended this course and completed a posttraining survey.Descriptive statistics were used to de-scribe the participant-reported assessment scores for the ALSO course on three domains(subject knowledge, organization and clarity, and teaching effectiveness)for each of 12 course topics. Results:Evaluation of the results showed a high rate of trainee satisfaction as evidenced by the mean assessment scores across all topics ranging from 4.80 to 4.98(out of 5.00).All trainees said they would refer others to the course. Our modified ALSO course effectively addressed the important needs of primary care physicians involved in maternity care, especially in underserved communities where specialized obstetric care is not readily available. Both simulation scenarios and workshops using simulated human tissue provide a better foundation before formal training. Conclusion:Given the changing legal and regulatory climate,we expect that learning to treat complex obstetric situations on the job will become increasingly risky. With this in mind, both simulation scenarios and workshops using simulated human tissue will provide a better foundation before formal training. 展开更多
