The proposed method, named illuminant locality preserving projections (ILPP), exploited illuminant directions to alleviate the effect of illumination variations on face recognition. The face images were first projected into low dimensional subspace, Then the ILPP translated the face images along specific direction to reduce lighting variations in the face. The ILPP reduced the distance between face images of the same class, while increase the dis tance between face images of different classes. This proposed method was derived from the locality preserving projections (LPP) methods, and was designed to handle face images with various illumi nations. It preserved the face image' s local structure in low dimensional subspace. The ILPP meth od was compared with LPP and discriminant locality preserving projections (DLPP), based on the YaleB face database. Experimental results showed the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm on the face recognition with various illuminations.展开更多

The experimentally acquired fluorescence spectra are in accordance with the previous measurements on soluble samples. The fluorescence spectra for a mixture of vitamins bl, b2 and b6 with different concentrations have been investigated, and the fluorescence mechanism is explained on the basis of moleoalar struchture Possible reasons of the blue-shift of the fluorescence peak and enhancement of the peak power are explained as well. The advantages of solid powder method is analyzed and discussed.展开更多

The highest pressure is about 500 GPa after using the multilayer target design Al/Au/Al/LiF and -10^13 W//cm2 laser pulse illuminated on the planar Al target, which generates the spatial uniformity to 〈1% over 500 μm on the ablation layer. A 2-μm-thick Au layer is used to prevent the x-ray from preheating the planar ablation Al layer and window material LiF. The imaging VISAR system can be used to record the abrupt loss of the probe beam (λ= 532 nm) caused by absorption and reflection of 20-μm, 30-μm and 40-μm-thick Al, i.e., the blanking effect. Although there are slight shocks in the target, the peak pressure 500 GPa, which is the highest data up to now, is obtained with ramp-wave compression.展开更多

The as-prepared TiOe/ITO films were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and photoelectrochemical measurements. Their photocatalytic (PC) and photoelec- trocatalytic (PEC) activities were evaluated based on the results of methyl orange dye (MO) degradation experiments in aque- ous solution. The difference between the front side (EE, electrolyte/electrode interface) and the back side (SE, sub- strate/electrode interface) illumination was evaluated in both photocurrent and MO degradation experiments. The effect of the film thickness on degradation rate by PEC under the two illumination directions was also studied. Stability of TiO2/ITO film electrode was investigated in repetitive degradation experiments. Overall, the TiO2/ITO film with thickness ranging from 321 to1440 nm deposited by MOCVD method is an effective photoelectrode for MO degradation under SE illumination in PEC reaction system.展开更多

The scattering intensity signal measured at azimuthal angle φ=0° is extracted for analysis. By performing nonlinear regression fitting on the experimental signal to the Henyey-Greenstein phase function, the anisotropy factor is determined. The experiments with tissue phantom consisting of the aqueous suspension of polystyrene microspheres are carried out. The results show that the measured anisotropy factor is well described by Mie theory.展开更多
