This paper describes the development of a model for unbounded heterogeneous domains with radiation damping produced by an unphysical wave absorbing layer. The Perfectly Matched Layer(PML) approach is used along with a displacement-based finite element. The heterogeneous model is validated using the closed-form solution of a benchmark problem: a free rod with two-part modulus subjected to a specified time history. Both elastically supported and unsupported semi-infinite rods with different degrees of inhomogeneity and loading are considered. Numerical results illustrate the effects of inhomogeneity on the response and are compared with those for equivalent homogeneous domains. The effects of characteristic features of the inhomogeneous problem, presence of local maxima and cut-off frequency are determined. A degenerate case of a homogeneous semi-infinite rod on elastic foundations is produced by tending the magnitude of the foundation stiffness to zero. The response of the latter is compared with that of a free rod. The importance of proper selection of the PML parameters to highly accurate and efficient results is demonstrated by example problems. 展开更多

In the same mode,there are discrete samples belonging to this mode. Therefore,it is important to consider the samples which are sparse in the mode.To solve this issue,a new approach called density-based support vector data description( DBSVDD) is proposed. In this article,an algorithm using Gaussian mixture model( GMM) with the DBSVDD technique is proposed for process monitoring. The GMM method is used to obtain the center of each mode and determine the number of the modes. Considering the complexity of the data distribution and discrete samples in monitoring process,the DBSVDD is utilized for process monitoring. Finally,the validity and effectiveness of the DBSVDD method are illustrated through the Tennessee Eastman( TE) process. 展开更多

The goal of this paper is to provide an approach to investigate the variation of fiber quantity in a certain cross-section of the drafting zone. This model with discrete-event simulation( DES)method was presented to simulate the dynamic drafting process. This model described the behavior of individual fibers,which was divided into four phases and simulated by corresponding modules. Three sets of processing conditions in industry were simulated and demonstrated the applications of this model. The comparison between experiments and simulation results could also validate this model. This model could be used to simulate various drafting process with appropriate drafting settings. 展开更多
