Soft soil has low shear strength and its density is high;construction of embankments on them would cause problems such as large and non-uniform subsidence. One way to avoid these subsidence is using of geo-grid combined with cement and lime columns. Geo-grids due to their tensile strength, and cement and lime columns due to their bearing capacity and their body friction, reduce embankment subsidence. Extensive researches have been done in order to reduce the subsidence of the embankments located on the roads, but few studies have being done about the inclined embankments on soft soil layers. In this paper, the road embankment has been located on inclined soft soil layers;the study will try to reduce embankment subsidence and uniform them using geo-grid combined with cement and lime column subsidence. The results show that the realization of this issue will cause subsidence reduction and uniformity in the embankment surface. 展开更多

In this paper,we study the onset and development of three-dimensional convection in a tilted porous layer saturated with a liquid. The layer is subjected to a gravitational field and a strictly vertical temperature gradient.Typically, problems of thermal convection in tilted porous media saturated with a liquid are studied by assuming constant different temperatures at the boundaries of the layer, which prevent these systems from supporting conductive(non-convective)states.The boundary conditions considered in the present work allow a conductive state and are representative of typical geological applications. In an earlier work,we carried out a linear stability analysis of the conductive state. It was shown that at any layer tilt angles, the most dangerous type of disturbances are longitudinal rolls. Moreover,a non-zero velocity component exists in z-direction.In the present work, threedimensional non-linear convection regimes are studied. The original three-dimensional problem is reduced to two-dimensional one with an analytical expression for the velocity z-component v_(z)=v_(z)(x,y).It is shown that the critical Rayleigh number values obtained through numerical solutions of the obtained 2D problem by a finite difference method for different layer inclination angles, are in a good agreement with those predicted by the linear theory. The number of convective rolls realized in nonlinear calculations also fits the linear theory predictions for a given cavity geometry.Calculations carried out at low supercriticalities show that a direct bifurcation takes place. With increasing supercriticality,no transitions to other convective regimes are detected. The situation studied in this problem can be observed in oil-bearing rock formations under the influence of a geothermal temperature gradient, where the ensuing fluid convection can affect the distribution of oil throughout the layer. 展开更多

According to the structural characteristics of gently inclined thin layer rock mass in which lots of weak interlayer existed, the concept of gently inclined thin layer weakness structure was proposed. If single-borehole measuring method of the acoustic along the conventional arrangement mode was used in measuring the broken rock zone in this structure, the change of the relationship curves (Vp-L) between acoustic p-wave velocity (Vp) and borehole depth (L) would present the irregular feature due to the mechanical characteristics of layered rock mass and harmful effects of weak interlayers, and the scope of broken rock zone couldn't be defined quickly.Based on the analysis of the me- chanical characteristics of layered rock mass, the propagation rule of acoustic and distri- butions characteristics of plastic zone and slip zone in layered rock mass, new arrange- ment mode of acoustic measuring boreholes for broken rock zone in gently inclined thin layer weakness structure was proposed.Namely, the measuring boreholes in two sides were parallel to the strata, the measuring boreholes in the roof and floor perpendicular to the strata.Besides the controlling depth of the measuring boreholes in the scope of the large plastic zones or the large slip zones should be increased.Engineering example showed that new acoustic measuring boreholes arrangement mode had the better appli- cability and could determine the scope of the broken rock zone in the gently inclined thin layer weakness structure quickly. 展开更多
