The lean product development process that changes the shell, defined under the light of the variables created by the competitive conditions, is today measured by the value flow efficiency and the global market spread of the final product. Consequently, the lean product development approach, which aims to identify and purify all the wastes that do none value or create value to the system or cause burdens in the new product development process, is shaped by step-by-step approvals in the flow. In the main automotive industry company practices within the scope of the research (3 national, 3 international), the beginning of the concept of lean in design is to define and optimize the steps in the product development process under the value stream map. Therefore, the product function for which the customer has paid for, the function of the new product or the physical structure used to meet the needs in question, the comfort, life, experience, innovations of the scope that constitute the new product concept are planned and verified and implemented in the simplified automotive design stages at the beginning of the lean product development process. Surface mining operations extract a large quantity of waste material,which is generally disposed into a dump area.This waste can cause a series of environmental problems ranging from landscape deterioration to acidic ...Surface mining operations extract a large quantity of waste material,which is generally disposed into a dump area.This waste can cause a series of environmental problems ranging from landscape deterioration to acidic water generation and water pollution.Therefore,mine waste management is a significant task in mining operations.As known,in strip mining,the overburden is not transported to waste dumps but disposed directly into adjacent strip which was mined out.This concept can be adapted for mine planning of relatively horizontal deposits through a mixed integer programming(MIP)model.The main idea behind this work is that,in one pit,production voids created in early year of mining are used for waste landfilling in late years of production.In other words,in addition to external dumping,a landfilling option within the same pit is proposed for mine design optimization.The problem is formulated as maximization of the net present value(NPV)of the mining project under the constraints of access,landfill waste handling,mining and processing capacities.A case study using a data set was carried out to see the performance of the proposed approach.The findings showed that this approach could be used in waste management incorporating a landfilling option into mine planning.As a result,material handling costs decrease,and environmental compliance increases due to less external waste quantity.展开更多

One hundred and fourteen (114) consultants were selected ou...The study was carried out exclusively in Ghana to explore the approaches employed by consultants in risk assessment at the design phase of projects in Ghana. One hundred and fourteen (114) consultants were selected out of a population of one hundred and eighty six (186) from three main professional associations in Ghana made up of the Ghana Institute of Architects, Ghana Institution of Engineers and the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (Quantity Surveying Division) practicing in Ghana for the study. Both primary and secondary data were collected. A descriptive survey was also used to observe and describe the presence, frequency or absence of characteristics of a phenomenon as it naturally occurred, in order to gain additional information. A questionnaire was also designed to collect data from the architects, engineers and quantity surveyors. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Scientists (SPSS) 17.0. Descriptive and inferential statistics, such as frequency tables, percentages and cross tabulations were used in the data analysis and summaries. Simple tests of associations were undertaken by using Chi square and Cramer’s V statistics to compare relationships between variables. Again, relative importance index was also used to analyze some of the data by computing to deduce their rankings. The research revealed that majority of consultants had an average knowledge of risk management. Based on the findings it was recommended that consultants undergo advanced training in risk assessment. The challenges observed in risk assessment and the remedial steps suggested curtailing the detrimental effects of risks would be of wide importance to many developing economies.展开更多

Therefore, the main purpose of the research is to comparatively evaluate the impact of autonomous vehicle technologies, which are newly included in the automotive manufacturing industry under sustainable competition, on lean product development processes, value acquisition and preservation, in different organizational structures in the approach. Although mergers or brand acquisitions in the global automotive industry create joint R & D (Research Development) or joint new P & D (Product Development) process structures for the development of autonomous vehicle technologies, heavy competition continues in the market. These new processes create different needs for the merger and partnership of the renewed traffic infrastructures under national and international regulations, and for the implementation of the new autonomous life model. Firm and brand marriages, mergers or acquisitions in today’s automotive industry have ensured the high diffusion of lean product development processes under the stream of value creation or preservation carried out specific to the company under competition. Brand mergers in automotive industry companies struggling to survive under high competition create new work disciplines, professions, and engineering flow steps in lean product development processes. However, lean product development processes driven by technological innovation under simplification have resulted in the integration of parts and systems within the autonomous vehicle design structure, as well as creating new interdisciplinary value streams or different stakeholders. Therefore, the research revealed the significant effects of lean product development processes on the value stream in the automotive industry, on the mixed and lean product development process structure formed by new or existing vehicle systems (conventional vehicle) under the penetration of each existing and new discipline. This research compares the efficient operation steps of the process stakeholders in the autonomous vehicle design parts or systems containing innovation and new technology together with the value stream in the lean product development process, and the new process stakeholder’s business-oriented global and local automotive industry companies. New autonomous vehicle technologies, together with their unique software, hardware and development analysis, have been involved in the lean product development process with their interdisciplinary studies or expertise. Therefore, the study firstly focused on the technologies in environmental use together with the new basic features of autonomous vehicles, and then examined in depth the new or existing disciplines and interdisciplinary basic structure that these innovations affect under the value stream in the lean product development process. The rainwater management, as an important means to improve the water environment in the brown-land transformation of the iron and steel industry, is bound to reshape the environment of the brown-land of the iron and steel industry and create a good ecological environment of the brown-land. Based on the analysis and comparison of the methods and techniques of the rainwater management, combined with the surface water transmission paths and the technical facilities in the iron and steel industry, this paper puts forward the landscape planning measures of the rainwater management from three aspects of the rainwater and architecture, the rainwater and roads, and the rainwater and iron and steel elements, and displays the application process of the rainwater management in the form of the landscape, so as to achieve the unity of the technology and arts.展开更多
