Effects of AE and R... AlF3-REF3-AEF2 (RE: rare earth, AE: alkali earth) system fluoride glasses were prepared by quenching melts. The glass forming region of AlF3NdF3-(Mg0.25Ca0.25Sr0.25Ba0.25) F2 system was determined. Effects of AE and RE fluoride on the glass forming ability and thermal properties of the system have been discussed. The IR cut-off wavelength of AIF3-REF3-AEF3 glass is about 7 μm. This system has many advantages, such as low refractive index, high Abbe number, high Tg and Tc-Tg values, and good chemical durability, etc. This is a kind of new excellent ultra-low loss optical fiber and IR optical material. 展开更多

The effect of Ga_2O_3 on the structure and properties of calcium aluminate glasses fabricated by vacuum melting process was investigated by Raman spectrum, differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), and infrared spectrum methods. The results show that calcium aluminate glass network only consists of [AlO_4] tetrahedral units. With the gradual addition of Ga_2O_3, the quantity of [GaO_4] tetrahedral units increases. Substitution of Ga_2O_3 for Al_2O_3 results in a decrease in Tg, Tx, and Tp, and an increase in the thermal stable index ΔT. Similarly, the absorption band around 3.0 μm obviously reduces and the transparency in 4.0-6.0 μm rapidly increases with increasing Ga_2O_3 content. However, the chemical stability of calcium aluminate glasses decreases if Ga_2O_3 is introduced due to the increasing of [GaO_4] units in the glass network. 展开更多

Y/Bi co-doped silicate glasses were prepared,and the effects of Y 2 O 3 on the absorption and emission properties were investigated by spectrum measurement.It was found that the absorption intensity in visible region decreases with increase of Y 3+ concentration in(70-x)SiO 2 xY 2 O 3-30CaO-1.5Bi 2 O 3(x=0 mol.%,1 mol.%,3 mol.%,5 mol.%,7 mol.%) glasses.The emissions centered at 410,630,1200 and 1290 nm were observed under 280,470,514 and 808 nm excitation,respectively.The emission intensity had the similar change tendency in the visible and near infrared region.We also discussed the actual role of Y 3+ ions playing in the visible and near infrared emissions of the silicate glasses. 展开更多
