Instead of using classical types of intake, a kind of two level hanged plate intake designs was suggested. The hanged plate was arranged in the middle level depth of flow and flow was separated to two portions i. e. the region above the hanged plate and the region under the hanged plate. In such way, the upper stream flows into channel and the bottom stream becomes the pressure flow. By using this arrangement, clearer water including less sediment are deflected into irrigation channel in addition to increasing the transport sediment ratio. In this paper, flow patterns, velocity profile, pressure distribution, and diversion ratio were studied experimentally for two different headers of hanged plate, P weir and L weir. The main characteristics of flow through hanged plate was also inverstigated and compared with each other. The design works better in comparison with artificial band, sluice dam intake work, and so on.展开更多
