The paper presents an innovative approach towards agricultural insurance underwriting and risk pricing through the development of an Extreme Machine Learning (ELM) Actuarial Intelligent Model. This model integrates diverse datasets, including climate change scenarios, crop types, farm sizes, and various risk factors, to automate underwriting decisions and estimate loss reserves in agricultural insurance. The study conducts extensive exploratory data analysis, model building, feature engineering, and validation to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Additionally, the paper discusses the application of robust tests, stress tests, and scenario tests to assess the model’s resilience and adaptability to changing market conditions. This study proposes a novel approach for estimating automobile insurance loss reserves utilizing Artificial Neural Network (ANN) techniques integrated with actuarial data intelligence. The model aims to address the challenges of accurately predicting insurance claim frequencies, severities, and overall loss reserves while accounting for inflation adjustments. Through comprehensive data analysis and model development, this research explores the effectiveness of ANN methodologies in capturing complex nonlinear relationships within insurance data. The study leverages a data set comprising automobile insurance policyholder information, claim history, and economic indicators to train and validate the ANN-based reserving model. Key aspects of the methodology include data preprocessing techniques such as one-hot encoding and scaling, followed by the construction of frequency, severity, and overall loss reserving models using ANN architectures. Moreover, the model incorporates inflation adjustment factors to ensure the accurate estimation of future loss reserves in real terms. Results from the study demonstrate the superior predictive performance of the ANN-based reserving model compared to traditional actuarial methods, with substantial improvements in accuracy and robustness. Furthermore, the model’s ability to adapt to changing market conditions and regulatory requirements, such as IFRS17, highlights its practical relevance in the insurance industry. The findings of this research contribute to the advancement of actuarial science and provide valuable insights for insurance companies seeking more accurate and efficient loss reserving techniques. Large Language Model Based Semantic Parsing for Intelligent Database Query Engine

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in natural language understanding and generation. These models have great potential to enhance database query systems, enabling more intuitive and semantic query mechanisms. Our model leverages LLM’s deep learning architecture to interpret and process natural language queries and translate them into accurate database queries. The system integrates an LLM-powered semantic parser that translates user input into structured queries that can be understood by the database management system. First, the user query is pre-processed, the text is normalized, and the ambiguity is removed. This is followed by semantic parsing, where the LLM interprets the pre-processed text and identifies key entities and relationships. This is followed by query generation, which converts the parsed information into a structured query format and tailors it to the target database schema. Finally, there is query execution and feedback, where the resulting query is executed on the database and the results are returned to the user. The system also provides feedback mechanisms to improve and optimize future query interpretations. By using advanced LLMs for model implementation and fine-tuning on diverse datasets, the experimental results show that the proposed method significantly improves the accuracy and usability of database queries, making data retrieval easy for users without specialized knowledge. 展开更多

Artificial intelligence(AI)models have significantly impacted various areas of the atmospheric sciences,reshaping our approach to climate-related challenges.Amid this AI-driven transformation,the foundational role of physics in climate science has occasionally been overlooked.Our perspective suggests that the future of climate modeling involves a synergistic partnership between AI and physics,rather than an“either/or”scenario.Scrutinizing controversies around current physical inconsistencies in large AI models,we stress the critical need for detailed dynamic diagnostics and physical constraints.Furthermore,we provide illustrative examples to guide future assessments and constraints for AI models.Regarding AI integration with numerical models,we argue that offline AI parameterization schemes may fall short of achieving global optimality,emphasizing the importance of constructing online schemes.Additionally,we highlight the significance of fostering a community culture and propose the OCR(Open,Comparable,Reproducible)principles.Through a better community culture and a deep integration of physics and AI,we contend that developing a learnable climate model,balancing AI and physics,is an achievable goal. 展开更多

Modern medicine is reliant on various medical imaging technologies for non-invasively observing patients’anatomy.However,the interpretation of medical images can be highly subjective and dependent on the expertise of clinicians.Moreover,some potentially useful quantitative information in medical images,especially that which is not visible to the naked eye,is often ignored during clinical practice.In contrast,radiomics performs high-throughput feature extraction from medical images,which enables quantitative analysis of medical images and prediction of various clinical endpoints.Studies have reported that radiomics exhibits promising performance in diagnosis and predicting treatment responses and prognosis,demonstrating its potential to be a non-invasive auxiliary tool for personalized medicine.However,radiomics remains in a developmental phase as numerous technical challenges have yet to be solved,especially in feature engineering and statistical modeling.In this review,we introduce the current utility of radiomics by summarizing research on its application in the diagnosis,prognosis,and prediction of treatment responses in patients with cancer.We focus on machine learning approaches,for feature extraction and selection during feature engineering and for imbalanced datasets and multi-modality fusion during statistical modeling.Furthermore,we introduce the stability,reproducibility,and interpretability of features,and the generalizability and interpretability of models.Finally,we offer possible solutions to current challenges in radiomics research. 展开更多

This study investigates resilient platoon control for constrained intelligent and connected vehicles(ICVs)against F-local Byzantine attacks.We introduce a resilient distributed model-predictive platooning control framework for such ICVs.This framework seamlessly integrates the predesigned optimal control with distributed model predictive control(DMPC)optimization and introduces a unique distributed attack detector to ensure the reliability of the transmitted information among vehicles.Notably,our strategy uses previously broadcasted information and a specialized convex set,termed the“resilience set”,to identify unreliable data.This approach significantly eases graph robustness prerequisites,requiring only an(F+1)-robust graph,in contrast to the established mean sequence reduced algorithms,which require a minimum(2F+1)-robust graph.Additionally,we introduce a verification algorithm to restore trust in vehicles under minor attacks,further reducing communication network robustness.Our analysis demonstrates the recursive feasibility of the DMPC optimization.Furthermore,the proposed method achieves exceptional control performance by minimizing the discrepancies between the DMPC control inputs and predesigned platoon control inputs,while ensuring constraint compliance and cybersecurity.Simulation results verify the effectiveness of our theoretical findings. 展开更多

AIM:To develop an artificial intelligence(AI)diagnosis model based on deep learning(DL)algorithm to diagnose different types of retinal vein occlusion(RVO)by recognizing color fundus photographs(CFPs).METHODS:Totally 914 CFPs of healthy people and patients with RVO were collected as experimental data sets,and used to train,verify and test the diagnostic model of RVO.All the images were divided into four categories[normal,central retinal vein occlusion(CRVO),branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO),and macular retinal vein occlusion(MRVO)]by three fundus disease experts.Swin Transformer was used to build the RVO diagnosis model,and different types of RVO diagnosis experiments were conducted.The model’s performance was compared to that of the experts.RESULTS:The accuracy of the model in the diagnosis of normal,CRVO,BRVO,and MRVO reached 1.000,0.978,0.957,and 0.978;the specificity reached 1.000,0.986,0.982,and 0.976;the sensitivity reached 1.000,0.955,0.917,and 1.000;the F1-Sore reached 1.000,0.9550.943,and 0.887 respectively.In addition,the area under curve of normal,CRVO,BRVO,and MRVO diagnosed by the diagnostic model were 1.000,0.900,0.959 and 0.970,respectively.The diagnostic results were highly consistent with those of fundus disease experts,and the diagnostic performance was superior.CONCLUSION:The diagnostic model developed in this study can well diagnose different types of RVO,effectively relieve the work pressure of clinicians,and provide help for the follow-up clinical diagnosis and treatment of RVO patients. 展开更多

In the present industrial revolution era,the industrial mechanical system becomes incessantly highly intelligent and composite.So,it is necessary to develop data-driven and monitoring approaches for achieving quick,trustable,and high-quality analysis in an automated way.Fault diagnosis is an essential process to verify the safety and reliability operations of rotating machinery.The advent of deep learning(DL)methods employed to diagnose faults in rotating machinery by extracting a set of feature vectors from the vibration signals.This paper presents an Intelligent Industrial Fault Diagnosis using Sailfish Optimized Inception with Residual Network(IIFD-SOIR)Model.The proposed model operates on three major processes namely signal representation,feature extraction,and classification.The proposed model uses a Continuous Wavelet Transform(CWT)is for preprocessed representation of the original vibration signal.In addition,Inception with ResNet v2 based feature extraction model is applied to generate high-level features.Besides,the parameter tuning of Inception with the ResNet v2 model is carried out using a sailfish optimizer.Finally,a multilayer perceptron(MLP)is applied as a classification technique to diagnose the faults proficiently.Extensive experimentation takes place to ensure the outcome of the presented model on the gearbox dataset and a motor bearing dataset.The experimental outcome indicated that the IIFD-SOIR model has reached a higher average accuracy of 99.6%and 99.64%on the applied gearbox dataset and bearing dataset.The simulation outcome ensured that the proposed model has attained maximum performance over the compared methods. 展开更多

The connected and automated vehicles(CAVs)technologies provide more information to drivers in the car-following(CF)process.Unlike the human-driven vehicles(HVs),which only considers information in front,the CAVs circumstance allows them to obtain information in front and behind,enhancing vehicles perception ability.This paper proposes an intelligent back-looking distance driver model(IBDM)considering the desired distance of the following vehicle in homogeneous CAVs environment.Based on intelligent driver model(IDM),the IBDM integrates behind information of vehicles as a control term.The stability condition against a small perturbation is analyzed using linear stability theory in the homogeneous traffic flow.To validate the theoretical analysis,simulations are carried out on a single lane under the open boundary condition,and compared with the IDM not considering the following vehicle and the extended IDM considering the information of vehicle preceding and next preceding.Six scenarios are designed to evaluate the results under different disturbance strength,disturbance location,and initial platoon space distance.The results reveal that the IBDM has an advantage over IDM and the extended IDM in control of CAVs car-following process in maintaining string stability,and the stability improves by increasing the proportion of the new item. 展开更多

In this paper, an intelligent master model of computer aided process planning (CAPP) for large complicated stampings has been developed based on knowledge based engineering (KBE) and feature technology. This innovative model consists of knowledge base (KB), process control structure (PCS), process information model (PIM), multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO), model link environment (MLE) and simulation engine (SE), to realize process planning, optimization, simulation and management integrated to complete intelligent CAPP system. In this model, KBE provides knowledge base, open architecture and knowledge reuse ability to deal with the multi-domain and multi-expression of process knowledge, and forms an integrated environment. With PIM, all the knowledge consisting of objects, constraints, cxtmricncc and decision-makings is carried by object-oriented method dynamically for knowledge-reasoning. PCS makes dynamical knowledge modified and updated timely and accordingly. MLE provides scv. cral methods to make CAPP sysmm associated and integrated. SE provides a programmable mechanism to interpret simulation course and result. Meanwhile, collaborative optimization, one method of MDO, is imported to deal with the optimization distributed for multiple purposes. Integration of digital twin(DT)and wireless channel provides new solution of channel modeling and simulation,and can assist to design,optimize and evaluate intelligent wireless communication system and networks.With DT channel modeling,the generated channel data can be closer to realistic channel measurements without requiring a prior channel model,and amount of channel data can be significantly increased.Artificial intelligence(AI)based modeling approach shows outstanding performance to solve such problems.In this work,a channel modeling method based on generative adversarial networks is proposed for DT channel,which can generate identical statistical distribution with measured channel.Model validation is conducted by comparing DT channel characteristics with measurements,and results show that DT channel leads to fairly good agreement with measured channel.Finally,a link-layer simulation is implemented based on DT channel.It is found that the proposed DT channel model can be well used to conduct link-layer simulation and its performance is comparable to using measurement data.The observations and results can facilitate the development of DT channel modeling and provide new thoughts for DT channel applications,as well as improving the performance and reliability of intelligent communication networking. 展开更多

To address the current problems of poor generality,low real-time,and imperfect information transmission of the battlefield target intelligence system,this paper studies the battlefield target intelligence system from the top-level perspective of multi-service joint warfare.First,an overall planning and analysis method of architecture modeling is proposed with the idea of a bionic analogy for battlefield target intelligence system architecture modeling,which reduces the difficulty of the planning and design process.The method introduces the Department of Defense architecture framework(DoDAF)modeling method,the multi-living agent(MLA)theory modeling method,and other combinations for planning and modeling.A set of rapid planning methods that can be applied to model the architecture of various types of complex systems is formed.Further,the liveness analysis of the battlefield target intelligence system is carried out,and the problems of the existing system are presented from several aspects.And the technical prediction of the development and construction is given,which provides directional ideas for the subsequent research and development of the battlefield target intelligence system.In the end,the proposed architecture model of the battlefield target intelligence system is simulated and verified by applying the colored Petri nets(CPN)simulation software.The analysis demonstrates the reasonable integrity of its logic. 展开更多

TheUAV pursuit-evasion problem focuses on the efficient tracking and capture of evading targets using unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs),which is pivotal in public safety applications,particularly in scenarios involving intrusion monitoring and interception.To address the challenges of data acquisition,real-world deployment,and the limited intelligence of existing algorithms in UAV pursuit-evasion tasks,we propose an innovative swarm intelligencebased UAV pursuit-evasion control framework,namely“Boids Model-based DRL Approach for Pursuit and Escape”(Boids-PE),which synergizes the strengths of swarm intelligence from bio-inspired algorithms and deep reinforcement learning(DRL).The Boids model,which simulates collective behavior through three fundamental rules,separation,alignment,and cohesion,is adopted in our work.By integrating Boids model with the Apollonian Circles algorithm,significant improvements are achieved in capturing UAVs against simple evasion strategies.To further enhance decision-making precision,we incorporate a DRL algorithm to facilitate more accurate strategic planning.We also leverage self-play training to continuously optimize the performance of pursuit UAVs.During experimental evaluation,we meticulously designed both one-on-one and multi-to-one pursuit-evasion scenarios,customizing the state space,action space,and reward function models for each scenario.Extensive simulations,supported by the PyBullet physics engine,validate the effectiveness of our proposed method.The overall results demonstrate that Boids-PE significantly enhance the efficiency and reliability of UAV pursuit-evasion tasks,providing a practical and robust solution for the real-world application of UAV pursuit-evasion missions. 展开更多

Intelligent chatbots powered by large language models(LLMs)have recently been sweeping the world,with potential for a wide variety of industrial applications.Global frontier technology companies are feverishly participating in LLM-powered chatbot design and development,providing several alternatives beyond the famous ChatGPT.However,training,fine-tuning,and updating such intelligent chatbots consume substantial amounts of electricity,resulting in significant carbon emissions.The research and development of all intelligent LLMs and software,hardware manufacturing(e.g.,graphics processing units and supercomputers),related data/operations management,and material recycling supporting chatbot services are associated with carbon emissions to varying extents.Attention should therefore be paid to the entire life-cycle energy and carbon footprints of LLM-powered intelligent chatbots in both the present and future in order to mitigate their climate change impact.In this work,we clarify and highlight the energy consumption and carbon emission implications of eight main phases throughout the life cycle of the development of such intelligent chatbots.Based on a life-cycle and interaction analysis of these phases,we propose a system-level solution with three strategic pathways to optimize the management of this industry and mitigate the related footprints.While anticipating the enormous potential of this advanced technology and its products,we make an appeal for a rethinking of the mitigation pathways and strategies of the life-cycle energy usage and carbon emissions of the LLM-powered intelligent chatbot industry and a reshaping of their energy and environmental implications at this early stage of development. 展开更多

To facilitate emerging applications and demands of edge intelligence(EI)-empowered 6G networks,model-driven semantic communications have been proposed to reduce transmission volume by deploying artificial intelligence(AI)models that provide abilities of semantic extraction and recovery.Nevertheless,it is not feasible to preload all AI models on resource-constrained terminals.Thus,in-time model transmission becomes a crucial problem.This paper proposes an intellicise model transmission architecture to guarantee the reliable transmission of models for semantic communication.The mathematical relationship between model size and performance is formulated by employing a recognition error function supported with experimental data.We consider the characteristics of wireless channels and derive the closed-form expression of model transmission outage probability(MTOP)over the Rayleigh channel.Besides,we define the effective model accuracy(EMA)to evaluate the model transmission performance of both communication and intelligence.Then we propose a joint model selection and resource allocation(JMSRA)algorithm to maximize the average EMA of all users.Simulation results demonstrate that the average EMA of the JMSRA algorithm outperforms baseline algorithms by about 22%. 展开更多

Intelligent PID Control Method for Quadrotor UAV with Serial Humanoid Intelligence

Quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)are widely used in inspection,agriculture,express delivery,and other fields owing to their low cost and high flexibility.However,the current UAV control system has shortcomings such as poor control accuracy and weak anti-interference ability to a certain extent.To address the control problem of a four-rotor UAV,we propose a method to enhance the controller’s accuracy by considering underactuated dynamics,nonlinearities,and external disturbances.A mathematical model is constructed based on the flight principles of the quadrotor UAV.We develop a control algorithm that combines humanoid intelligence with a cascade Proportional-Integral-Derivative(PID)approach.This algorithm incorporates the rate of change of the error into the inputs of the cascade PID controller,uses both the error and its rate of change as characteristic variables of the UAV’s control system,and employs a hyperbolic tangent function to improve the outer-loop control.The result is a double closed-loop intelligent PID(DCLIPID)control algorithm.Through MATLAB numerical simulation tests,it is found that the DCLIPID algorithm reduces the rise time by 0.5 s and the number of oscillations by 2 times compared to the string PID algorithm when a unit step signal is used as input.A UAV flight test was designed for comparison with the serial PID algorithm,and it was found that when the UAV planned the trajectory autonomously,the errors in the X-,Y-,and Z-directions were reduced by 0.22,0.21,and 0.31 m,respectively.Under the interference environment of artificial wind about 3.6 m·s^(-1),the UAV hovering error in X-,Y-,and Z-directions are 0.24,0.42,and 0.27 m,respectively.The simulation and experimental results show that the control method of humanoid intelligence and cascade PID can improve the real-time,control accuracy and anti-interference ability of the UAV,and the method has a certain reference value for the research in the field of UAV control. 展开更多
