The first section provides an introduction to the definitions and theories of chronic pain and the various contributing factors (psychological, interpersonal/environmental and social support, and vocational). The second section presents the role of various health care professions (medical doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and rehabilitation counselors) and the evidence of their treatment effectiveness. The third section discusses the concept of an interdisciplinary pain rehabilitation program (IPRP) and its evidence to support its effectiveness. Finally, the clinical implications of rehabilitation counseling and psychology as part of the inter-disciplinary program in treating individuals with chronic pain will be highlighted.展开更多

All in all, the training of high-quality interdisciplinary legal talents lags behind social reform and the practice of the rule of law. In the context of comprehensively promoting the development of the new liberal arts, developing the new liberal arts, i.e., deep cross-integration, has penetrated into the construction of the law discipline, broken through the inherent limitations of law knowledge, promoted the interdisciplinary development of law education, and helped cultivate the ability of law students to integrate interdisciplinary knowledge. The development of new law science should proceed step by step, from shallow to deep. It should follow the guidance of social needs, break down discipline barriers, innovate cross-integration mechanisms, transform and upgrade from the “small crossover” among various departmental laws within the law discipline to the “big crossover” between the law discipline and other disciplines, and transform from the innovation of research methods to the innovation of the structure of disciplines. The cultivation of inter disciplines should focus on emerging fields such as national security, artificial intelligence, and social governance.展开更多

"The Tell-Tale Heart" (2007) is one such tale. Behind the mask of the narrator lies the dangerous, diabolical, and premeditated crime of the sadist. Most critics neglected to highlight the sadistic complex which manifests itself with outstanding clarity in the character Poe presents. Instead, they chose to focus on other aspects of his character, namely, his disturbed mental state. Yet, to dismiss a perversion such as sadism is to lose sight of Poe's legitimate merits as a criminal psychologist. This study highlights this point Through an interdisciplinary approach between criminology and literature, the study examines Poe's work from the criminological tradition represented by such figures as Richard von Krafft-Ebing, Paul De River, Carol Anne Davis, Karl Berg, Peter Vronsky, Julie Harrower, Curt R. Bartol, and others. The study is based upon criminological insights derived from and supported by actual case histories, and thus, is extremely important in bridging the gap between literature and criminology展开更多

Specially, within a theoretical framework of multimodal social semiotics, the present paper illustrates what visual English is, examines how it represents and communicates meaning as a semiotic resource system, and identifies some characteristic features of visual English through an itemised, theoretically informed analysis of five advertisements as embodiments of visual English. The focus of this paper is interpretation of the socially coded meanings represented by those advertisements through a text-image interaction in a semiotically-based interdisciplinary approach. Furthermore, it explores if there is any paradigmatic and/or syntagmatic markedness in those target advertisements, and discusses the visual as well as stylistic effects of any such markedness detected. On this basis, this paper generalises about some patterns of multimodal representation in the use of visual English, and briefly charts future directions for further semiotic research on visual English.展开更多
