The Impact of Creative Group Teaching and Educational Booklet Methods on Interpersonal Communications among Midwives in Clinical Setting

Group discussion teaching technique for small groups and encouragement of critical but constructive and creative thinking for finding new and efficient solutions can lead to provision of better health and medical services that is defined in clinical setting, as the clinical psychology finds a way for curing and education. The present study was conducted with the aim to compare the effects of creative group teaching and educational booklet on interpersonal skills of midwives in a clinical setting. The present study was conducted on 97 midwifery graduates working in hospitals in Kerman Province, in two groups of educational booklet (49 midwives) and educational workshop (48 midwives) who participated in a 3-day creative teaching workshop in summer 2015. Creative problem-solving teaching intervention group was taught through educational workshop method, including small group and team working, group discussion and mini lectures. Midwifery 1 intervention group was provided with an educational booklet validated by professors of Nursing and Midwifery School for independent and individual study by midwives working in Kerman Province hospitals. The two groups were matched in terms of personal details. Hospitals were randomly selected, and midwives were selected by quota sampling. Interpersonal communication skills of both groups were assessed before and after intervention, and two months later using Interpersonal Communication Skills Test. The results obtained were analyzed in SPSS-16 using descriptive statistics, including frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, and inferential statistics including U-Mann-Whitney, paired t, independent t, repeated measures ANOVA tests at significance level of P P P P P < 0.001). Both teaching methods improved midwives’ interpersonal communication skills. Therefore, standardized educational booklets which produce cost-effective similar results are recommended.

The Importance of Communication and Interpersonal Relations in Agribusiness Enterprises

This study aims to investigate the importance of communication and interpersonal relationship in the development of activities in the agribusiness ventures. The study methodology includes theoretical search and field research with descriptive exploratory method. The results indicate that there is need to be investing in people management, demonstrating that there is still much to be improved, particularly as regards the development of workers. In this sense, it is recommended that invested more in continuing education and refresher courses for staff development, entrepreneurship training to show concern in giving them the opportunity to grow personally and professionally and still have other competitive advantages such as increased productivity, reduced costs, improved quality, and reduction in turnover of staff.

Atypical Interpersonal Communication: Looking for and through a Different Lens

While studying communication,researchers and practitioners may use different theoretical approaches or models representative of the process.Dependent on the definition of communication and the use of a linear,interactional or transactional model of communication,the philosophical inclination will change,as well as the questions,hypothesis,and explanations formulated by the professional.Communication takes place in diverse contexts;this text focuses on interpersonal communication settings.Interpersonal communication may become atypical when one of the parties in the exchange communicates mainly through pre-verbal,unconventional and,sometimes,peculiar behaviours.Atypical communication is common in case of a disability or neurodevelopmental condition is present.In the present research,the Complex of Continuous Communication(CCC)is formulated as a theoretical model to analyse and explain atypical interpersonal communication as a co-creative process,emphasizing the way the communication relationship is developed within the dyads.The model is based on a thorough narrative review of relevant literature in the field to determine the components of the model,clarify the relationships among them,and explain how the communicative dynamic may grow in terms of diversity and complexity.The new model is articulated with a conscious influence from the transactional conceptualization and the dialogical perspective of communication,acknowledging the need for further experimentation in order to be validated.

Impact Analysis of Electromagnetic Radiation from Communication Stations

[Objective] The study aims to analyze the effects of electromagnetic radiation from the communication stations on on surrounding environment. [ Method] The electromagnetic field intensity of the environment around communication stations was detected firstly, and then the impact of electromagnetic radiation from the communication stations on surrounding environment was analyzed, finally a series of countermeasures and suggestions were proposed to prevent electromagnetic radiation pollution. [ Result] The comprehensive electromagnetic field intensity of the environ- ment around mobile stations has positive correlation with the number of transmitting and receiving antennas. In addition, the comprehensive electro- magnetic field intensity is higher at high points compared with that at low points, showing that the comprehensive electromagnetic field intensity is positively correlated with point height. [ Conclusion] The research is of important significance to environmental protection and public health.

Teacher's interpersonal skills play a significant role in the teaching quality and students' improvement.Interpersonal skill is complicate and involves a great deal of skills.Due to the limited space,the paper only gives a description of the core skills which are key to teachers in the teaching and learning process.This paper is divided into three parts:what interpersonal skills are important to teachers,why these skills are important and how teachers can develop these skills to improve their teaching and students' learning.In the first part,understanding others,self-presentation,communicating,and influencing by persuading or power were found to be the most important skills in related research and literature.The second part discusses the importance of interpersonal skills both from teacher's teaching quality and students' learning outcome.The last part of the paper lists some suggestions on how to improve teacher's interpersonal skills.

Interactive Teaching in Interpersonal Skills

Engineers are very much part of the ongoing globalization and they are encountering problems of cross-disciplinary nature Team working skills respecting other peoples＇ qualifications are required so therefore interpersonal skills are becoming more and more important, including communications skills, leadership and awareness. Consequently, educational programs for teaching engineers should work with the fact that the capability of communicating with people with different background competences is important, nevertheless the engineering education has traditionally focused on technical skills rather than on personal development. In order to reform the B.Sc. courses to guide students to become better and more efficient engineers on all levels, the DTU （Technical University of Denmark） and Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences （Metropolia） modified their education according to the CDIO （conceive, design, implement and operate） approach in the autumn of 2008. The CDIO pedagogy encouraged to develop an interactive course in interpersonal skills, where the students have to take an active part in the exercises as well as involve themselves in the interactive communication process. The course consists of various exercises from which the participants will develop their awareness and knowledge of communication. It is the intention to give the students a personal understanding and idea of a different approach to communicating between people. The students evaluated the course, and the four key questions dealing with the quality of the course show a very high satisfaction with the instruction. The grades one and two （1 best/very much, 5 worst/very little） of the responses ＂to these four questions are ranging on average from 69.5% to 88% （on a yearly basis）. The positive responses indicate that the students are very satisfied with the course recognizing the need for education on international communication.

New Information and Communication Technologies and University Education Renovation in Vietnam

The introduction of new information and communication technologies in Vietnam has had significant impacts on every sector, and changed the face of the whole Vietnamese society. New cultures, customs, and norms have been introduced to compete with the country＇s traditional values. In the context of Vietnamese sustained economic growth and social development, university education in Vietnam falls behind those from regional countries, partly because the influences of＇ information and communication technologies to the society as well as the education system at the paradigm levels have not been properly understood. In order to reverse this trend, a comprehensive renovation in university education must be carried out, and one of the first issues to be addressed is to reach a national consensus on the traditional and emerging social and educational values in Vietnam.

Emotional Awareness: An Enhanced Computer Mediated Communication Using Facial Expressions

This paper describes the design of a prototype for an emotionally enhanced computer mediated communication system which is aimed at compensating for the emotional distance between communicators. The prototype system encourages the sender to take the emotional perspective of the message receiver by giving the sender a sense of how his message may affect the intended receiver, and by allowing the sender to reconsider sending the message or revise it. The objective of an emotionally enhanced communication system is to raise awareness to the ease in which a written word might be misinterpreted since emotions are too often unseen due to the nature of lean communication media. In order to show the receiver’s assumed emotion, the written text would be parsed before sending the message. An algorithm, for demonstrating the prediction of the emotion a written message might evoke, will choose a facial expression from a pool of 7 expressions, according to the words and phrases inserted in the message. We conducted a user test to evaluate the acceptance and attitudes toward such an emotionally enhanced communication system and received a high level of acceptance and favorable attitudes towards using it.

Interpersonal communication is a kind of sociology, is a kind of psychology. From the perspective of mental health, the main reason affecting interpersonal barriers have cognitive factors, emotional factors and economic factors, to solve the problems, we should analyze from several factors, another way, change not only depends on the concept of education, education and teaching activities is more dependent on the mode change. It is necessary to strengthen the theoretical study of interpersonal relationship, change the concept, pay attention to the training of interpersonal skills, reshape the personality.

Defining soft skills in nursing:a concept analysis

Objective:To define soft skills in nursing.Methods:This is a concept analysis using the Walker and Avant approach.Multiple electronic databases in the English language including CINAHL,Science Direct,MEDLINE on EBSCOhost,and Scopus were consulted.Results:Soft skills in nursing include the intrapersonal attributes,interpersonal skills,and creativity of the nurse,which,when combined with professionalism,teamwork,and effective communication skills,improve the quality of nursing care and client satisfaction.Conclusions:Although hard and soft skills are compatible and synergetic,soft skills are to be prioritized for the success of nursing care in the healthcare industry.This concept analysis adds to the body of knowledge by identifying the attributes of soft skills in nursing and revealing that a good nurse needs more than just good grades to be successful.

Three-dimensional impact angle constrained distributed cooperative guidance law for anti-ship missiles

This paper investigates the problem of distributed cooperative guidance law design for multiple anti-ship missiles in the three-dimensional(3-D)space hitting simultaneously the same target with considering the desired terminal impact angle constraint.To address this issue,the problem formulation including 3-D nonlinear mathematical model description,and communication topology are built firstly.Then the consensus variable is constructed using the available information and can reach consensus under the proposed acceleration command along the line-of-sight(LOS)which satisfies the impact time constraint.However,the normal accelerations are designed to guarantee the convergence of the LOS angular rate.Furthermore,consider the terminal impact angle constraints,a nonsingular terminal sliding mode(NTSM)control is introduced,and a finite time convergent control law of normal acceleration is proposed.The convergence of the proposed guidance law is proved by using the second Lyapunov stability method,and numerical simulations are also conducted to verify its effectiveness.The results indicate that the proposed cooperative guidance law can regulate the impact time error and impact angle error in finite time if the connecting time of the communication topology is longer than the required convergent time.

Investigation of Patients’ Mood on Their Distance from the Pharmacist during Medication Instruction

Background: Pharmacists must adjust their distance from patients to facilitate communication during interviews and gain their trust. The distance between the patients and the pharmacists varies depending on many factors, such as gender, posture and the patients’ mood. Only a few of these papers have actually measured and validated distance with patients. In this study, we validated our method of assessing mood and measuring distance before beginning a survey with patients. Methods: We measured comfortable interpersonal distance among men and women using an ecological scenario, in which a pharmacist approaches the subject, and the subject is asked to stop the pharmacist at the distance he/she feel comfortable with. Five pharmacists and 33 subjects participated in the study. The Japanese version of the Brief Mood Questionnaire Checklists (BMC-J) was used to quantify the subject’s mood for the day, and then the distance from the pharmacist that the subjects considered comfortable was measured at the bedside. The relationship between the mood and distance obtained was examined. Results: The comfortable distance of subjects was influenced by gender, posture, and mood. The shortest distance was 94.7 ± 11.1 cm (mean ± SD), for the male subjects versus the female pharmacists in the sitting position. The distance of male subjects shorted when they had positive emotions and lengthened when they were worried. Female subjects maintained a long distance from both male and female pharmacists when they had positive emotions and a short distance when they were worried. Conclusion: Findings show that the distance changes depending on the subjects’ mood at the time of measurement. It was found that the present measurement method can be used to determine the psychological state of the patient and measure the comfort distance at that time, and can be used as a simple method to examine these relationships. Therefore, it is also considered a practical method for the next step, which is a clinical study on patients.

MIND THE GAP: TOWARDS AND BEYOND IMPACT MESSAGING TO ENHANCE TROPICAL CYCLONE RISK COMMUNICATION

Traditionally, meteorological agencies collect, analyse, and share technical information about natural hazards with emergency services organisations and community members; often sending different warning products to each of these groups. For the general public, effective risk communication requires that technical information be translated to first gain attention and build understanding of risk, and then continue to be exchanged by all parties. The World Meteorological Organization and its partner agencies have recognised this need for translated information by moving away from warnings describing risks solely in terms of meteorological parameters and towards clearer messaging emphasizing significance and potential impacts. While the move towards more relatable weather warning messaging is a positive one, risk communication is a complex, dynamic and interactive process that is highly dependent on audience psychology, knowledge, skills, and capabilities; presenting at once difficulties and opportunities for agencies. Over recent years, advertisers, politicians and public safety advocates have all improved their messaging through the use of big data, psychology, social networking and behavioural economics principles, yet the links between these elements and weather risk communication are still relatively immature. This report aims to build links between weather forecasters, social scientists and related industries by outlining three conceptual models social scientists have developed to meet different challenges in the field of risk communication; the mental models approach, risk information seeking and processing, and the protective action decision making model. Recent issues and successes in the communication of tropical cyclone risk will then be examined and compared to these models, and future opportunities will be discussed.

当校园SNS照进现实——校内网的人际传播模式探讨

SNS是Web2.0应用的典型模式之一,而人际传播是SNS最主要的传播形态。本研究以校内网注册用户为研究对象,通过对两所高校的校内网用户网络调查搜集的多项数据,结合7W传播模式,从传者、内容、媒介、受者、效果、动机、情境七个方面分析校园SNS的传播特征。通过与博客等媒介的比较,归纳出传者的自组织性及去中心化、以隐私性和自主性为前提的高分享度微内容传播、传播符号的多元化、对象群体的同龄化及指定性、传播主体的交互性、真实性和社会性的回归、动机的目的性、直接性和非功利性等校内网的传播特征。参照使用与满足、弱连带优势等理论,探讨在实名制规则下校园SNS的人际传播与受者需求、个人形象、性别、物理世界的人际关系等的交互关系。并结合建设和谐校园的新形势,展望校园SNS的发展趋势。

基于社会认知论的创业团队人际信任影响因素实证研究

本文将创业团队人际信任划分为认知型信任和情感型信任。然后,基于社会认知视角从成员主体特征、成员关系特征、创业团队文化和创业团队特征四个方面考察创业团队人际信任的影响因素,并运用相关分析和多重逐步回归分析法分别分析了各要素对创业团队中认知型信任和情感型信任的影响程度。研究结果表明:成员能力、成员正直、成员沟通、成员合作、成员竞争、团队行为规范、任务依赖性、角色期待性、目标明确性和成员异质性10个因素对创业团队认知型信任产生显著影响;成员善意、成员信任倾向、成员沟通、成员合作、成员竞争、团队价值观念、团队行为规范和目标明确性8个因素对创业团队情感型信任影响显著。
