The Impact of Street Interviews on Chinese EFL Undergraduates’Intercultural Communicative Competence

The study adopts Byram’s Intercultural Communicative Competence(ICC)model as the theoretical framework,and structured interviews were conducted to explore the impact of street interviews on the participants’ICC.Analysis results revealed street interviews help students acquire knowledge in intercultural attitudes,intercultural knowledge,skills of discovery and interaction,and critical cultural awareness,aligning with the four components of Byram’s ICC model.Meanwhile,they have positive perceptions of street interviews.Therefore,street interviews have a positive effect on the development of participants’ICC.

On the Enhancement of Intercultural Communication Competence in Interpreting Classes

To ensure effective intercultural communications, it is highly important to equip interpreter with intercultural communicative competence. Specific suggestions in interpreting teaching classes are provided in this paper in order to enhance interpreter's intercultural communicative competence and improve interpreting quality in interpreting classes.

Children’s Health, Parent-Child Activities, Using Digital Devices, and Social Competence: Serial Mediation

Background: Studies have pointed out the influence of different children’s activities and prolonged use of digital products on their social development. However, whether the parent-child activities and using digital devices were serial mediators of the relationship between children’s health and social development needs further verification. Purpose: This study explored how parent-child activities and children’s use of digital devices influence the relationship between children’s health and their social competence. Method: This study used data from Kids in Taiwan: National Longitudinal Study of Child Development and Care. A total sample of 2164 participants was used in this study. Serial mediation analyses were performed using model six of Hayes’ PROCESS (2012). Results: This study found that parent-child activities and the use of digital devices can serially mediate the relationship between children’s health and social competence. Children’s health could directly improve their social competence, but it could also serially mediate social competence by increasing parent-child activities and reducing the use of digital devices. Conclusion: Childcare policy planners and parenting educators should not only call on parents to reduce the use of electronic products for their children, but also encourage parents to spend more time interacting with their children, so that children can learn social skills by interacting with others in their daily lives.

Interpretation of language competence and its enlightenment for TEFL

What language competence a learner has can she/he achieve an effective communication？ This question is the main concern for applied linguists and English teachers in TEFL, for the recognition of language competence directly influences the goal of teaching, curriculum design, textbook writing and classroom practice. This paper discusses the various points of views on language competence and explores its characteristics which, the author believes, will shed some light on foreign language teaching.

The Essence and Structure of Information Competency of an Interpreter in the System of Continuing Education

The paper highlights the problem of training of interpreters in the system of continuing education in Russia. The theoretical analysis of the essence and structure of the information competency of an interpreter in continuing education as subjects is proposed. The research techniques were document analysis, interviews, participant observation, work process analysis, and focus groups. This paper presents a brief overview of the information competency of an interpreter. The importance of the information competency in the structure of professional competency of an interpreter is acknowledged by the majority of modern experts. But there still exists the problem of determining the set of skills which present the information competency of an interpreter. This paper introduces the author＇s view on the problem of defining the essence and structure of the information competency of an interpreter.

Cross-cultural Communicative Competence Training in Maritime Spoken English Teaching

As a means of communication,English has been internationalized.Communication in English always happens among the seafarers from different cultures.If crews couldn’t deal with the cultural differences well,successful communication and shipboard safety,which are just what STCW (Standards on Training,Certificate and Watch -keeping) calls upon,are difficult to be arrived at. Therefore cross -cultural communicative competence training,or how to teach maritime spoken English is the problem or the challenge that we,English teachers,are facing.To show how the teaching can be made more efficient and practical so as to narrow the gap between the training of the seaman in China and the requirements of STCW,through the teaching process,including the syllabus design and the materials selecting,we must consider the notion of language function as the key point.

滇西南1976年龙陵M_(S)7.3、M_(S)7.4双强震触发滑坡遥感解译及其构造意义

深入研究中国滇西南地区发育的龙陵-澜沧新生地震构造带对于合理划分活动地块边界及未来开展强震危险性评价工作具有重要意义。使用高分辨率卫星影像对已发生的双强震震例开展回溯研究是一种可行的技术手段。文中对震前、震后高分辨率Keyhole卫星影像进行遥感解译,结合野外验证和前人研究结果,获得了1976年M_(S)7.3、M_(S)7.4龙陵双强震触发滑坡较为完整的数据库。结果显示:1)共解译滑坡14448个,总面积为17.2km^(2),70.9%的滑坡分布在花岗岩质的岩体风化层中,单体滑坡面积集中在数百至1000m^(2)区间,多为表层风化层内的浅层滑坡,滑动距离较小;2)同震滑坡密集区与高烈度区不匹配,其空间分布显示破裂区规模约为30km,且均位于活动断裂的一侧,表明其发震构造并非为龙陵-瑞丽断裂或畹町断裂。滇西南地区共轭强震破裂可能局限了单次强震的空间规模,因此在确认未来强震危险区时应重点关注NE向与NW向构造的交会部位。

基于Swanson关怀理论的护理干预在早产儿母亲中的应用

目的:探讨以Swanson关怀理论为框架的护理干预在早产儿母亲中的应用效果。方法:采取便利抽样法选取2022年1月-5月入住百色市某三级甲等医院新生儿重症监护室(NICU)治愈出院的40例早产儿母亲作为对照组,选取2022年6月-10月入住百色市某三级甲等医院NICU治愈出院的40例早产儿母亲作为试验组。对照组实施NICU常规护理,试验组在对照组干预的基础上实施基于Swanson关怀理论的护理干预,比较两组早产儿母亲干预前后疾病不确定感、希望水平、育儿胜任感得分情况。结果:干预后试验组早产儿母亲疾病不确定感得分明显低于对照组(P<0.001),希望水平得分明显高于对照组(P<0.001);出院时及出院1个月后试验组早产儿母亲育儿胜任感得分明显高于对照组(P<0.001)。结论:基于Swanson关怀理论的护理干预可有效降低早产儿母亲疾病不确定感水平,提高其希望水平,增强其育儿胜任感,有利于早产儿顺利从医院过渡至家庭。

Testative Discussion on how to be an Eligible Interpreter--Based on the People’s Republic of China of the National People’s Congress and Committee of the People’s Political Consultative Conference from 2012 to 2014

In recent years,with the rapid development of the Chinese economy,the“two sessions”in March of every year which sponsored by the ministry of foreign affairs attract more and more journalists from all over the world.The press conference in the“two sessions”likes an important window to show China’s policies and claims to the world.Meanwhile,the premier who answers questions in the press conference,respectively,shows the world the eloquence and polite manners of China’s premier,such as Premier Wen Jiabao and Premier Li Keqiang.Their astute response,excellent,and emotional expression makes a deep impression on audiences.Moreover,as a bridge between the speaker and the listeners,the interpretation once is incorrect will cause some mistakes even conflicts.Therefore,the interpreter plays a most important role in the press conference.How to improve the interpretation level in the press conference is a significant topic.The thesis mainly introduces the content of press conference interpreting from 2012 to 2014.At present,the practical study of press conference interpretation is far from enough.The last part gives the summary of the study and points out the main findings for the further study.

Can Pragmatic Competence Be Taught in an EFL Classroom?

An L2 learner's pragmatic competence is an inseparable part of his communicative competence.Large quantities of aspects of pragmatic competence are teachable.Classroom is the place where an L2 learner's pragmatic competence can be developed.Though classroom instruction has some negative effect,efforts could be done to arrange relevant awareness-raising and communication-practice activities.

Uniqueness of our political systems and tremendous changes brought about by reform and opening up are reflected in language use,so contem porary Chinese political discourse has its own distinctiveness,and is especially featured by increasing political neologisms,posing difficulties for interpreters and for China’s international publicity.Quality of political neologisms interpreting has a direct bearing on whether or not success of interpreting the whole discourse can be achieved.The authors believe that interpreting of contemporary Chinese political discourse,also for the purpose of com m unication can gain guidance from Bachman’s CLA Model.So the paper elaborates through exem plification on strategies for interpreting political neologisms in light of Bachm an’s Model,with a view to realizing discourse power of Chinese.

集成ISM与G1的建筑工人安全能力影响因素研究

为探究影响建筑工人安全能力的因素,提出一种集成解释结构模型(ISM)与序相关法(G1-Method)的因素分析法。首先,基于壳层模型(SHELL)与因子分析法,归纳与提取影响因素;其次,通过ISM构建工人安全能力影响因素多级递阶结构模型;最后,结合改进的G1-Method,计算因素间关联度及对安全能力的影响重要度。结果表明:所构建的安全能力影响因素结构模型包括安全认知能力、安全行为能力2个维度,以及16个影响因素。其中,安全观念、操作技能、环境适应是建筑工人安全能力形成的浅层因素,而安全教培、安全管理是安全能力形成的深层因素。同时,安全观念、安全教培、环境适应是安全认知能力的主要影响因素;操作技能、安全教培、安全管理是安全行为能力的主要影响因素。

The Ordinal Interpretation of the Integers and Its Use in Number Theory

The author recently published a paper which claimed that an ordinal interpretation of numbers had limited applicability for cryptography. A further examination of this subject, in particular to what extent an ordinal interpretation is useful for recurrence sequences, is needed. Hilbert favored an interpretation of the natural numbers that placed their ordinal properties prior to their cardinal properties [1] [2]. The author examines ordinal uses of the integers in number theory in order to discuss the possibilities and limitations of this approach. The author hopes this paper will be useful in clarifying or even correcting some matters that were discussed in his paper of January of 2018. I was trained informally in philosophical realism, and while I think idealism too has a place, at this time in my life I believe that the weight of evidence and usefulness is more on the side of philosophical materialism. I hope this discussion will help supplement for my readers the material in Number in Mathematical Cryptography. I still maintain that a lack of clarity on these matters has hindered progress in cryptography;and it has taken time for me to better understand these things. I hope others who have interest and ability will assist in making these matters clearer. My intention was to work in pure mathematics, and the transition to an applied mindset was difficult for me. As a result, I feel most comfortable in a more middle-of-the road attitude, but have had to slowly move to a more precise analysis of the physical quantities involved. I hope my readers will be patient with my terminology, which is still evolving, and my discussion of things which are more indirectly related, and which are necessary for my expression. These are important things for the mathematical community to understand, and I hope smarter and more knowledgeable people will address my errors, and improve upon the things I might have correct. I am discussing sequences which are sometimes a use of both ordinal and cardinal numbers.

Project Manager＇s Competencies in Czech Lottery Industry Enterprise

The presented paper analyses competencies of project manager of the enterprises operating on Czech lottery market. The contribution of the paper consists of two parts. The first part focuses on the basic terminology issues and anchors concepts such as project manager and competencies. The second part is dedicated to the analyzing and evaluation of the competencies of ideal project manager of the enterprises operating on Czech lottery market and subsequent presentation and verification. For the analyzing and evaluation of the competencies of ideal project manager, the questionnaire of the scale type with the grade valuation 1-6 was applied within the frame of 20 enterprises operating on the lottery market in Czech Republic. The respondents were from the AG CZ, Ltd. and the competitors of this enterprise. Analyzed data were after the evaluation worked up into the form of graphs. The final output of this paper is the definition of the competencies of ideal project manager operating on Czech lottery market. The paper arose thanks to the project supportted by The Ministry of Education, Slovakia （Project KEGA No. 001DTI-4/2015, proposal of behavior strategies in the difficult social situations in the management of secondary school using the innovative predictive software tools） in cooperation of Dubnicky, Technological lnstitut in Dubnica nad Vahom with AG CZ, Ltd. and The Institute of Technological and Business in Ceske Budejovice.

Study on Features of Interpreting Courses and Interpreting Teaching Strategy of Postgraduate Interpreting Majors from the perspective of the Theory of Sense

With the ever-spreading of international globalization and much frequent communication among countries in politics, economics and culture. Interpretation which serves as communicative bridge between different languages, which has become an important inter-lingual communicative device. In order to meet the demand of the growing need for interpreting talents, more and more institutions of higher learning begin to set up translation and interpretation courses for undergraduate and graduate students. The thesis focuses on making a brief analysis on the present situation of interpreting courses of graduate students in Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region. The thesis is composed of three parts： the first part is a brief analysis of the interpreting features of graduate students in Inner Mongolia, the second part analyzes the principles of interpreting training from the perspective of interpretive theory. The third part is the suggestions for interpreting training so as to make a contribution to the teaching of interpreting in Inner Mongolia.

2014年8月3日云南鲁甸M_(s)6.5地震触发滑坡遥感解译研究

不同地貌环境下的同震触发滑坡类型会有巨大差异,确认同震滑坡类型对认识致灾特征有重要意义。本文以2014年8月3日云南鲁甸M_(S)6.5地震触发滑坡为例,利用多时相高分辨率卫星、航空遥感数据,结合遥感解译及野外调查方法,分析这次中强地震触发滑坡的主体类型。研究结果表明,①本次地震触发滑坡数量6209处,总解译面积9.72km^(2),其中10处面积大于70000m^(2)的滑坡造成震中区主要的堰塞湖堵江、生命线中断等严重灾情;②同震滑坡主体为基岩崩塌,物源区较小、流通区狭长,堆积区沿坡脚倒石堆,具有同震滑坡解译面积大而体积小的特征;③本次鲁甸M_(S)6.5地震触发滑坡具有中国西部高山峡谷地貌背景下的以基岩崩塌为主的特征。以上认识对该地区地震滑坡的定量研究有一定借鉴意义。

Resolution of Hardy’s Paradox within Spacetime Physics and the Ithaca Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics

By religiously adhering to physics in spacetime and taking the final verdict of N.D. Mermin’s Ithaca interpretation of quantum mechanics seriously, Hardy’s paradox is completely resolved. It is then concluded that logical and mathematically consistent physical theories must be put in spacetime related formalism such as noncommutative geometry and E-infinity theory to avoid quantum paradoxes. At a minimum, we should employ the philosophy behind consistent quantum interpretation such as that of the famous Ithaca interpretation of D. Mermin.

An Experiment Report on the Linguistic Readiness of Simultaneous Interpreting Trainees

Linguistic readiness,which refers to language efficiency required for simultaneous interpretation,is different from that in daily communication.This experiment aims at observing the linguistic readiness of simultaneous interpreting trainees,targeting eight post-graduate students majoring in interpretation.After a mock simultaneous interpreting task,the performance of the trainees will be assessed by themselves and three native speakers as well.Through the comparison of the assessment made by the trainees and the native speakers,the author aims at exploring the gap between the number of information points that the trainees think they have delivered and the number that native speakers obtain from the trainees’production,and classifying those information points that could not be understood by native speakers into different types.A conclusion is reached that their linguistic readiness needs to be improved.Therefore,it is necessary to pay more attention to linguistic readiness in interpreting training.
