Regulating Electron-Hole Separation to Promote the Photocatalytic Property of BiOBr<sub>1−x</sub>I<sub>x</sub>/BiOBr Local Distorted Hierarchical Microspheres

In this work, hierarchical BiOBr<sub>1<span style="white-space:nowrap;">&#8722</span>x</sub>I<sub>x</sub>/BiOBr heterojunction photocatalyst with a microsphere morphology was synthesized by a facile solvothermal process. It demonstrated that the local structure of the photocatalysts was highly distorted due to the substitution of bromide ions by iodine ions. The photocatalytic properties were evaluated by the photodecomposition of aqueous phenol solution under visible-light irradiation. The results indicated that all the composite photocatalysts exhibited high photocatalytic activity. In particularly, the BiOBr<sub>1<span style="white-space:nowrap;">&#8722</span>x</sub>I<sub>x</sub>/BiOBr (x = 0.25) sample exhibited over 92% degradation efficiency of phenol within 150 min, which is 24.6 and 3.08 fold enhancement in the photocatalytic activity over the pure phased BiOBr and BiOI, respectively. Moreover, this excellent photocatalytic property can be expanded to other colorless organic contaminants, verifying the common applicability of BiOBr<sub>1<span style="white-space:nowrap;">&#8722</span>x</sub>I<sub>x</sub>/BiOBr (x = 0.25) as an excellent visible-light photocatalyst for organics decomposition. The significant improvement in the photocatalytic activity can be explained by the high efficiency of charge separation due to the enhancement in the internal electric fields and band match that comes from the local structure distortion. This work provides valuable information for the design of highly active photocatalysts toward the environmental remediation. 展开更多

Iodine ion is one of the most indispensable anions in living organisms,particularly being an important substance for the synthesis of thyroid hormones.Curcumin is a yellow-orange polyphenol compound derived from the rhizome of Curcuma longa L.,which has been commonly used as a spice and natural coloring agent,food additives,cosmetics as well as Chinese medicine.However,excess curcumin may cause DNA inactivation,lead to a decrease in intracellular ATP levels,and trigger the tissue necrosis.Therefore,quantitative detection of iodine and curcumin is of great significance in the fields of food and life sciences.Herein,we develop nitrogen-doped fluorescent carbon dots(NCDs)as a multi-mechanism detection for iodide and curcumin in actual complex biological and food samples,which was prepared by a one-step solid-phase synthesis using tartaric acid and urea as precursors without adding any other reagents.An assembled NCDs-Hg^(2+) fluorescence-enhanced sensor for the quantitative detection of I^(-) was established based on a fluorescence“turn-off-on”mechanism in a linear range of 0.3-15μM with a detection limit of 69.4 nM and successfully quantified trace amounts of I^(-) in water samples and urine sample.Meanwhile,the as-synthesized NCDs also can be used as a fluorescent quenched sensor for curcumin detection based on the synergistic internal filtration effect(IFE)and static quenching,achieving a good linear range of 0.1-20μM with a satisfactory detection limit of 29.8 nM.These results indicate that carbon dots are potential sensing materials for iodine and curcumin detection for the good of our health. 展开更多

In this work,a novel blue-green fluorescence phosphorous oxide quantum dots(PO QDs)was synthesized by solvothermal method in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP)solution without any protection treatment during synthesis.Upon excitation at 400 nm,PO QDs emitted blue-green fluorescence with quantum yield of 0.28.PO QDs exhibited the high inertness to air or moisture,the excellent water solubility,and stable emission intensity in a wide pH range and in high ionic strength solution.Interestingly,PO QDs could give the positive optical response to iron ions(Fe^(3+))and iodine ion(I^(-)).The photoluminescence(PL)of PO QDs could be directly quenched by Fe^(3+).While I^(-)quenched the PO QDs PL by means of Ag^(+)-mediated PO QDs system via the internal filtration effects(IFE)induced by the formation of AgI.Moreover,the biocompatibility and low toxicity of PO QDs verified in bean sprout and Hela cells indicated the promising application of PO QDs in medicine related fields.Furthermore,PO QDs could also be utilized in luminescent composite film for various application scenarios. 展开更多
