The corresponding numerical simulations of these models do not only show the trend of the velocity of the particle in different density and particle diameter sizes, but also the relationship between the maximum particle velocity and its diameter size.展开更多

In this model there are two emission components, a boosted one and an unbeamed one, shown up in the radio band as the core and lobe components. The luminosity ratio of the core to the lobe is defined as the core-dominance parameter (R = (LCore/LLobe)). The de-beamed radio luminosity (Ljetdb) in the jet is assumed to be proportional to the unbeamed luminosity (Lub) in the co-moving frame, i.e., f = (Ljetdb/Lub), and f is determined in our previous paper. We further discuss the relationship between BL Lacertae objects (BLs) and flat spectrum radio quasars (FSRQs), which are subclasses of blazars with different degrees of polarization, using the calculated values of the ratio f for a sample of superluminal blazars. We found 1) that the BLs show smaller averaged Doppler factors and Lorentz factors, larger viewing angles and higher core-dominance parameters than do the FSRQs, and 2) that in the polarization-core dominance parameter plot (P-log R) the BLs and FSRQs occupy a scattered region, but in a revised plot (log (P/c(m)) ? log R), they gather around two different lines, suggesting that they have some different intrinsic properties.展开更多

Since 1997, it has been applied to calculate the cloud motion winds for a 1.25 lat. ×1.25 long. mesh over the northwest Pacific region with the satellite data from GMS-5. The development of the tropical cyclones is studied. It shows that the tropical cyclone is usually intrigued by the westerly jet streams at the upper levels of the troposphere, which may be caused by mid-latitude troughs well extending into the tropics. During the prime season of summer, the westerly flowing equatorward of the TUTT may also be a cause for the generation of typhoons.展开更多

The designer should optimize the design parameters of industrial drying equipment to achieve minimum pressure force between multiple jets and a moving curved surface. SST <em>k-ω</em> turbulence model is used to simulate a real geometry for industrial drying applications. The SST <em>k-ω</em> turbulence model succeeded with reasonable accuracy in reproducing the experimental results. The jet to surface distance, jet to jet spacing, jet inlet velocity, jet angle, and surface velocity are chosen as the design parameters. For the optimization of the impinging round jet, the pressure force coefficient on the moving curved surface is set as the objective function to be minimized. The SHERPA search algorithm is used to search for the optimal point from the weighted sum of all objectives method. One correlation is developed and validated for the pressure force coefficient. It is found that the pressure force coefficient is highly dependent on the nozzle to surface distance and jet angle but relatively insensitive to jet inlet velocity, jet to jet spacing, and surface velocity. The minimum pressure force coefficient correlates with a high value of nozzle to surface distance (tenfold diameter in this analysis) and a low value of the jet angle (40? in this analysis). The agreement in the prediction of the pressure force coefficient between the numerical simulation and developed correlation is found to be reasonable and all the data points deviate from the correlation approximately 8% on average.展开更多
