There are good agreements of the onset temperat...The glass transition behavior of La55A125-Ni10CU10 bulk metallic glass was investigated using elec-trical resistivity and differential-scanning calorimetry measurements. There are good agreements of the onset temperature (Tg-onset) and the end temperature (Tg-end) of the glass transition between the DSC curve and tempera-ture dependent electrical resistivity (TER) curve in the same heating rate. Kinetics of the glass transition is studied with the electrical resistivity data. The apparent activation energy of the glass transition (△Eg) is found to be 306.4 kJ.mol^-1. Fragility parameter D^* and VFT temper-ature To are 9.8 and 324.9 K, respectively.展开更多

By using the Arrhenius method, a fragility index of~22 can be estimated in both As_...Ultrafast differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) was employed to investigate the glass transition kinetics of As_2S_3 and As_2Se_3 . By using the Arrhenius method, a fragility index of~22 can be estimated in both As_2S_3 and As_2Se_3 .However, when the scanning rate is more than 200 K·s^(-1), non-Arrhenius behavior can be observed in such "strong" liquids where the Vogel–Fulcher method is more accurate to describe the glass transition kinetics. The fragilities of As_2S_3 and As_2Se_3 glasses are thus extrapolated as 28.3±1.94 and 23.7±1.80, respectively. This indicates that, As_2Se_3 glass has a better structural stability and it is a better candidate for device applications.展开更多

Fragility indexes having different thermodynamic definitions were calculated from the temperature dependence of excess entropy ΔSliq-cry. It is ambiguous for La-based glass-forming liquid to evaluate fragility from the intercepts of ΔSliq-cry-temperature curves. We found that the thermodynamic fragility MΔS,denoted ΔS,decreases at the onset melting temperatures Tm rather than at glass transition temperatures Tg,and relates linearly with the kinetic fragility m. The correlations between thermodynamic fragility and kinetic fragility are discussed within the frameworks of the Adam-Gibbs relationship and potential energy landscape theory.展开更多
