To study the effects of low dose radiation (LDR) on tumor apoptosis, cellcycle progression and changes of apoptosis-related protein Bcl-2 in tumor-bearing mice. Methods:Male mice of Kunming strain were implanted subcutaneously with S180 sarcoma cells in the left inguenas an in situ experimental animal model. Seven days later, the mice were subjected to 75 mGywhole-body γ-irradiation. At 24 and 48 h after the irradiation, all mice were sacrificed. The tumorsizes were measured, and tumor cell apoptosis and cell cycle progression were analyzed by flowcytometry. The expression of apoptosis-related protein Bcl-2 and the apoptotic rate of tumor cellswere observed by immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy. Results: Tumors grew significantlyslower after LDR (P 【 0.05). The tumor cells were arrested in G1 phrase and the expression of Bcl-2protein decreased at 24 h. Apoptotic rate of tumor cells was increased significantly at 48 h afterLDR (P 【 0.01). Conclusion: LDR could cause a G1-phase arrest and increase the apoptosis of tumorcells through the low level of apoptosis-related protein bcl-2 in the tumor-bearing mice. Theorganized immune function and anti-tumor ability are markedly increased after LDR. Our studyprovides practical evidence of clinical application to cancer treatment. 展开更多

On the supposition that the system has a symmetry under translation in charge space, the quantum current and the quantum energy spectrum in the mesoscopic transmission llne are given by solving their eigenvalue equations. Results show that the quantum current and the quantum energy spectrum are not only related to the parameters of the transmission llne, but also dependent on the quantized character of the charge obviously. 展开更多

目的:探讨血清S-100B蛋白、可溶性凝集素样氧化低密度脂蛋白受体-1(sLOX-1)、胶质纤维酸性蛋白(GFAP)与新生儿缺血缺氧性脑病(HIE)病情严重程度的关系。方法:选择80例HIE患儿作为观察组,另选择90例健康新生儿作为对照组,收集所有患儿一... 目的:探讨血清S-100B蛋白、可溶性凝集素样氧化低密度脂蛋白受体-1(sLOX-1)、胶质纤维酸性蛋白(GFAP)与新生儿缺血缺氧性脑病(HIE)病情严重程度的关系。方法:选择80例HIE患儿作为观察组,另选择90例健康新生儿作为对照组,收集所有患儿一般资料,并检测两组患儿血清S-100B蛋白、sLOX-1、GFAP水平,分析HIE患儿血清S-100B蛋白、sLOX-1、GFAP与病情严重程度的相关性及预后不良的影响因素。结果:对照组血清S-100B蛋白、sLOX-1、GFAP水平低于观察组(均P<0.05)。重度组血清S-100B蛋白、sLOX-1、GFAP水平高于中度组、轻度组和对照组(均P<0.05)。Pearson相关分析显示,疾病严重程度与HIE患儿血清S-100B蛋白、sLOX-1、GFAP水平呈正相关(均P<0.001)。随访预后良好患儿59例,预后不良21例,经多因素Logistic回归分析显示,产程异常、病情重度、S-100B蛋白、sLOX-1、GFAP为影响HIE患儿预后的危险因素(均P<0.05)。结论:HIE患儿病情严重程度和预后与血清S-100B蛋白、sLOX-1、GFAP水平有关,监测其水平变化有利于临床早期完善干预方案改善预后。 展开更多

On the basis of the studies on the high unsteady aerodynamic mechanisms of the fruit fly hovering the aerodynamic advantages and disadvantages of the fruit fly flapping motion were analyzed. A new bionic flapping motion was proposed to weaken the disadvantages and maintain the advantages, it may be used in the designing and manufacturing of the micro air vehicles (MAV's). The translation of the new bionic flapping motion is the same as that of fruit fly flapping motion. However, the rotation of the new bionic flapping motion is different. It is not a pitching-up rotation as the fruit fly flapping motion, but a pitching-down rota- tion at the beginning and the end of a stroke. The numerical method of 3rd-order Roe scheme developed by Rogers was used to study these questions. The correctness of the numerical method and the computational program was justified by comparing the present CFD results of the fruit fly flapping motion in three modes, i.e., the advanced mode, the symmetrical mode and the delayed mode, with Dickinson's experimental results. They agreed with each other very well. Subsequently, the aerodynamic characteristics of the new bionic flapping motion in three modes were also numerically simulated, and were compared with those of the fruit fly flap- ping. The conclusions could be drawn that the high unsteady lift mechanism of the fruit fly hovering is also effectively utilized by this new bionic flapping. Compared with the fruit fly flapping, the unsteady drag of the new flapping decreases very much and the ratio of lift to drag increases greatly. And the great discrepancies among the mean lifts of three flapping modes of the fruit fly hovering are effectively smoothed in the new flapping. On the other hand, this new bionic flapping motion should be realized more easily. Finally, it must be pointed out that the above conclusions were just drawn for the hovering flapping motion. And the aerodynamic characteristics of the new bionic flapping motion in forward flight are going to be studied in the next step. 展开更多

The optimal management for low-grade dysplasia(LGD)in Barrett’s esophagus is unclear.In this article the importance of LGD is discussed,including the significant risk of progression to esophageal adenocarcinoma.Endoscopic surveillance is a management option but is plagued by sampling error and issues of suboptimal endoscopy.Furthermore endoscopic surveillance has not been demonstrated to be cost-effective or to reduce cancer mortality.The emergence of endoluminal therapy over the past decade has resulted in a paradigm shift in the management of LGD.Ablative therapy,including radiofrequency ablation,has demonstrated promising results in the management of LGD with regards to safety,cost-effectiveness,durability and reduction in cancer risk.It is,however,vital that a shareddecision making process occurs between the physician and the patient as to the preferred management of LGD.As such the management of LGD should be"individualised." 展开更多

The ongoing uncertainty of the cause(s) of diverticulitis confounds attempts to determine the validity of this therapy. However, the features of a high-fiber diet represent a logical contradiction for colon diverticulitis. Considering that Bernoulli&rsquo;s principle, by which enlarged diameter of the lumen leads to increased pressure and decreased fluid velocity, might contribute to development of the diverticulum. Thus, theoretically, prevention of high pressure in the colon would be important and adoption of a low FODMAP diet (consisting of fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols) may help prevent recurrence of diverticulitis. 展开更多

Systematic experiments about the antitumor effects of low energy laser irradiation combined with the traditional antitumor medicine of cyclophosphamide were conducted using the experimental model of mouse S180 ascites sarcoma.The three groups of tumor bearing mice were irradiated upon the inner corners with the dosages of 11 00,14 67 and 22 00 J·cm -2 LELI respectively,and injected with CYT intraperitoneally to observe the changes of the survival time,the ascites growth speed,and the kinetic changes of immune functions.The survival times of the three groups of CYT/LELI combination were obviously longer than those of the tumor and CYT control groups.Correspondingly,the amounts of ascites,tumor cells densities and total tumor cells in CYT/LELI groups decreased significantly,while the death ratio of the tumor cells increased.Comparatively,the group of 22 00 J·cm -2 LELI combined with CYT showed the most ideal antitumor effects,and the life prolongation ratio was up to 53 20%. 展开更多

Saturation evaluation of microporous low resistivity carbonate oil pays in Rub Al Khali Basin in the Middle East 被引量:1

To solve the problem that it is difficult to identify carbonate low resistivity pays(LRPs) by conventional logging methods in the Rub Al Khali Basin, the Middle East, the variation of fluid distribution and rock conductivity during displacement were analyzed by displacement resistivity experiments simulating the process of reservoir formation and production, together with the data from thin sections, mercury injection and nuclear magnetic resonance experiments. In combination with geological understandings, the genetic mechanisms of LRPs were revealed, then the saturation interpretation model was selected, the variation laws and distribution range of the model parameters were defined, and finally an updated comprehensive saturation interpretation technique for the LRPs has been proposed. In the study area, the LRPs have resistivity values of less than 1 Ω·m, similar to or even slightly lower than that of the water layers. Geological research reveals that the LRPs were developed in low-energy depositional environment and their reservoir spaces are controlled by micro-scale pore throats, with an average radius of less than 0.7 μm, so they are typical microporous LRPs. Different from LRPs of sandstone and mudstone, they have less tortuous conductive paths than conventional reservoirs, and thus lower resistivity value under the same saturation. Archie’s formula is applicable to the saturation interpretation of LRPs with a cementation index value of 1.77-1.93 and a saturation index value of 1.82-2.03 that are 0.2-0.4 lower than conventional reservoirs respectively. By using interpretation parameters determined by classification statistics of petrophysical groups(PGs), oil saturations of the LRPs were calculated at bout 30%-50%,15% higher than the results by conventional methods, and basically consistent with the data of Dean Stark, RST, oil testing and production. The 15 wells of oil testing and production proved that the coincidence rate of saturation interpretation is over 90%and the feasibility of this method has been further verified. 展开更多

Methods $180 subcutaneously implanted tumor model mice were randomly divided into two groups: control (N) and low dose radiation (LDR) groups. N mice were sacrificed after 12 h, whereas LDR mice were sacrificed after 12 (LDR-12 h), 24 (LDR-24 h), 48 (LDR-48 h), and 72 (LDR-72 h) h. Thereafter, we measured the tumor volumes. Histopathology was performed, and P-V immunohistochemistry was applied to assess MMP-2 and TIMP-2 expression. Results Compared with the control group, the tumor growth was significantly inhibited in the LDR groups (P 〈 0.05). MMP-2 expression was considerably reduced in LDR-24h (P 〈 0.05) and LDR-48h (P 〈 0.05), whereas the change of TIMP-2 was not obvious in the LDR groups (P 〉 0.05) in contrast to that of the control group. Conclusion LDR can effectively suppress the growth of S180 implanted tumors by reducing MMP-2, which is associated with invasion and metastasis. 展开更多

Consumption rate of larvae after peptide(s) treatment on mulberry leaves was significantly enhanced over control. The nonradiative charge-transfer processes of Be3+(1s)/B4+(1s)colliding with He(1s2)are investigated by the quantum-mechanical molecular orbital close-coupling(QMOCC)method from 10 eV/u to 1800 eV/u.Total and state-selective cross sections are obtained and compared with other results available.Although the incident ions have the same number of electrons and collide with the same target,their cross sections are different due to the differences in molecular structure.For Be3+(1s)+He(1s2),only single-electron-capture(SEC)states are important and the total cross sections have a broad maximum around E=150 eV/u.While for B4+(1s)+He(1s2),both the SEC and double-electron-capture(DEC)processes are important,and the total SEC and DEC cross sections decrease rapidly with the energy decreasing. 展开更多

The wear resistance of austenitic stainless steels can be improved by thermo-chemical surface treatment with nitrogen and carbon. However, it is possible that the corrosion resistance will be impaired by the precipitation of chromiumnitrid or -carbide. The present contribution deals with investigations of the corrosion behaviour and structural characteristics of a low temperature nitrided and carburised austenitic stainless steel. The material investigated was AISI 316L (X2CrNiMol7-12-2) austenitic stainless steel. A commercial plasma-nitriding unit (pulsed dc) was used for the nitriding and carburising process. Additional samples were treated by the gasoxinitriding process for a comparison between plasma- and gasoxinitriding. The nitrided and carburised layer of austenitic stainless steel consists of the nitrogen or carbon S-phase (expanded austenite), respectively. X-ray diffraction investigations show the typical shift of the peaks to lower angles, indicating expansion of the fee lattice. Also the X-ray diffraction technique was employed to study the residual stresses in the nitrogen and carbon S-phase. The corrosion behaviour of surface engineered samples was investigated with electrochemical methods. Anodic potentiodynamic polarisation curves were recorded for testing the resistance against general corrosion (in H2SO4) and pitting corrosion (in NaCl). 展开更多

Background and Purpose: The relapsed low grade non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (LG-NHL) is currently?incurable disease and the optimal treatment regimen has not determined yet. Low dose total body irradiation (LTBI) provides an alternative mechanism of action against cancer cells rather than direct cell kill. The mode of action of LTBI is immune-modulatory effect, induction of apoptosis and?hypersensitivity to low radiation doses. The aim of our study is to evaluate the effect of LTBI on relapsed?LG-NHL and reporting our experience at National Cancer Institute, Cairo (NCI, Cairo). Material and Methods: Fifty eight patients with relapsed LG-NHL and received LTBI studied retrospectively.?LTBI dose was 1.6 Gy/8 fractions divided on 2 courses;each course 4 fractions treated over 4 days with 2 weeks rest between the 2 courses. Results: The median age is 54 years;65% of the patients are men. Forty (69%) patients had performance status of 2 or more. Twenty seven patients were stage II/III and 31 patients (53%) had stage IV disease. Twenty six (45%) patients had bulky disease more than 10 cm and 22 (38%) patients had B symptoms at the time of relapse. The?extranodal disease was present in 17 patients (29%) and 78% of the patients received?>3 regimens of chemotherapy before referral to LTBI. Twenty three patients received IFRT (mean dose 32 ± 4 Gy) to initially bulky sites after LTBI. Fourteen patients (24%) achieved complete remission (CR) while 45%, 21% and 10% had partial remission (PR), stable disease (SD) and progressive disease (PD) respectively. The median PFS duration was 14 months and the median OS duration?was 39 months. Stage VI,?>3 regimen of chemotherapy and bad response to LTBI (SD) affected?progression duration adversely (0.03, 0.05 and 0.01 respectively). The response to LTBI is the only factor affected the OS duration significantly. The 3-year PFS was 19% ± 9%, and 3-year OS was 45% ± 8%. Stage IV was the only factor affected the 3-year PFS significantly with p value 0.03. The hematological toxicity was the main side effect of LTBI. Eleven patients developed G3/4 anemia while 8 patients only developed G3/4 thrombocytopenia and 13 patients developed G3/4 leucopenia. Conclusion: The use of LTBI in patients with relapsed low grade NHL is a feasible, effective and tolerable treatment that is worthy of testing in a future with chemotherapy and Rituximab maintenance. 展开更多
