[Method] The resistance of 119 rice landraces to rice stripe virus was identified in field spontaneously infected with smal plant-hopper. [Result] There were 55 landraces resistant to rice strip disease in 56 indica rice landraces, but on-ly two resistant to rice strip disease in 63 japonica rice landraces. [Conclusion] The results revealed that there were abundant rice landscapes resistant to RSV in Chi-na, and these varieties can be used to develop more genes resistant to RSV.展开更多

The total number of alleles detected from all 324 tested accessions was 555 with an average allele number (Na) of 8.409 per locus, the average effective number of alleles (Ne) of 3.574 and the average Shannon's information index (I) of 1.378. The genetic diversity was higher for the indica landraces compared to the japonica landraces, and the upland landraces were more genetically diverse than the lowland landraces. The SSR markers, RM72, RM232, RM219, RM241, RM224 and RM3 showed the highest rates of polymorphism and these SSR markers were suitable to assess the genetic diversity of rice germplasm resources. A dendrogram of 324 accessions of lowland and upland landraces showed that all rice accessions were mainly subdivided into two groups, japonica and indica, with some being intermediate. The distribution of lowland and upland landraces among the japonica and indica rice groups was distinct, with obvious differentiation between the lowland and upland landraces in japonica rice, but no such clear distinction in indica rice.展开更多

Red rice pericarp is rich in proanthocyanins, which have antioxidant properties and are beneficial to human health. In the present study, we analyzed the red-pericarp gene Rc of 419 rice landraces in Guangxi by genome-wide association study (GWAS), and validated that the Rc gene regulated the red periearp trait in flee. By analyzing the genomie DNA of 97 red-pericarp flee eultivars, we identified two new alleles in C139 and C323. Then, the exons of Rcc'9 and Rcc were sequenced with Sanger method, and the results demonstrated that the natural mutations within Re ene resulted in the two alleles Rcc and Rcc.展开更多

A total of 92 accessions of rice landraces were divided into seven groups according to their local names, but the morphological traits showed large variations even within the same group as well as between household and genebank conservations. The SSR marker analysis showed that, in all the groups except Group E, the allelic variations within each subgroup of the household conservation were less than those of the genebank conservation, indicating the household-conserved rice landraces’ many-generation purifcation from natural and artifcial selections in the process of their cultivation year after year; and the similarity coeffcient among the household rice landraces was the highest except for Groups C and E. Thus, the study suggested that the same-name or similar-name rice resources retained by farmers would be valuable for collection and evaluation.展开更多

The varieties analyzed by 11 RAPD and 8 ISSR primers yielded an average of 65% and 80% polymorphism, respectively. The average number of polymorphic bands generated per RAPD primer was 6 and per ISSR primer was 5.87. RAPD and ISSR data analysis individually could not segregate basmati and non-basmati scented rice accessions. However, the analysis using a combined data could group basmati and non-basmati scented rice accessions separately. The bands present specifically among three accessions of non-basmati scented rice were also identified. The study revealed a high genetic diversity among non-basmati scented rice accessions.展开更多

The results indicated that agronomic characteristics of the landrace varieties, such as plant height, panicle length and number of effective panicles of landraces had no significant difference at different altitudes, whereas, those agronomic traits fluctuated in the modern varieties. In the Yuanyang terrace area, the Yuanyang landraces showed greater diversity in phenotype and better adaptation compared to the modern varieties.展开更多
