Experimental study on load bearing behavior of large-scaled caps with pile groups

The objective of this investigation was to study the behavior of deep pile caps and the ultimate load-carrying capacity. Four 1/10 scaled models of nine-pile caps were cast and tested on vertical loads to failure. The destruction shapes of pile caps,the correlation between load and displacement,and the internal stresses were analyzed systematically. The results demonstrated that the failures of all the four models are resulted from punching shear; the internal flow of the forces in nine-pile caps can be approximated by "strut-and-tie" model. Furthermore,the failure loads of these specimens were predicted by some of the present design methods and the calculated results were compared with the experimental loads. The comparative results also indicated that the "strut-and-tie" model is a more reasonable design method for deep pile caps design.

Super Large-scaled Bauxite Deposit Detected in Guizhou Province

Recently, the Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration and Development of Guizhou Province detected an about 140 million tons resource in Zheng＇an County, 100 million tons of which was bauxite. This is the second detected super large-scaled bauxite deposit after the Dazhuyuan bauxite deposit in Wuchuan County.

A research into the large-scaled spatial forms of cities based on urban design

In the process of unprecedented urbanization in contemporary China, a great many of Chinese cities have witnessed a rapid expansion of urban scale to different degrees. With the continuous compilation, amendment and enforcement of urban planning, the functional structure, spatial environment, street patterns and textures and even the social aspect of cities have changed conspicuously, all of which have directly happened to the spatial forms of the dimension, or even the multi-dimension of a certain city. By describing and analyzing the structure, evolution and explicit tokens of the spatial forms of cities, this thesis attempts to set up a model of factors that affect urban forms, as well as discuss the attributes, protection, adjustment and development-potential of urban land closely associated with forms. In addition, on the basis of the professional features for urban design to participate in the modeling and construction-management of desirable spatial forms of cities, the author has put forward technical measures for quantitatively appraising and analyzing the large-scaled spatial forms of cities, thus offering technical support to municipal governments and management departments of planned construction.

On Issues of Large-Scale and Long-Distance Transmission of Wind Power

While having constantly developed for five years,China's wind power meets its bottleneck of further development in fast-growing areas due to the insufficient market accommodation.In contrast,the Central China and the East China have experienced the shortage of coal,oil and natural gas for power generation in recent winters.Hence,how to handle the discrepancy between insufficient accommodation and short energy supply has become the focus of attention both domestically and abroad.Taking Jiuquan Wind Power Base as an example,the reverse distribution between the energy resources and the consumer market,the wind power accommodation and the energy transmission are analyzed;the necessity and feasibility of long-distance power transmission are also discussed,which presents a technical roadmap for the long-distance transmission of thermal and wind power in combination.

Recommendations for Large-scale Farmland Operation in Hilly Areas Based on Long Tail Theory

At the background of urban and rural integration,this paper analyzed and discussed factors restricting large-scale farmland operation in China's hilly areas from the qualitative perspective. It recognized large-scale farmland operation on the basis of the long tail theory. Finally,it came up with recommendations for developing large-scale farmland operation in hilly areas.
