Application of Multimedia and Internet Technology in Learning Mould Design

With the use of multimedia which combines the use o f text, sound, images, motion video and animation, it is more efficient for studen ts to learn mould design interactively. A program is created using several multi media software to simulate the mechanism of moulding processes in order to let s tudents understand the concept of mould design. In addition, students can even access the program through the Internet. Therefore, the software is defined as Multimedia and Internet Technology (MIT) program. The MIT program consists of four sections: (i) simulation of mould mechanisms, ( ii) cooling system, (iii) material information and (iv) games for tutorials. Sec tion One covers the basic operations of different types of moulds such as two-p late mould, three-plate mould, split mould, side-core mould and mould with und ercuts. Section Two introduces different types of cooling systems such as bubble r, baffle, cooling circuits, etc. Section Three provides some useful material in formation for mould design. Section Four contains games of matching mould compon ents, mould design problem finding and multiple choice questions to test student s how much they understand mould design concept. Multimedia is highly effective particularly in teaching and learning. It changes the nature of learning itself. It makes reading dynamic by giving words an impo rtant new dimension. It allows students to see, hear and do simultaneously, thus significantly reducing average learning time. Furthermore, through cooperative learning on Internet, students can access the program, share data or search info rmation anytime anywhere. Therefore, Multimedia and Internet Technology is one o f the vital aspects to speed up the realization of information age in society. 展开更多

With the prosperity of the Internet,e-learning has been greatly improved. By supporting multiple learners and multiple roles in a learning activity,the IMS Learning Design (LD) specification provides a collaborative scenario for participants. However,IMS LD provides insufficient support for interaction among learning activities and can not dynamically integrate learning resources to meet the continually changing service requirements. In this paper,a Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) enhanced requirement driven learning management architecture to address the issues of personalize adaptive learning was proposed. It models the learning activity by combining IMS LD with BPEL and matches optimal learning sequence based on Case-based reasoning (CBR) method. By providing expandable secure learning sequences flexibly,it satisfies the different actual demands for personalize learning. 展开更多

生物医学工程学科是一门结合了工学、理学以及生物医学的交叉学科,目前许多生物医学工程相关企业迫切需要大量具有实用创新能力的从业工作人员。因而培养出社会急需的素质高、能力强的生物医学工程人才,是目前急需解决的问题。DCL(Desig... 生物医学工程学科是一门结合了工学、理学以及生物医学的交叉学科,目前许多生物医学工程相关企业迫切需要大量具有实用创新能力的从业工作人员。因而培养出社会急需的素质高、能力强的生物医学工程人才,是目前急需解决的问题。DCL(Design Centered Learning)是以项目为中心的教学模式,该模式以荷兰埃因霍温科技大学的教学方法为模型,强调对教学环境的创设,在教学安排中明确老师、助教和学生的角色任务,精心设计教学案例并合理规划研究进程,着重强化学生的创新、实践、合作、展示、实验、设计等能力培养。该模式应用于东北大学的教学实践,在生物医学工程专业人才培养质量、学生就业能力、教师队伍建设等方面取得了明显成效,该案例的成效对其他专业人才培养也具有十分积极的借鉴意义。 展开更多

Tangible augmented reality (TAR) technology opens a novel realm which integrates the computer-generated elements into the real word. Its applications into design education have been explored with a limi-tation to this entire area. TAR offers an innovative learning space by merging digital learning materials into the format of media with tools or objects which are direct parts of the physical space. It is therefore conceived that such combination opens new perspectives in teaching and learning. This paper presented and evaluated one TAR system to improve the pedagogical effectiveness of experiential and collaborative learning process in urban design education. The results from the experiments were analyzed under a previously developed theoretical framework, which show that TAR can enhance the design activities in some collaborative work. 展开更多
