This paper investigates the organizational culture of one of the largest auto manufacturers in the world Toyota Motor Corporation using various corporate culture and management models. The investigation was conducted in 2009 using qualitative analysis with the help of various secondary sources. The study reveals that the company's management style can be characterized as the Family type that implies collectivistic society with male domination, strict rules and laws at work, and long-term orientation. It is also based on several essential principles, such as continuous improvement and learning, respect for people, mutual trust, and teamwork. Two core elements of the Toyota's success are technological innovations and qualified human resources. 展开更多

Intellectual Capital, Corporate Culture and Performance of Firms Listed on Nairobi Securities Exchange

The broad objective of this study was to establish the moderating effect of corporate culture on the relationship between intellectual capital and organizational performance of firms listed on Nairobi Securities Exchange. The review of literature provided conceptual and empirical gaps that formed the basis of the conceptual hypotheses. Two hypotheses were deduced from general objective: Intellectual capital has a significant influence on corporate performance; corporate culture moderates the relationship between intellectual capital and corporate performance. A cross-section research design was adopted. A survey questionnaire was the main tool of data collection and was distributed to the 50 heads of human resource departments in the different firms' period covering four financial years from 2009 to 2012. The study also utilized secondary data obtained from Capital Market Authority Statistical bulletins and Nairobi Securities Exchange Handbook 2012-2013 to collect data on financial performance (ROA, ROE, and Dividend Yield). Data were tested for reliability results showing that study dimensions were reliable, apart from task-oriented culture that had a Cronbach alpha of 0.262, thus being not considered for further analysis; thus the study relied on employee-oriented culture as a measure of corporate culture. The hypotheses were tested using multiple regression analysis and hierarchical regression respectively. Multiple regression analysis showed that intellectual capital had a significant influence on non-financial performance and no significant influence on financial measures of performance (ROA, ROE, and Dividend Yield). Test for moderation showed that the interaction term was not significant and thus, employee-oriented culture did not moderate the relationship between intellectual capital and corporate performance. The study demonstrates importance of the influence of intellectual capital on non-financial performance of firms listed on Nairobi Securities Exchange. The results show that interplay among human capital, social capital, and organization capital is important for firms listed on Nairobi Securities Exchange and that the firms should nurture the employees into sharing their knowledge by creating internal and external networks and also creating support system within the organization to retain the knowledge. 展开更多

The present work aims to explain more deeply the theory of the image of tourist destination and its process of formation, specifically regarding the factors that influence the above-mentioned process. For this purpose, the knowledge of two fields of study, the image of the tourist destination and the corporate image, is combined in order to analyse their possible interdependent relationship. To explore the possible relations between both elements, a theoretical model has been developed and confirmed using a survey carried out on a sample of 307 Korean citizens. The results reveal that the degree of familiarity of the Spanish companies in South Korea can be considered to be a more influential factor in the image of Spain as a tourist destination. This fact might have important economic implications, since tourism is turning into a key driver of socio-economic progress. 展开更多

Since 2006, the public corporations in China are required to include its social responsibilities in its annual report by company law. Corporations’ business activities should not only focus on maximizing its economic profit but also serve the society. With the awareness of the importance of social responsibility, there are an increasing number of public corporations in China to undertake more charitable activities or employee training activities. There have been a lot of academic researches investigating the relationship between corporate social responsibilities and corporate financial performance. However, the results are inconsistent and vary according to different industries. This study chose Chinese culture, sports and entertainment industry as a sample to test the relationship between CSR and corporate financial performance. Four financial ratios were used to test whether the caproate’s reasonability to government, employee, investors and society has significant impact on its financial performance. The empirical results show that apart from the responsibility to employees which is negatively influence the corporate financial performance the other three factors are found not significantly influence corporate financial performance. 展开更多

Compared with the persons, this temperament and style, is the result of the collision, agitation, adjustments, tuning and optimized, representing the collective personality. Instead leaded by the individual consciousness, it is collective, organizational personality and style expressed by individual deeds and awareness and. Based on data from China’s A-share listed companies from 2008 to 2017,this paper examines the influence of the contemporary values of Confucianism,namely benevolence,righteousness,propriety,wisdom,and fidelity on the effectiveness of internal control.It indicates a significant positive correlation between the contemporary values of Confucianism and the effectiveness of internal control.Furthermore,this positive influence is noticeable in family-owned businesses but is unobserved in foreign-invested enterprises in China.In addition,the contemporary values of Confucianism enhance internal control quality through two pathways:promotion incentives and corporate reputation.In regions with lower degrees of openness,lower levels of rule of law and slower marketization,or in companies facing operational crises,the contemporary values of Confucianism have a more pronounced effect on enhancing the effectiveness of internal control.The contemporary values of Confucianism have strengthened the ability of internal control to decrease agency costs and mitigate the negative influence of internal control on risk-taking. 展开更多

Using a sample of A-share listed companies from the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges from 2010 to 2020,this study examines the impact of membership in non-local chambers of commerce(NLCCs)on corporate innovation,considering the dual attributes of business culture and social networks associated with these chambers.The research finds that joining a NLCC significantly promotes corporate innovation.Agency costs play a partial mediating role between membership in NLCCs and corporate innovation,with a chain mediation path of“NLCC-social capital-agency costs-corporate innovation.”Further analysis reveals that the more NLCCs there are in a company’s location,the greater the positive impact of joining one on corporate innovation.The promotion effect of joining a NLCC on corporate innovation is stronger for state-owned enterprises(SOEs)compared to non-state-owned enterprises(non-SOEs).In addition,membership in NLCCs fosters both invention and non-invention innovation. 展开更多

为了深入研究企业集体主义文化与组织韧性之间的关系,本文从社会网络视角出发,以2012—2021年我国沪深A股上市公司面板数据作为样本,研究了企业集体主义文化对组织韧性的影响作用,以及企业商业社会资本、企业政治社会资本在企业集体主... 为了深入研究企业集体主义文化与组织韧性之间的关系,本文从社会网络视角出发,以2012—2021年我国沪深A股上市公司面板数据作为样本,研究了企业集体主义文化对组织韧性的影响作用,以及企业商业社会资本、企业政治社会资本在企业集体主义文化与组织韧性之间发挥的中介效应。研究结果表明:1)企业集体主义文化对组织韧性的影响系数为0.5137,且在1%的水平上显著,表明企业集体主义文化对组织韧性起着正向的促进作用。2)企业集体主义文化对企业商业社会资本的回归系数为11.9419,且在5%的水平上显著,表明企业集体主义文化与企业商业社会资本之间存在正相关关系,即企业集体主义文化能够促进企业商业社会资本的积累。企业集体主义文化对组织韧性的影响在加入中介变量企业商业社会资本后依然显著,回归系数为0.5171,且在1%的水平上显著,而企业商业社会资本对组织韧性的回归系数为0.0003,且在5%的水平上显著,表明企业商业社会资本在企业集体主义文化与组织韧性之间发挥着中介效应。3)企业集体主义文化对企业政治社会资本的回归系数为0.9354,且在10%的水平上显著,表明企业集体主义文化与企业政治社会资本之间存在正相关关系,即企业集体主义文化能够促进企业政治社会资本的积累。企业集体主义文化对组织韧性的影响在加入中介变量企业政治社会资本后依然显著,回归系数为0.5087,且在1%的水平上显著,而企业政治社会资本对组织韧性的回归系数为0.0054,且在10%的水平上显著,表明企业政治社会资本在企业集体主义文化与组织韧性之间同样也发挥着中介效应。 展开更多

基于制度理论,并基于277个国家级烈士纪念设施的地理位置数据,以2009—2020年中国沪深两市A股上市公司为研究样本,实证检验了红色文化对企业绿色创新的影响。研究发现:红色文化能够显著促进企业绿色创新,而外来文化的冲击和正式制度环... 基于制度理论,并基于277个国家级烈士纪念设施的地理位置数据,以2009—2020年中国沪深两市A股上市公司为研究样本,实证检验了红色文化对企业绿色创新的影响。研究发现:红色文化能够显著促进企业绿色创新,而外来文化的冲击和正式制度环境的完善会削弱红色文化对企业绿色创新的促进作用。机制检验表明:管理者的绿色创新意识和奉献精神是红色文化促进企业绿色创新的两条作用机制。进一步研究发现:红色文化对企业绿色创新的促进作用在国有企业和所在地公众环保意识更强的企业中更显著,而企业所属行业是否亲近消费者对此促进作用的影响并未有显著不同。研究结论从微观企业角度揭示了红色文化对企业绿色创新影响的作用机理,为解决红色文化“本体论”困境提供了理论支持与经验证据,亦为政府部门重视红色文化等非正式制度的社会治理功能提供了管理启示。 展开更多

【目的】探究建筑企业文化内部传播过程及传播路径。【方法】根据建筑企业文化传播特性,建立基于传染病动力学模型的建筑企业文化内部传播模型并模拟企业文化的传播过程,以揭示建筑企业文化内部传播机理。【结果】在企业文化的传播过程... 【目的】探究建筑企业文化内部传播过程及传播路径。【方法】根据建筑企业文化传播特性,建立基于传染病动力学模型的建筑企业文化内部传播模型并模拟企业文化的传播过程,以揭示建筑企业文化内部传播机理。【结果】在企业文化的传播过程中,对企业文化了解程度不同的各群体人数最终会趋于稳定,并达到动态平衡。在传播初期,企业中的高级管理层与管理层是传播主体;在传播过程中,普通员工具有传播学的主客体二重性。说服力、转信率和离职率的提升与文化传播速度、文化传播效果成正相关,而弃信率、拒信率的提升与之成负相关。【结论】建筑企业文化传播会经历兴起、强化、转变三个阶段。普通员工是企业文化的主要传播力量,直接影响传播效果与传播速度。企业可以围绕宣传、沟通、制度三方面制定相应措施,以改善文化传播效果。 展开更多
