Recent experiments have demonstrated the realization of the three-dimensional quantum Hall effect in highly anisotropic crystalline materials, such as ZrTe|_5 and BaMnSb_2. Such a system supports chiral surface states in the presence of a strong magnetic field, which exhibit a one-dimensional metal-insulator crossover due to suppression of surface diffusion by disorder potential. We study the nontrivial surface states in a lattice model and find a wide crossover of the level-spacing distribution through a semi-Poisson distribution. We also discover a nonmonotonic evolution of the level statistics due to the disorder-induced mixture of surface and bulk states. 展开更多

The level statistics of the even-even Yb isotopes are studied by using the energy levels calculated by the projected shell model. The spectrum of intrinsic states and band energies are also studied to discuss the generation of chaoticity. The energy dependence of the chaoticity is investigated, and a chaos to order transition is found. 展开更多

Classical-quantum correspondence has been an intriguing issue ever since quantum theory was proposed. The search- ing for signatures of classically nonintegrable dynamics in quantum systems comprises the interesting field of quantum chaos. In this short review, we shall go over recent efforts of extending the understanding of quantum chaos to relativistic cases. We shall focus on the level spacing statistics for two-dimensional massless Dirac billiards, i.e., particles confined in a closed region. We shall discuss the works for both the particle described by the massless Dirac equation (or Weyl equation) and the quasiparticle from graphene. Although the equations are the same, the boundary conditions are typically different, rendering distinct level spacing statistics. 展开更多
