A plate type structure of ductile cast iron has been used to undergo fatigue damage in a servopulsing machine in the experiment. AE sensors were attached to the specimen for getting the time delay of AE signal propagations through the specimen. After receiving the time delay data of AE signals due to the damage initiation in the material for the provided fatigue loads, linear source location algorithm has been applied and the crack positions are identified. Before applying the technique, a series of pencil lead breaks (PLBs) tests have been conducted upon a ductile cast iron plate of same dimension for verifying the applied algorithm. According to the PLBs varification, the failure location of ductile cast iron (pearlite type) due to the fatigue loading has been characterized. In both experiments, the active ability of the proposed technique for source location of structural damage has been identified clearly and successfully.展开更多
Productivity is a very important element in the process of construction project management especially with regard to the estimation of the duration of the construction activities, this study aims at developing constru...Productivity is a very important element in the process of construction project management especially with regard to the estimation of the duration of the construction activities, this study aims at developing construction productivity estimating model for marble finishing works of floors using Multivariable Linear Regression technique (MLR). The model was developed based on 100 set of data collected in Iraq for different types of projects such as residential, commercial and educational projects. Which these are used in developing the model and evaluating its performance. Ten influencing factors are utilized for productivity forecasting by MLR model, and they include age, experience, number of the assist labor, height of the floor, size of the marbles tiles, security conditions, health status for the work team, weather conditions, site condition, and availability of construction materials. One model was built for the prediction of the productivity of marble finishing works for floors. It was found that MLR have the ability to predict the productivity for finishing works with excellent degree of accuracy of the coefficient of correlation (R) 90.6%, and average accuracy percentage of 96.3%. This indicates that the relationship between the independent and independent variables of the developed models is good and the predicted values from a forecast model fit with the real-life data.展开更多

The unsteadiness in the flow and temperature is caused by the time-dependent stretching velocity and surface temperature. A similarity transformation is used to reduce the governing boundary-layer equations to couple higher order non-linear ordinary differential equations. These equations are numerically solved using quasi-linearization technique. The effect of the governing parameters unsteadiness parameter and Prandtl number on velocity and temperature profile is discussed. Besides the numerical results for the local skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number are presented. The computed results are compared with previously reported work.展开更多

Evaluation research was utilized in this study where 20 people, from various ages and professions, were chosen purposively as respondents of the study. The study found out that CT was very effective for the respondents especially in unlocking difficulties in solving consecutive number problems. Moreover, according to them, the CT is easy to use, it is engaging and enjoyable, direct and simple and can be utilized as shortcut way of solving consecutive number problems when competing in Math quiz bees or taking board examinations where time is of the essence.展开更多

Thus, the scheme gets rid of the requirement of the current schemes for an assumed order of the oscillator trajectory passing through different linear regions. The improved system is achieved by adjusting a single sensor to di erent positions. Based on the system, a system of linear equations is built by fusing the sensor outputs to cancel out the e ects of the straightness and tilt errors. Three constraints are then derived and supplemented into the linear system to make the coe cient matrix full rank. To restrain the sensitivity of the solution of the linear system to the measurement noise in the sensor outputs, the Tikhonov regularization method is utilized. After the surface profile is obtained from the solution, the straightness and tilt errors are identified from the sensor outputs. To analyze the e ects of the measurement noise and the positioning errors of the sensor and the linear slideway, a series of computer simulations are carried out. An experiment is conducted for validation, showing good consistency. The new four-sensor method with the improved measurement system provides a new way to measure the straightness and tilt errors of a linear slideway, which can guarantee favorable propagations of the residuals induced by the noise and the positioning errors.展开更多

Based on the Doppler effect and heterodyne technology, the information is loaded of length variation to the frequency difference of the multi-beam laser heterodyne signal by the frequency modulation of the oscillating mirror, this method can obtain many values of length variation caused by temperature variation after the multi-beam laser heterodyne signal demodulation simultaneously. Processing these values by weighted-average, it can obtain length variation accurately, and eventually obtain the value of linear expansion coefficient of metal by the calculation. This novel method is used to simulate measurement for linear expansion coefficient of metal rod under different temperatures by MATLAB, the obtained result shows that the relative measurement error of this method is just 0.4%.展开更多

The variational principles of potential energy action and complementary energy action, the H-W principles, the H-R principles and the constitutive variational principles for elastodynamics are obtained. Hamilton's principle, Toupin's work and the formulations of Ref. [5], [17]-[24] may be regarded as some special cases of the general principles given in the paper. By considering three cases: piecewise space-time domain, piecewise space domain, piecewise time domain, the piecewise variational principles including the potential, the complementary and the mixed energy action fashions are given. Finally, the general formulation of piecewise variational principles is derived. Based on relaxation techniques an algorithm for solving (LP) is proposed, which is efficient from a computational viewpoint, since at each iteration the only program that needs to solve is a standard linear program. Furthermore, the optimality criterion is derived. The convergence analysis conducted in this paper indicates that the algorithm guarantees finite ε convergence.

文摘From the concept of four-dimensional space and under the four kinds of time limit conditions, some general theorems for elastodynamics are developed, such as the principle of possible work action, the virtual displacement principle, the virtual stress-momentum principle, the reciprocal theorems and the related theorems of time terminal conditions derived from it. The variational principles of potential energy action and complementary energy action, the H-W principles, the H-R principles and the constitutive variational principles for elastodynamics are obtained. Hamilton's principle, Toupin's work and the formulations of Ref. [5], [17]-[24] may be regarded as some special cases of the general principles given in the paper. By considering three cases: piecewise space-time domain, piecewise space domain, piecewise time domain, the piecewise variational principles including the potential, the complementary and the mixed energy action fashions are given. Finally, the general formulation of piecewise variational principles is derived. If the time dimension is not considered, the formulations obtained in the paper will become the corresponding ones for elastostatics.
文摘Consider the regression model, n. Here the design points (xi,ti) are known and nonrandom, and ei are random errors. The family of nonparametric estimates of g() including known estimates proposed by Gasser & Muller[1] is also proposed to be a class of new nearest neighbor estimates of g(). Baed on the nonparametric regression procedures, we investigate a statistic for testing H0:g=0, and obtain some aspoptotic results about estimates.
文摘The virtual displacement principle of elasto-plastic damage mechanics is presented. A linear complementary method for elasto-plastic damage problem is proposed by using FEM technique. This method is applicable to solving the damage structure analysis of hardened and softened nonlinear material.
文摘Technical stability:allowing quantitative estimation of trajectory behavior of a dynamical system over a given time interval was considered. Based on a differential comparison principle and a basic monotonicity condition, technical stability relative to certain prescribed state constraint sets of a class of nonlinear time-varying systems with small parameters was analyzed by means of vector Liapunov function method. Explicit criteria of technical stability are established in terms of coefficients of the system under consideration. Conditions under which the technical stability of the system can be derived from its reduced linear time-varying (LTV) system were further examined, as well as a condition for linearization approach to technical stability of general nonlinear systems. Also, a simple algebraic condition of exponential asymptotic stability of LTV systems is presented. Two illustrative examples are given to demonstrate the availability of the presently proposed method.

文摘This paper investigates the random responses of a TDOF structure with strongly nonlinear coupling and parametric vibration. With the nonlinear cou- pling of inertia in the equations of motion of the system being removed by successive elimination, the non-Gaussian moment equation method (NGM) is applied and 69 moment equations are integrated with central cumulative truncation technique. The stochastic central difference-cum-statistical linearization method(SCD-SL) and the digital simulation method(DSM) are also used. A comparison of results by different methods are given and the SCD-SL method is the most efficient method.
