The disorder is common in type 2 diabetics (T2D) and is linked with T2D comorbidities, particularly cardiovascular disease. Dyslipidemia in T2D is typically characterized by elevated plasma triglyceride and low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels. There is a significant gap in the literature regarding dyslipidemia in rural parts of Africa, where lipid profiles may not be captured through routine surveillance. This study aimed to characterize the prevalence and demo-graphic profile of dyslipidemia in T2D in the rural community of Ganadougou, Mali. We performed a cross-sectional study of 104 subjects with T2D in Ganadougou between November 2021 and March 2022. Demographic and lipid profiles were collected through cross-sectional surveys and serological analyses. The overall prevalence of dyslipidemia in T2D patients was 87.5% (91/104), which did not differ by sex (P = .368). High low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) was the most common lipid abnormality (78.9%, [82/104]). Dyslipidemia was associated with age and hypertension status (P = .013 and.036, respectively). High total and high LDL-C parameters were significantly associated with hypertension (P = .029 and .006, respectively). In low-resource settings such as rural Mali, there is a critical need to improve infrastructure for routine dyslipidemia screening to guide its prevention and intervention approaches. The high rates of dyslipidemia observed in Gandadougou, consistent with concomitant increases in cardiovascular diseases in Africa suggest that lipid profile assessments should be incorporated into routine medical care for T2D patients in African rural settings.展开更多

DM-related dyslipidemia are associated with complications resulting from progressive damage of various organs. CD36 is 88-kD, class B scavenger receptor, expressed on different types of cells. In diabetic patients, LDL particles are glycated with strong level;this increases CD36 expression, initiates foam cell formation and accelerates atherosclerosis. Objective: This study aimed to determine the correlation between serum CD36 level and lipid profile among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Zeenam Specialized center, Khartoum State, Sudan, in a period between 2019 and 2022. Methodology: Hundred participants at different ages were included in this study;70 were type 2 diabetic patients (cases) and 30 apparently healthy individual (control). 3 ml of venous blood were collected from the participants by using a sterile needle and syringe into a labeled plain container. Each sample was stood until complete clot occurs. Clotted blood sample was then centrifuged to obtain the serum. Then they were used for measurement of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglyceride and soluble CD36 levels. Total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides were measured using Biosystem chemistry analyzer BTS-302. Serum CD36 was measured using Microplate Reader (URIT-660). Results: The results revealed that serum total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels were significantly higher in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus compared with control (P = 0.03, P = 0.031, P = 0.000, P = 0.000) respectively, while there is no statistically significant differences in serum CD36 level between cases and control (P = 0.129). Also this study showed that there is no statistically significant correlation between serum CD36 level and total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, age and body mass index. Conclusion: This study concluded that there is no statistically significant difference in serum CD36 level between cases and control. And sCD36 level was not correlated with total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, body mass index, and age.展开更多

Whether this is true for individual diabetic patients is unknown. Methods: We studied eight type 2 diabetic individuals and measured serial lipid panels to determine the effect of a large lunch meal. A “Big Mac” equivalent meal was fed to each volunteer and blood for lipid assays was obtained at baseline and hourly for five hours following the meal. Results: The meal induced a significant elevation of glucose, insulin, and c-peptide in each volunteer. In addition, the following lipid parameters significantly changed from baseline concentration during the meal: total cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides. Furthermore, the timing of the blood draw post meal also was a determinant of the lipid concentration. No significant concentration change occurred in HDL-cholesterol. Conclusions: In type 2 diabetic patients, lipid panels should be drawn in the fasting state unless the only lipid parameter of interest is HDL-cholesterol.展开更多

Results The levels of serum total cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and apolipoprotein(Apo) AI were lower in Bai Ku Yao than in Han(P【0.01 for all).The frequency of A and G alleles was 98.00%and 2.00%in Bai Ku Yao,and 95.20%and 4.80%in Han(P【0.01);respectively. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly separated into 3 groups: the control group was fed standard chow;the NASH group was fed a methionine-choline-deficient high-fat diet (MCD);the NASH-exercise group was fed the MCD and exercised three times a week. Exercise training consisted of continuous running for thirty minutes at a 13 m/min, 6° slope on a motor-driven rodent treadmill for 6 weeks. Mitochondria content in NASH group decreased in the both fiber types compared with those of the control group. As compared between the NASH and NASH-exercise groups, however, exercise not only promoted significant improvements in liver fibrosis and cirrhosis and triglyceride (TG) content but also increased mitochondria content in type I muscle fiber in particular. These data suggest that exercise improved hepatic steatosis in NASH model rats and can prevent the progression of NASH.展开更多

Type 2 diabetes (T2MD) is the most common form of diabetes which results from inefficiency of insulin secretion or resistance to insulin action, both of which lead to chronic hyperglycemia. Lipid peroxidation is an oxidative stress process that involve in T2DM complications. This study aimed to 1) determine plasma malondialdehyde (MDA) levels as a biomarker for lipid peroxidation in Sudanese patients with T2DM, and 2) assess the associations between MDA and diabetes-related variables. Material and Methods: This case-control study was conducted from November 2022 to June 2023 at the National University, Sudan. It included 100 participants, of whom 50 were T2DM patients and 50 were healthy controls. Data on demographics, clinical characteristics, and biochemical markers (FBS, HbA1c, and MDA) were collected. The NycoCard HbA1c method and the GOD-POD Method were used for HbA1c and glucose measurement, respectively. MDA was determined by the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances method. The data were analyzed using SPSS Version. Results: Significant differences were observed between T2DM patients and healthy controls in FBS (P = 0.000), HbA1c (P = 0.000), and MDA (P = 0.010), with T2DM patients exhibiting higher levels. The study revealed a strong positive correlation between MDA levels and the duration of diabetes (r = 0.69, P = 0.00), while other variables, including age, BMI, and glucose control, did not significantly correlate with MDA levels. Conclusion: Findings revealed elevated MDA levels in Sudanese T2DM patients, with a positive correlation between MDA and diabetes duration. These findings emphasize the importance of oxidative stress in T2DM pathogenesis and call for the need for targeted strategies to mitigate oxidative damage and improve diabetes care.展开更多

The use of a proper diet treatment is one of the therapeutic approaches of patients. The use of the soy has shown the effective results in glycemic control of patients with type 2 diabetes;however, data are paradoxical. The present study aimed to examine the effectiveness of soy nuts on glycemic control, blood pressure and lipid profile and insulin-resistance of the diabetic patients. Methods: In this case-control study 69 type 2 diabetic patients were randomly divided into two groups: intervention (n = 35) and control (n = 34). The patients in the intervention group substituted 60 grams of soy nuts as a part of the daily protein requirement for eight weeks. In contrast, the patients in the control group received usual diet of diabetes (no soy). The drugs received by patients had not been changed during the intervention period. Before and at the end of the intervention, Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), serum insulin levels, insulin-resistance, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-c), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-c) and total cholesterol, and triglycerides (TG) were measured in the patients. Insulin-resistance was calculated by Homeostatic model assessment-IR formula (HOMA-IR). Results: Soy consumption significantly lowered FPG (P = 0.03), HbA1c (P P = 0.01), insulin-resistance (P = 0.01), total cholesterol (P P = 0.01), but did not have any significant effect on systolic blood pressure (P = 0.4), diastolic blood pressure (P = 0.2), HDL-c (P = 0.4) and TG (P = 0.2). Conclusion: Consumption of soy nuts in type 2 diabetic patients can cause an improvement in the glycemic control and insulin-resistance, and the lipid profile does not have any significant effect on blood pressure.展开更多

Therefore, the aim of this research article was to study hyperglycemia and abnormal lipid profile in diabetic patient type 2 and its correlation with oxidative stress development as measured by 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG. Methods: Fifty (50) patients confirmed type 2 diabetes mellitus and eighty (80) non-diabetic control individuals were included in this study. All individuals were tested for blood glucose, lipid profile, 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG HdG. Results: The age of diabetic patients was observed to be ≥40 yrs in 96% and diabetes was frequently detected in female than in male patients (76% vs. 24%, p ere elevated in diabetic patients compared with control individuals (p < 0.0001) except in HDL-C, a significant decrease was recorded (p = 0.04). Serum 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG were elevated significantly in diabetic patients compared with non-diabetic control and a significant correlation was recorded between them (r = 0.6, p α was associated with Age (r = 0.394, p < 0.0001), FBG (0.553, p < 0.0001), LDL-C (r = 0.2, p = 0.023), TG (r = 0.176, p = 0.045) and TC (r = 0.2, p = 0.02). Also, 8-OHdG was associated with age (r = 0.558, p < 0.0001), FBG (r = 0.67, p < 0.0001), LDL-C (r = 0.28, p = 0.001), TG (r = 0.358, p < 0.0001) and TC (r = 0.33, p < 0.0001). Age, FBG, HbA1c, LDL-C, TG and TC showed a significant linear regression with 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG recording its role as significant predictors for the elevation of 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG. Therefore, hyperglycemia with oxidative stress development may play a role for dyslipidemia and diabetic complications. Conclusion: Diabetic patient’s type 2 has a higher rate of abnormal serum lipids and correlates significantly with lipid peroxidation and oxidized DNA bases as measured by 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG. Therefore, 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG could be used as oxidative biomarkers for evaluating diabetic patients with early prediction of its complications and cancer development.展开更多

文摘Background The association of E670G polymorphism in the proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) gene and serum lipid profiles is inconsistent in dif- ferent ethnic groups.Bai Ku Yao is a special subgroup of the Yao minority in China.The present study was undertaken association of PCSK9 E670G polymorphism and several environmental factors with serum lipid levels in the Guangxi Bai Ku Yao and Han populations.Methods A total of 649 subjects of Bai Ku Yao and 646 participants of Han Chinese were randomly selected from our previous stratified randomized cluster samples.Genotyping of the PCSK9 E670G polymorphism was performed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism combined with gel electrophoresis,and then confirmed by direct sequencing. Results The levels of serum total cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and apolipoprotein(Apo) AI were lower in Bai Ku Yao than in Han(P【0.01 for all).The frequency of A and G alleles was 98.00%and 2.00%in Bai Ku Yao,and 95.20%and 4.80%in Han(P【0.01);respectively. The frequency of AA,AG and GG genotypes was 95.99%,4.01%and 0%in Bai Ku Yao,and 91.02%, 8.36%and 0.62%in Han(P【0.01);respectively.There were also significant differences in the genotypic and allelic frequencies between n and the ratio of ApoAI to ApoB in Han Chinese but not in Bai Ku Yao were different between the AA and AG/GG genotypes(P【0.05 for all).The G allele carriers had higher serum HDL-C and higher ApoAI to ApoB ratio than the G allele noncarriers.When serum lipid parameters in Han were analyzed according to sex,the G allele carriers had higher serum HDL and ApoAI levels in males (P【0.05),and lower ApoB level and higher ApoAI to ApoB ratio in females(P【0.05 for all).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that serum HDL-C levels were correlated with genotypes in both ethnic groups(P【0.05 each).Serum lipid parameters were also correlated with sex,age,body massindex,alcohol consumption,cigarette smoking,and blood pressure in both ethnic groups(P【0.05-0.001).Conclusions These results suggest that the PCSK9 E670G polymorphism is mainly associated with some serum lipid parameters in the Han population,both gender show different relations to different serum lipid parameters.The G allele carriers might have higher serum lipid profiles than the G allele noncarriers. ormal LDL-C(≤3.20 mmol/L) and high LDL-C subgroups (】 3.20 mmol/L,P【0.01;respectively) in Bai Ku Yao, and between normal ApoB(≤1.14 g/L) and high ApoB subgroups(】 1.14 g/L,P 【 0.01;respectively) in Han.
文摘We studied the effects of exercise on muscle mitochondria, and lipid and glycogen content in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) model rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly separated into 3 groups: the control group was fed standard chow;the NASH group was fed a methionine-choline-deficient high-fat diet (MCD);the NASH-exercise group was fed the MCD and exercised three times a week. Exercise training consisted of continuous running for thirty minutes at a 13 m/min, 6° slope on a motor-driven rodent treadmill for 6 weeks. Mitochondria content in NASH group decreased in the both fiber types compared with those of the control group. As compared between the NASH and NASH-exercise groups, however, exercise not only promoted significant improvements in liver fibrosis and cirrhosis and triglyceride (TG) content but also increased mitochondria content in type I muscle fiber in particular. These data suggest that exercise improved hepatic steatosis in NASH model rats and can prevent the progression of NASH.
文摘Background and objectives: Diabetes is a chronic multifactorial disease which requires a variety of strategies to reduce its epidemic. Type 2 diabetes (T2MD) is the most common form of diabetes which results from inefficiency of insulin secretion or resistance to insulin action, both of which lead to chronic hyperglycemia. Lipid peroxidation is an oxidative stress process that involve in T2DM complications. This study aimed to 1) determine plasma malondialdehyde (MDA) levels as a biomarker for lipid peroxidation in Sudanese patients with T2DM, and 2) assess the associations between MDA and diabetes-related variables. Material and Methods: This case-control study was conducted from November 2022 to June 2023 at the National University, Sudan. It included 100 participants, of whom 50 were T2DM patients and 50 were healthy controls. Data on demographics, clinical characteristics, and biochemical markers (FBS, HbA1c, and MDA) were collected. The NycoCard HbA1c method and the GOD-POD Method were used for HbA1c and glucose measurement, respectively. MDA was determined by the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances method. The data were analyzed using SPSS Version. Results: Significant differences were observed between T2DM patients and healthy controls in FBS (P = 0.000), HbA1c (P = 0.000), and MDA (P = 0.010), with T2DM patients exhibiting higher levels. The study revealed a strong positive correlation between MDA levels and the duration of diabetes (r = 0.69, P = 0.00), while other variables, including age, BMI, and glucose control, did not significantly correlate with MDA levels. Conclusion: Findings revealed elevated MDA levels in Sudanese T2DM patients, with a positive correlation between MDA and diabetes duration. These findings emphasize the importance of oxidative stress in T2DM pathogenesis and call for the need for targeted strategies to mitigate oxidative damage and improve diabetes care.
文摘目的分析脾瘅方加减联合二甲双胍治疗肥胖型2型糖尿病(Diabetes mellitus type 2,T2DM)患者的临床疗效及对其血脂、胰岛素抵抗指数(Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance,HOMA-IR)的影响。方法选取2022年1月—2023年2月期间就诊于济宁市中医院的肥胖型T2DM患者100例作为研究对象,按随机数表法分为对照组和观察组,每组各50例。对照组常规服用二甲双胍0.5 g/次,3次/d;观察组在对照组基础上加用脾瘅方对症加减治疗。治疗12周后观察比较两组患者临床疗效,治疗前后血糖指标[血糖(Fasting blood glucose,FBG)、餐后2 h血糖(2-hour postprandial blood glucose,2 h PBG)、糖化血红蛋(Glycosylated hemoglobinA1c,HbA1c)]、中医证候积分、血脂指标[总胆固醇(Total cholesterol,TC)、甘油三酯(Triglycerides,TG)、低密度脂蛋白(Low density lipoprotein,LDL-C)]、胰岛素指标[空腹胰岛素(Fasting insulin,FINS)、胰岛素抵抗指数(Homeostasis Model Assessment-Insulin Resistance,HOMA-IR)、胰岛β细胞功能指数(Homeostatic model assessment ofβ-cell function,HOMA-β)]及炎症因子[白介素-6(Interleukin-6,IL-6)、超敏C反应蛋白(Highsensitivity C-reactive protein,hs-CRP)]水平。结果治疗后观察组临床总有效率94.00%(47/50)明显高于对照组78.00%(39/50),差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。治疗后两组患者血糖FBG、2 h PBG、HbAlc指标及中医证候积分均较治疗前降低,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);且观察组血糖FBG、2 h PBG、HbAlc指标及中医证候积分均明显低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。治疗后两组患者血脂指标TG、TC、LDL-C均较治疗前降低,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);且观察组血脂指标TG、TC、LDL-C均明显低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。治疗后两组患者胰岛素FINS、HOMA-IR指标均较治疗前降低,HOMA-β指标均较治疗前升高,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);且观察组胰岛素FINS、HOMA-IR指标明显低于对照组,HOMA-β指标明显高于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。治疗后两组患者炎症因子IL-6、hs-CRP水平均较治疗前降低,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);且观察组炎症因子IL-6、hs-CRP水平均明显低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论脾瘅方加减联合二甲双胍治疗肥胖型T2DM患者能有效调节血糖、血脂水平,改善胰岛素抵抗,减轻炎症反应,临床疗效显著。
文摘Type 2 diabetes has a high prevalence and a growing trend. The use of a proper diet treatment is one of the therapeutic approaches of patients. The use of the soy has shown the effective results in glycemic control of patients with type 2 diabetes;however, data are paradoxical. The present study aimed to examine the effectiveness of soy nuts on glycemic control, blood pressure and lipid profile and insulin-resistance of the diabetic patients. Methods: In this case-control study 69 type 2 diabetic patients were randomly divided into two groups: intervention (n = 35) and control (n = 34). The patients in the intervention group substituted 60 grams of soy nuts as a part of the daily protein requirement for eight weeks. In contrast, the patients in the control group received usual diet of diabetes (no soy). The drugs received by patients had not been changed during the intervention period. Before and at the end of the intervention, Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), serum insulin levels, insulin-resistance, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-c), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-c) and total cholesterol, and triglycerides (TG) were measured in the patients. Insulin-resistance was calculated by Homeostatic model assessment-IR formula (HOMA-IR). Results: Soy consumption significantly lowered FPG (P = 0.03), HbA1c (P P = 0.01), insulin-resistance (P = 0.01), total cholesterol (P P = 0.01), but did not have any significant effect on systolic blood pressure (P = 0.4), diastolic blood pressure (P = 0.2), HDL-c (P = 0.4) and TG (P = 0.2). Conclusion: Consumption of soy nuts in type 2 diabetic patients can cause an improvement in the glycemic control and insulin-resistance, and the lipid profile does not have any significant effect on blood pressure.
文摘Background: Oxidative stress has been closely linked to the incidence of diabetic complications. Therefore, the aim of this research article was to study hyperglycemia and abnormal lipid profile in diabetic patient type 2 and its correlation with oxidative stress development as measured by 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG. Methods: Fifty (50) patients confirmed type 2 diabetes mellitus and eighty (80) non-diabetic control individuals were included in this study. All individuals were tested for blood glucose, lipid profile, 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG HdG. Results: The age of diabetic patients was observed to be ≥40 yrs in 96% and diabetes was frequently detected in female than in male patients (76% vs. 24%, p ere elevated in diabetic patients compared with control individuals (p < 0.0001) except in HDL-C, a significant decrease was recorded (p = 0.04). Serum 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG were elevated significantly in diabetic patients compared with non-diabetic control and a significant correlation was recorded between them (r = 0.6, p α was associated with Age (r = 0.394, p < 0.0001), FBG (0.553, p < 0.0001), LDL-C (r = 0.2, p = 0.023), TG (r = 0.176, p = 0.045) and TC (r = 0.2, p = 0.02). Also, 8-OHdG was associated with age (r = 0.558, p < 0.0001), FBG (r = 0.67, p < 0.0001), LDL-C (r = 0.28, p = 0.001), TG (r = 0.358, p < 0.0001) and TC (r = 0.33, p < 0.0001). Age, FBG, HbA1c, LDL-C, TG and TC showed a significant linear regression with 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG recording its role as significant predictors for the elevation of 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG. Therefore, hyperglycemia with oxidative stress development may play a role for dyslipidemia and diabetic complications. Conclusion: Diabetic patient’s type 2 has a higher rate of abnormal serum lipids and correlates significantly with lipid peroxidation and oxidized DNA bases as measured by 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG. Therefore, 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHdG could be used as oxidative biomarkers for evaluating diabetic patients with early prediction of its complications and cancer development.
文摘目的探讨司美格鲁肽对2型糖尿病(T2DM)合并高脂血症患者糖脂代谢的影响。方法选取2022年1月至2023年12月在江苏大学附属武进医院内分泌科住院及门诊收治的T2DM合并高脂血症患者共166例,男79例,女87例,予司美格鲁肽皮下注射治疗,比较用药前、后的腰围(WC)、体重指数(BMI)、总胆固醇(TC)、甘油三酯(TG)、高密度脂蛋白胆固醇(HDL-C)、低密度脂蛋白胆固醇(LDL-C)、空腹血糖(FBG)、早餐后2小时血糖(2 h PBG)、糖化血红蛋白(HbA1c)的变化。结果司美格鲁肽治疗1个月后,FBG、2 h PBG、TC、TG、LDL-C、HDL-C、BMI较治疗前降低,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);治疗3个月后FBG、2 h PBG、HbA1c、TC、TG、LDL-C、WC、BMI较治疗前降低,其中FBG、2 h PBG、TC、TG、LDL-C、WC、BMI较治疗1个月后进一步下降,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论司美格鲁肽治疗T2DM伴高脂血症,可有效改善患者血糖、体格指标及血脂谱。
