Small-time local controllability (STLC) of the attitude dynamics of the spacecraft-SGCMGs system is analyzed via nonlinear controllability theory. The conditions that guarantee STLC of the spacecraft attitude by two non-coaxial SGCMGs are obtained with the momentum of the SGCMGs as inputs, implying that the spacecraft attitude is STLC when the total angular momentum of the whole system is zero. Moreover, our results indi- cate that under the zero-momentum restriction, full attitude stabilization is possible for a spacecraft using two non-coaxial SGCMGs. For the case of two coaxial SGCMGs, the STLC property of the spacecraft cannot be determined. In this case, an improvement to the previous full attitude stabilizing control law, which requires zero-momentum presumption, is proposed to account for the singu- larity of SGCMGs and enhance the steady state performance. Numerical simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the new control law.展开更多

Methods: From Jan. 1999 to Oct. 2007, a total of 107 patients with rectal cancer were reviewed. They were treated by preoperative radiotherapy, 30 Gy/10 fractions/12 days. Two weeks later, the patient underwent a surgical operation. Their pathological samples were kept in our hospital before and after radiotherapy. Lymphocyte infiltration (LI) degree, pathologic degradation and fibrosis degree after radiotherapy in paraffin section were evaluated under microscope. Results: After followed-up of 21 months (2-86 months), a total of 107 patients were reviewed. Univariate analysis showed that lymphocyte infiltration (LI), fibrosis and pathologic changes after radiotherapy were significant factors on local control. Logistic regression analysis showed that LI after radiotherapy was a significant effect factor on local control. Conclusion: LI, fibrosis and pathologic degradation after radiotherapy are significant for local control of rectal cancer after preoperative radiotherapy. LI after radiotherapy was a significantly prognostic index for local control of rectal cancer after preoperative radiotherapy.展开更多

When initial tumor staging is considered a high accuracy has been reported for T pre-treatment staging, while preoperative lymph node mapping is still suboptimal. With respect to tumour re-staging, all the current available modalities still present a limited accuracy, in particular in defining a complete response. The role of short vs long-course radiotherapy regimens as well as the optimal time of surgery are still unclear and under investigation by means of ongoing randomized trials. Observational management or local excision following tumour complete response are promising alternatives to total mesorectal excision, but need further evaluation, and their use outside of a clinical trial is not recommended. The preoperative selection of patients who will benefit from neoadjuvant radiotherapy or not, as well as the proper identification of a clinical complete tumour response after combined treatment modalities, will influence the future directions in the treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer.展开更多

We aimed to assess the outcome and prognostic factors in a multicenter population of women treated for primary ULMS. Methods: We retrospectively collected data of 110 women treated in 19 institutions of the Rare Cancer Network (RCN). Inclusion criteria consisted of a pathology report confirming the diagnosis of ULMS, aged 18-80 years, complete International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage information, complete information on treatment, and a minimum follow-up of 6 months. Local control (LC) and locoregional control (LRC), overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) rates were computed using the Kaplan-Meier method. Univariate analysis was implemented using the log rank test, and multivariate analysis using the Cox model. Results: All patients underwent surgery. Seventy-five patients (68%) received adjuvant radiotherapy (RT), including brachytherapy in 18 (I 6%). Seventeen patients (15 %) received adjuvant chemotherapy. Median follow-up was 58 (range, 6-240) months. Five-year OS and DFS rates were 50% and 34%, and LC and LRC rates were 88% and 72%, respectively. On multivariate analysis, independent favorable prognostic factors were younger age, FIGO stage I, small tumor size, previous uterine disease, and no vascular invasion for OS and DFS. FIGO stage was the only favorable factor influencing LRC. Adjuvant local or systemic treatments did not improve the outcomes. Eight patients treated with RT presented a grade 3 acute toxicity, and only one patient with grade 3 late toxicity. Conclusions: In this large population of primary ULMS patients, we found good results in terms of LC and LRC. Nevertheless, OS remains poor, mainly due to the occurrence of distant metastases. An early diagnosis seemed to improve the prognosis of the patients. Adjuvant local or systemic treatments, or more aggressive surgical procedures such as the Wertheim procedure, did not seem to impact the outcome.展开更多

The mean prescription dose was 45 Gy(40 to 50 Gy in 4-5 fractions). Local relapse, defined as recurrence within the planning target volume was assessed with intravenous multiphase contrast computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging every 4-6 mo after completion of SBRT. Progression of cirrhosis was evaluated by CP and Model for End Stage Liver Disease scores every 3-4 mo. Toxicities were graded per the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events(v4.03). Median follow-up was 24 mo.RESULTS Forty-nine HCC lesions among 40 patients were analyzed in this IRB approved retrospective study. Median tumor diameter was 3.5 cm(1.5-8.9 cm). Six patients with tumors ≥ 5 cm completed planned selected transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) in combination with SBRT. Eight patients underwent orthotropic live transplant(OLT) with SBRT as a bridging treatment(median time to transplant was 12 mo, range 5 to 23 mo). The Pathologic complete response(PCR) rate in this group was 62.5%. The 2-year in-field local control was 98%(1 failure). Intrahepatic control was 82% and 62% at 1 and 2 years, respectively. Overall survival(OS) was 92% and 60% at 1 and 2 years, with a median survival of 41 mo per Kaplan Meier analysis. At 1 and 2 years, 71% and 61% of patients retained CPA status. Of the patients with intrahepatic failures, 58% developed progressive cirrhosis, compared to 27% with controlled disease(P = 0.06). Survival specific to hepatic failure was 92%, 81%, and 69% at 12, 18, and 24 mo. There was no grade 3 or higher toxicity. On univariate analysis, gross tumor volume(GTV) < 23 cc was associated with freedom from CP progression(P = 0.05), hepatic failure-specific survival(P = 0.02), and trended with OS(P = 0.10).CONCLUSION SBRT is safe and effective in HCC with early cirrhosis and may extend waiting time for transplant in patients who may not otherwise be immediate candidates.展开更多

The aim of this study is to compare the results of hypofractionated radiation therapy versus conventional radiation therapy in terms of local control and tolerance. It was a retrospective study of patients observations collected from January 2007 to December 2008 in Department of Radiation Therapy in Institut National d’Oncologie de Rabat. The treatment results were evaluated by the rate of locoregional recurrence, distant recurrence and research of late toxicities. Radiotherapy was delivered using the same technique in both groups, by gamma photons of cobalt 60 with an energy of 1.25 MeV. They were 2 groups: the first group treated with standard dose rate and the second group treated by hypofractionated radiation therapy. The mean age of the patients was 42.8 ± 6.9 years old in the standard group and 43.22 ± 7.2 years old in the hypofractionation group. We noted a predominance of infiltrating ductal carcinoma. The majority of patients were pT2, pN0 and pN1. The majority of patients had radical surgery and chemotherapy with anthracyclines in both groups. We noted a statistically significant difference in the irradiation of chest wall between the standard (89.2%) and hypofractionated group (70.3%), with p = 0.043. The median duration of radiation therapy was statistically different in both groups: 39 days in the standard and 23 days in the hypofractionated group (p 0.001). The local recurrences were statistically identical to 12 and 24 months (p = 0.999). Concerning toxicities, the frequency of adverse event was similar in both groups. Hypofractionated radiation therapy with a total dose of 42 Gy at 2.8 Gy per fraction in 5 fractions weekly is comparable to standard radiotherapy in terms of local control and tolerance and is therefore a very good alternative to standard treatment.展开更多

Consider this equation with locally distributed control forces and some boundary condition which is the simply supported boundary condition for a rectangular plate. In this paper, the authors establish exact controllability of the system in terms of the equivalence to exact internal controllability of the wave equation, by means of a frequency domain characterization of exact controllability introduced recently in [11].展开更多

However, among these patients, the incidence of brain metastases (BM) has been increasing and an increased proportion of them have died of intracranial progression, which makes HER2-positive breast cancer brain metastases (BCBM) a critical issue of concern. For local control of limited BM, stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and surgical resection are available modalities with different clinical indications. Postoperative or preoperative radiation is usually delivered in conjunction with surgical resection to boost local control. Adjuvant whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) should be deferred for limited BM because of its impairment of neurocognitive function while having no benefit for OS. Although WBRT is still the standard treatment for local control of diffuse BM, SRS is a promising treatment for diffuse BM as the technique continues to improve. Although large molecules have difficulty crossing the blood brain barrier, trastuzumab-containing regimens are critical for treating HER2-positive BCBM patients because they significantly prolong OS. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors are more capable of crossing into the brain and they have been shown to be beneficial for treating BM in HER2-positive patients, especially lapatinib combined with capecitabine. The antiangiogenic agent, bevacizumab, can be applied in the HER2-positive BCBM scenario as well. In this review, we also discuss several strategies for delivering drugs into the central nervous system and several microRNAs that have the potential to become biomarkers of BCBM.展开更多

文摘Thermoelectric devices(TEDs),including thermoelectric generators(TEGs) and thermoelectric coolers(TECs) based on the Seebeck and Peltier effects, respectively, are capable of converting heat directly into electricity and vice versa.Tough suffering from low energy conversion efficiency and relatively high capital cost,TEDs have found niche applications, such as the remote power source for spacecraft,solid-state refrigerators, waste heat recycling, and so on.In particular, onchip integrable micro thermoelectric devices(μ-TEDs),which can realize local thermal management,on-site temperature sensing, and energy harvesting under minor temperature gradient, could play an important role in biological sensing and cell cultivation,self-powered Internet of Things(IoT),and wearable electronics. In this review, starting from the basic principles of thermoelectric devices,we summarize the most critical parameters for μ-TEDs,design guidelines, and most recent advances in the fabrication process. In addition, some innovative applications of μ-TEDs,such as in combination with microfluidics and photonics, are demonstrated in detail.
文摘OBJECTIVE To evaluate the curative effect of external beam radiothera-py (EBRT) and brachytherapy (BT) for tongue carcinoma. METHODS From 1991 to 2003, 35 patients received EBRT and BT in our department. We analyzed their curative and side effects retrospectively. RESULTS Local control was 80%. The 3-year overall (OS) and disease specific survival (DSS) rates were 75% and 79%. One patient developed metastases. Three patients (9%) developed different late complications. CONCLUSIONS Local regional control, survival, and complications in patients with tongue carcinoma treated by EBRT and BT have been satis-factory.
文摘Hypofractionated radiation therapy has proven effective on locoregional control and tolerance in the adjuvant treatment of breast cancer. Hypofractionated radiation therapy with a total dose of 42 Gy at 2.8 Gy per fraction in 5 fractions weekly is comparable to standard radiotherapy in terms of local control and tolerance and is therefore a very good alternative to standard treatment.

文摘A sequential design and global optimization method is proposed to coordinately design local and widearea controllers to enhance the overall stability of largescale power system. The sequential design is used to assign the distributed local power system stabilizer (LPSS) and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) wide-area stabilizing controller (HVDC-WASC) to the concerned damping modes. The global optimization is used to simultaneously optimize all the overall control gains of LPSSs and HVDCWASC.Moreover, the optimization model, which has an adaptive ability of searching and updating dominant oscillation modes,is established. Both the linear analysis and nonlinear simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed design method in enhancing the stability of large-scale power systems.

文摘When the rotatory inertia is taken into account, vibrations of a linear plate can be described by the Kirchhoff plate equation. Consider this equation with locally distributed control forces and some boundary condition which is the simply supported boundary condition for a rectangular plate. In this paper, the authors establish exact controllability of the system in terms of the equivalence to exact internal controllability of the wave equation, by means of a frequency domain characterization of exact controllability introduced recently in [11].

文摘A local control strategy is presented to switch the consensus value for the first-order multi-agent system. When the local proportional controller is employed in the multiagent systems, the Laplacian matrix of the system is changed. It is proved that the changed Laplacian has the same properties as the Laplacian matrix of the original multi-agent system for the consensus.Based on this, the parameter of the local controller, which can guarantee that all the agents change the original consensus value into the desired one,is determined in terms of the matrix calculation and the stability criterion. In practice, the control system must be implemented in the discrete form. Thus, the influence of the sampling period on the stability of the discrete multi-agent system with the local controller is analysed. The simulation results show the validity of the proposed method.

文摘This paper studies the stabilization problem of uniform Euler-Bernoulli beam with a nonlinear locally distributed feedback control. By virtue of nonlinear semigroup theory, energy-perturbed approach and polynomial multiplier skill, the authors show that, corresponding to the different values of the parameters involved in the nonlinear locally distributed feedback control, the energy of the beam under the proposed feedback decays exponentially or in negative power of time t as t →∞.

文摘For wave equations with variable coefficients on regions which are not necessarily smooth, we obtain a sufficient condition for the subregion on which the application of control will yield the exact controllability property by using piecewise multiplier method and Riemannian geometry method. Some examples are presented.
文摘A new local control spline based on shape parameters with G^2 continuity, called BLC-spline,is pro- posed. Not only is BLC-spline very smooth, but also the spline curve's characteristic polygon has only three control vertices, and the characteristic polyhedron has only nine control vertices. The behavior of lo- cal control of BLC-spline is better than that of the other splines such as cubic Bezier,B and Beta-spline.The three shape parameters β_0,β_1 and β_2 of BLC-spline,which are independent of the con- trol vertices, may be altered to change the shape of the curve or surface. It is shown that BLC-spline may be used to construct a space arc spline for DNC machining directly. That is a powerful tool for the design and manufacture of curves and surfaces in integrated CAD/CAM systems.

文摘The stabilization problem of a nonuniform Timoshenko beam system With coupled locally distributed feedback controls is studied. First, by proving the uniqueness of the solution to the related ordinary differential equations, we establish the asymptotic decay of the energy corresponding to the closed loop system. Then, by virtue of piecewise multiplier method, we prove the exponential decay of the closed loop system.

文摘In this article, we study the stabilization problem of a nonuniform Euler-Bernoulli beam with locally distributed feedbacks. Firstly, using the semi-group theory, we establish the well-posedness of the associated closed loop system. Then by proving the uniqueness of the solution of a related ordinary differential equations, we derive the asymptotic stability of the closed loop system. Finally, by means of the piecewise frequency domain multiplier method, we prove that the corresponding closed loop system can be exponentially stabilized by only one of the two distributed feedback controls proposed in this paper.

文摘After the introduction of trastuzumab, a monoclonal antibody that binds to human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), the overall survival (OS) among patients with HER2-positive breast cancer has been substantially improved. In this review, we also discuss several strategies for delivering drugs into the central nervous system and several microRNAs that have the potential to become biomarkers of BCBM.
