Recently the bombardment of nano-scale materials with low-energy ions gained much attention. Comared to bulk materials, nano-scale materials show different physical and chemical properties. In this article, we employed molecular dynamics simulations to study the damage caused by low-energy ion irradiation on copper nanowires. By simulating the ion bombardment of 5 different incident energies, namely, 1 keV, 2 keV, 3 keV, 4 keV and 5 keV, we found that the sputtering yield of the incident ion is linearly proportional to the energies of incident ions. Low-energy impacts mainly induce surface damage to the nanowires, and only a few bulk defects were observed. Surface vacancies and adatoms accumulated to form defect clusters on the surface, and their distribution are related to the type of crystal plane, e.g. surface vacancies prefer to stay on (100) plane, while adatoms prefer (110) plane. These results reveal that the size effect will influence the interaction between low-energy ion and nanowire.展开更多

Clusters undergo deformation as a result of the slowing down;they may also become epitaxial with the substrate and maintain their core-shell structure. A detailed analysis of the effects of the cluster-surface interaction is conducted over a realistic size and energy range, and a model is created to show how clusters accumulate. It is discovered that both the silver shells and the cobalt cluster cores exhibit limited epitaxy with the substrate, and that the contact produced is only a few atomic layers thick. The effect is higher for Ag shells than for Co cores, and it is not very energy dependent.展开更多

But the vibration is often a problem that restricts the application during heavy tamping. On the other hand, as an instant impact load with controllable energy, heavy tamping is a good test in situ for the study of soil dynamics. With the analysis in the field of frequency, deductive method for medium effecting function and excitation function of heavy tamping is put forward in this paper.展开更多

Statistical methods are applied to improve the insight into the energy performance and heat dynamics of a building based on consumption records and weather data. Dynamical methods separate influences from outdoor temperature, solar radiation, and wind on the energy consumption in the building. The studied building is a low-energy house in Sisimiut, GreenLand. Weather conditions like large temperature differences between indoors and outdoors throughout tong winters, strong winds, and very different circumstances regarding solar radiation compared to areas where Low-energy houses are usually built, make the Location very interesting for modeling and testing purposes. In 2011 new measurement equipment was installed in the house, which will be used to develop more detailed models of the heat dynamics and energy performance in relation to different meteoroLogicaL variables, heating systems, and user behavior. This type of models is known as a graybox model and is been introduced in this paper.展开更多
