The feed ore was assayed to contain 22.4% Mn and 35.9% SiO2, with a manganese-to-iron mass ratio (Mn:Fe ratio) of 1.6. This ore was characterized in detail using different techniques, including quantitative evaluation of minerals by scan- ning electron microscopy, which revealed that the ore is extremely siliceous in nature and that the associated gangue minerals are more or less evenly distributed in almost all of the size fractions in major proportion. Magnetic separation studies were conducted on both the as-received ore fines and the classified fines to enrich their manganese content and Mn:Fe ratio. The results indicated that the efficiency of separation for deslimed fines was better than that for the treated unclassified bulk sample. On the basis of these results, we proposed a proc- ess flow sheet for the beneficiation of low-grade manganese ore fines using a Floatex density separator as a pre-concentrator followed by two-stage magnetic separation. The overall recovery of manganese in the final product from the proposed flow sheet is 44.7% with an assay value of 45.8% and the Mn:Fe ratio of 3.1.展开更多

The main impact factors of reduction percent such as particle size, biomass/ore ratio, heating rate, nitrogen flow rate, temperature and time in reduction process were discussed. The morphology and component of manganese dioxide ore particle at different stages were also analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The results show the increase of the reduction temperature and time, biomass/ore ratio, and the decrease of particle size, heating rate and nitrogen flow rate can significantly enhance reduction efficiency. The reduction kinetic of the manganese ore is controlled by three-dimensional mass diffusion of gaseous reductive volatiles passing from the surface to the core of the ore particles. The activation energy E and frequency factor A were calculated to be 24.15 kJ.mol^-1 and 166 min^-1, respectively. Biomass pyrolysis volatiles adsorbed onto the surface of the ore particle leads to serious variation of the microstructures and chemical composition of the manganese ore particles.展开更多

Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate was used in this reaction as a reducing agent in sulfuric acid solutions. The effect of six process variables, including the mass ratio of ferrous sulfate heptahydrate to pyrolusite, mass ratio of sulfuric acid to pyrolusite, liquid-to-solid ratio, current density, leaching temperature, and leaching time, as well as their binary interactions, were modeled. The results revealed that the order of these factors with respect to their effects on the leaching efficiency were mass ratio of ferrous sulfate heptahydrate to pyrolusite 〉 leaching time 〉 mass ratio of sulfuric acid to pyrolusite 〉 liquid-to-solid ratio 〉 leaching temperature 〉 current density. The optimum conditions were as follows: 1.10:1 mass ratio of ferrous sulfate heptahydrate to pyrolusite, 0.9:1 mass ratio of sulfuric acid to pyrolusite, liquid-to-solid ratio of 0.7:1, current density of 947 A/m^2, leaching time of 180 min, and leaching temperature of 73°C. Under these conditions, the predicted leaching efficiency for Mn was 94.1%; the obtained experimental result was 95.7%, which confirmed the validity of the model.展开更多

The ore characteristics of siliceous manganese ore samples from three differ- ent mines, viz. the Shankar (Barbil OMC lease hold area), the Sone-Patuli (Patmunda, OMM lease hold area), and the Musaghar (Roida, OMDC lease hold area), were studied. These siliceous manganese ores are of three types, respectively: (i) spongy-granular; (ii) massive-mosaic; and (iii) hard-mylonitized. The spongy-gran- ular type contains granular, saccharoidal quartz and the major manganese mineral present is pyrolusite. The second type contains well crystallized quartz and cryptomelane, while the third has cherty, fine grained quartz (mylonite) along with romanechite. All three ores were subjected to physical beneficiation under similar conditions. Both gravity and magnetic separation techniques were employed. The mineral-fabric of the ores has been correlated to the extent of their beneficiation using these physical techniques. Of these three ores only the spongy-granular type responded well to upgrading. The feed with 22% Mn content could be upgraded to 44% with a 28% yield and a 49% recovery. The good response to beneficiation of the spongy- granular sample could be due to the large euhedral crystals of pyrolusite and the friable nature of the sac- charoidal quartz. This study reveals the influence of mineral-fabric on beneficiation of low grade ore, siliceous Mn ore in particular.展开更多

文摘The reduction process of manganese dioxide in low-grade manganese ore by biomass roasting was investigated. The calcine of manganese oxide ore was further leached by sulphuric acid, the manganese in ore can be converted into manganese sulfate.Effects of the mass ratio of manganese ore to sawdust, roasting temperature and time, leaching temperature and time, leaching agent concentration and liquid-solid ratio were studied.97.71% of manganese recovery can be achieved under the optimal conditions:the mass ratio of manganese ore to sawdust of 5:1, roasting temperature at 500℃ for 40 min, leaching temperature at 60℃ for 40 min, sulphuric acid concentration of 1 mol/L and liquid-solid ratio of 10:1.Other types of low-grade manganese ore like Guilin ore, Nanning ore and Gongcheng ore were tested and the same results were obtained.
文摘In the present investigation, magnetic separation studies using an induced roll magnetic separator were conducted to beneficiate low-grade ferruginous manganese ore. The overall recovery of manganese in the final product from the proposed flow sheet is 44.7% with an assay value of 45.8% and the Mn:Fe ratio of 3.1.

文摘Manganese (Mn) leaching and recovery from low-grade pyrolusite ore were studied using sulfiaric acid (H2SO4) as a leachant and pyrolysis-pretreated sawdust as a reductant. The effects of the dosage of pyrolysis-pretreated sawdust to pyrolusite ore, the concentration of sulfuric acid, the liquid/solid ratio, the leaching temperature, and the leaching time on manganese and iron leaching efficiencies were inves- tigated. Analysis of manganese and iron leaching efficiencies revealed that a high manganese leaching efficiency was achieved with low iron extraction. The optimal leaching efficiency was determined to be 20wt% pyrolysis-pretreated sawdust and 3.0 mol/L H2SO4 using a liq- uid/solid ratio of 6.0 mL/g for 90min at 90℃. Other low-grade pyrolusite ores were tested, and the results showed that they responded well with manganese leaching efficiencies greater than 98%.

文摘An investigation on reducing low-grade manganese dioxide ore pellets was carried out by using wheat stalk as reductant. Biomass pyrolysis volatiles adsorbed onto the surface of the ore particle leads to serious variation of the microstructures and chemical composition of the manganese ore particles.

文摘In the present study, a response surface methodology was used to optimize the electroleaching of Mn from low-grade pyrolusite. Under these conditions, the predicted leaching efficiency for Mn was 94.1%; the obtained experimental result was 95.7%, which confirmed the validity of the model.
文摘Low grade siliceous manganese ores from the iron ore group of the Bonai-Keonjhar belt, Orissa, India are found mostly in shear zones. This study reveals the influence of mineral-fabric on beneficiation of low grade ore, siliceous Mn ore in particular.

文摘The preparation of chemical manganese dioxide(CMD) from low-grade rhodochrosite ore(LGRO) in Xiushan,Chongqing, was studied and improved, including leaching with sulfuric acid, purifying, crystallizing and decomposing of MnCO3,and refining of primary MnO2.The product was characterized by X-ray diffraction. The results showed that the extraction ratio, the manganese recovery ratio of purifying, crystallization and refining reached 96.8%,93.9%,97.7%and 85.4%,respectively.The optimum conditions of refining were described as follows:liquid(H2SO4)/solid(primary MnO2) ratio was 3 L/g,the concentrations of NaClO exceeded 20%,and reaction time was 3 hours.Under the above conditions, the contents of MnO2and Mn in the obtained manganese dioxide were respectively 85.1%and 53.9%.The refined MnO2can be used as the super grade manganese dioxide mine powder in chemical industry. The XRD indicated that the structure of the product wasγ-MnO2.
文摘Two low-grade siliceous manganese ores such 1) siliceous crystalline and 2) siliceous cherty types from north Orissa, Indiawas mineralogically characterized and investigated for their possible upgradation. Both the Mn-ore types were subjected to different physical beneficiation techniques under identical conditions and results reported. The results revealed that in the case of low-grade siliceous crystalline type Mn-ore a feed having 26% Mn could be upgraded to more than 45% Mn by dry magnetic separation with 69% recovery at 1.00 tesla magnetic intensity. But the cherty type Mn-ore could not respond well to any of the beneficiation techniques, particularly dry magnetic separation, because of poor liberation even at a size fraction below 100 mesh, though the other type gives best result at this size fraction.

文摘Manganese-based material is a prospective cathode material for aqueous zinc ion batteries(ZIBs)by virtue of its high theoretical capacity, high operating voltage, and low price. However, the manganese dissolution during the electrochemical reaction causes its electrochemical cycling stability to be undesirable. In this work, heterointerface engineering-induced oxygen defects are introduced into heterostructure MnO_(2)(δa-MnO_(2))by in situ electrochemical activation to inhibit manganese dissolution for aqueous zinc ion batteries.Meanwhile, the heterointerface between the disordered amorphous and the crystalline MnO_(2)ofδa-MnO_(2)is decisive for the formation of oxygen defects. And the experimental results indicate that the manganese dissolution ofδa-MnO_(2)is considerably inhibited during the charge/discharge cycle.Theoretical analysis indicates that the oxygen defect regulates the electronic and band structure and the Mn-O bonding state of the electrode material, thereby promoting electron transport kinetics as well as inhibiting Mn dissolution.Consequently, the capacity ofδa-MnO_(2)does not degrade after 100 cycles at a current density of 0.5 Ag^(-1)and also 91%capacity retention after 500cycles at 1 Ag^(-1).This study provides a promising insight into the development of high-performance manganese-based cathode materials through a facile and low-cost strategy.

文摘Advanced processes for peroxymonosulfate(PMS)-based oxidation are efficient in eliminating toxic and refractory organic pol-lutants from sewage. The activation of electron-withdrawing HSO_(5)^(-)releases reactive species, including sulfate radical(·SO_(4)^(-)),hydroxyl radical(·OH),superoxide radical(·O_(2)^(-)),and singlet oxygen(1O_(2)),which can induce the degradation of organic contaminants. In this work,we synthesized a variety of M-OMS-2 nanorods(M=Co,Ni,Cu,Fe)by doping Co^(2+),Ni^(2+),Cu^(2+),or Fe^(3+)into manganese oxide oc-tahedral molecular sieve(OMS-2)to efficiently remove sulfamethoxazole(SMX)via PMS activation. The catalytic performance of M-OMS-2 in SMX elimination via PMS activation was assessed. The nanorods obtained in decreasing order of SMX removal rate were Cu-OMS-2(96.40%),Co-OMS-2(88.00%),Ni-OMS-2(87.20%),Fe-OMS-2(35.00%),and OMS-2(33.50%).Then,the kinetics and struc-ture-activity relationship of the M-OMS-2 nanorods during the elimination of SMX were investigated. The feasible mechanism underly-ing SMX degradation by the Cu-OMS-2/PMS system was further investigated with a quenching experiment,high-resolution mass spec-troscopy,and electron paramagnetic resonance. Results showed that SMX degradation efficiency was enhanced in seawater and tap water, demonstrating the potential application of Cu-OMS-2/PMS system in sewage treatment.

文摘Manganese cobaltite(MnCo_(2)_(4))is a promising electrode material because of its attractive redox chemistry and excellent charge storage capability. Our previous work demonstrated that the octahedrally-coordinated Mn are prone to react with the hydroxyl ions in alkaline electrolyte upon electrochemical cycling and separates on the surface of spinel to reconstruct into d-MnO_(2) nanosheets irreversibly, thus results in a change of the reaction mechanism with Kþion intercalation. However, the low capacity has greatly limited its practical application.Herein,we found that the tetrahedrally-coordinated Co_(2) þions were leached when MnCo_(2)_(4) was equilibrated in 1 mol L^(-1) HCl solution, leading to the formation of layered CoOOH on MnCo_(2)_(4) surface which is originated from the covalency competition induced selective breakage of the CoT–O bond in CoT–O–CoO and subsequent rearrangement of free Co_(6) octahedra. The as-formed CoOOH is stable upon cycling in alkaline electrolyte, exhibits conversion reaction mechanism with facile proton diffusion and is free of massive structural evolution, thus enables utilization of the bulk electrode material and realizes enhanced specific capacity as well as facilitated charge transfer and ion diffusion. In general, our work not only offers a feasible approach to deliberate modification of MnCo_(2)_(4)'s surface structure, but also provides an in-depth understanding of its charge storage mechanism, which enables rational design of the spinel oxides with promising charge storage properties.

文摘Excessive abdominal fat deposition seriously restricts the production efficiency of broilers.Several studies found that dietary supplemental manganese(Mn)could effectively reduce the abdominal fat deposition of broilers, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation with the inorganic or organic Mn on abdominal fat deposition, and enzyme activity and gene expression involved in lipid metabolism in the abdominal fat of male or female broilers.A total of 4201-d-old AA broilers(half males and half females)were randomly allotted by body weight and gender to 1 of 6 treatments with 10 replicates cages of 7 chicks per cage in a completely randomized design involving a 3(dietary Mn addition)×2(gender)factorial arrangement.Male or female broilers were fed with the Mn-unsupplemented basal diets containing 17.52 mg Mn kg^(-1)(d 1-21)and 15.62 mg Mn kg^(-1)(d 22-42)by analysis or the basal diets supplemented with 110 mg Mn kg^(-1)(d 1-21)and 80 mg Mn kg^(-1)(d 22-42)as either the Mn sulfate or the Mn proteinate with moderate chelation strength(Mn-Prot M)for 42 d.The results showed that the interaction between dietary Mn addition and gender had no impact(P>0.05)on any of the measured parameters;abdominal fat percentage of broilers was decreased(P<0.003)by Mn addition;Mn addition increased(P<0.004)adipose triglyceride lipase(ATGL)activity, while Mn-Prot M decreased(P<0.002)the fatty acid synthase(FAS)activity in the abdominal fat of broilers compared to the control;Mn addition decreased(P<0.009)diacylglycerol acyltransferase 2(DGAT2)mRNA expression level and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ(PPARγ)mRNA and protein expression levels, but up-regulated(P<0.05)the ATGL mRNA and protein expression levels in the abdominal fat of broilers. It was concluded that dietary supplementation with Mn inhibited the abdominal fat deposition of broilers possibly via decreasing the expression of PPARγand DGAT2 as well as increasing the expression and activity of ATGL in the abdominal fat of broilers, and Mn-Prot M was more effective in inhibiting the FAS acitivity.
