Dental Treatment with a Gold Alloy Cast Crown for Severe Lumbago

The patient was a 41-year-old woman experiencing severe lumbago for several years. The physician-in-charge referred her for dental treatment because examination did not reveal any specific abnormality in her lower back. Prior to the treatment, the patient could barely bend forward and backward because of serious back pain. Her body flexibility and lower back pain improved when a gold alloy cast crown was placed near her feet. However, when the crown was covered with aluminum foil, it was again very difficult for her to bend her body forward and backward. These results suggested that her body reacted positively because good electromagnetic waves emitted by the crown were absorbed by the body. The alloy used to make the crown was chosen using the Bi-Digital O-Ring Test. Moreover, the shape, contact strength, and occlusion (biting condition) of the crown were also determined by the Bi-Digital O-Ring Test. After the crown was placed on her upper right first molar, her lumbago completely disappeared and did not recur for >5 years of follow-up. The effectiveness of electromagnetic waves on the condition of the body, as in this case, has not often been acknowledged in modern medicine, and the underlying mechanism remains unclear;therefore, further research is required.

Dental Stimulation to the Buccal Mucous Membrane Causes Lumbago: A Report of Two Cases

This study aims to demonstrate that harmful stimulation of the buccal mucosa because of a rough tooth surface may cause lumbago. This report illustrates two cases of women in their 30s and 40s who are suffering from lumbago due to unknown causes. The patients are cured by a simple dental procedure in which the buccal surface of a molar is smoothened, thereby inhibiting the negative stimulation of the buccal mucosa. Soon after this treatment, the symptoms of lumbago have subsided. The reason for the effectiveness of this treatment remains unclear. However, the balance dysregulation observed in the patient may have been due to stimulation of the oral mucous membrane by the rough surface of the tooth. It is important for dentists to pay attention to the effects of tooth formation, dental restorations, and dental prosthetics on the entire body. A dental condition may have an effect on diseases affecting other parts of the body;thus a dental treatment may be considered as an option for the management of other systemic disorders. It appears that cooperation between the fields of dentistry and medicine is of utmost importance.

AQUA-INJECTION AT CILIAO (BL 31) FOR TREATMENT OF 214 PATIENTS WITH PAIN OF LOINS AND LEG

The aqua-injection at Ci1iao (BL 31) point was used to treat 2l4 patients with painof loins and legs, and among them 64 (29.9％ ) cases were cured, 136 (63. 6 ％) were markedly im-proved and 12 (0. 6％) cases were improved with a total effective rate of 99. 1％。

MY UNDERSTANDINGS ABOUT ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT OF LUMBAGO ACCORDING TO SYNDROME-DIFFERENTIATION

In the present paper, the author introduces his individual experience and understandings about acupuncture treatment of lumbago from ① pathogenic causes and pathogenesis, ② syndrome differentiation and analysis, ③ therapeutic methods, ④ treatment according to differentiation of syndromes, and ⑤ key points about treatment of lumbago. The author stresses that in the treatment of lumbago, never forget reinforcing the kidney and treat both the primary and secondary aspects of the disease at the same time.

COMMENTS ON CLINICAL APPLICATION OF LOCAL MULTI-NEEDLE PUNCTURING

In the present paper, combining a few of typical cases, the author introduces his clinical experiences about the application of multiple acupuncture needles inserted into a certain local region for treatment of facial spasm, lumbago, hyperplasis of the mammary glands and herpes zoster and gives some brief comments.

Contribution of Musculoskeletal Disorders to Chronic Lumbago in Parkinson’s Disease

Purpose: To clarify the impact of bone metabolism disorder on lumbago in Parkinson’s Disease (PD). Methods: Data was retrospectively analyzed from 52 patients with PD in our outpatient clinic for more than 1 year (mean age, 63 ± 4 years old;mean duration from onset, 6.3 ± 0.8 years). Patients’ characteristics, comorbid musculoskeletal disorders, serum bone metabolism biomarkers, and bone mineral density were examined. Results: Twenty-one PD patients (40.2%) had chronic lumbago. Severe comptocormia and scoliosis were the most common musculosketal disorders in this group (47.6%) affected by lumbago, followed by osteoporosis (14.3%), compression fracture (4.8%). There was no significant difference in the duration of PD, body mass index, frequency of falls, bone mineral density, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase-5b, osteocalcin, and N-terminal telopeptide between PD patients with or without chronic lumbago. Multivaritae logistic regression analysis identified the independent predictors of chroni lumbago in PD patients as Hoen-Yahr stage (odds ration [OR] = 2.794, 95%CI 1.103 - 7.076), and elevated serum 1,25-OH2 vitamin D level ([OR] = 0.92, 95%CI 0.86 - 98). Conclusion: Bone metabolism disorders are found to be associated with chronic lumbago in PD patients.

Observation on the Treatment of Belt Vessel Lumbago by Daoyin method with Acupuncture

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Daoyin method with acupuncture on belt vessel type lumbago,and to evaluate the effectiveness of the method.Methods:A total of 54 patients with belt vessel type lumbago who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups,with 27 patients in both groups.Patients in the treatment group were treated by Daoyin with acupuncture on the belt vessel,patients in the control group only received acupuncture on the belt vessel.The visual analogue scale,JOA score,ODI score,and SBI score before and after treatment were observed.Results:There were significant differences in the score changes in both groups before and after treatment,and the difference between the treatment group and the control group was significant.The therapeutic effect in the treatment group is better than the control group.Daoyin with acupuncture has a better effect on belt vessel type lumbago.

Acupuncture Treatment of 32 Cases of Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Protusion

Yaoyangguan ( GV 3 ), Shiqizhui ( Ex-B 8) and Yanglingquan (GB 34) were selected as main points and a three-part needle insertion technique was used to treat 32 cases of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion. The curative rate was 96.9%. Deep puncture is the key to the treatment.
