Spectrometric analysis was used to characterize the various stabilizers and the clay used, and tests of resistance and water absorption were also carried out. The clay was found to be an aluminosilicate (15.55% to 17.17% Al2O3 and 42.12% to 44.15% SiO2). The lime contains 90.84% CaO and the cement has 17.80% SiO2, 3.46% Al2O3, 2.43% Fe2O3 and 58.47% CaO in the combined form of tricalcium silicate, dicalcium silicate, tricalcium aluminate and ferro-tetra calcium aluminate. The results showed that the insertion of locally available stabilizers (lime and cement) improved the strength of the material by almost 80% when the lime was increased from 0% to 14% for 14 days. For compressed cement, a 65% increase in strength was observed under the same conditions. Strength increases with drying time, with a 52% increase in strength at 28 days compared to 14 days. Furthermore, compressed cement bricks have a more compact structure, absorbing very little water (32%). In view of all these results, cement appears to be the best stabilizer, and compression improves compressive strength and reduces water absorption.展开更多

The results showed that the fluodde contents in the 25 varieties were in the range of 181.92-345.06 mg/kg, end the fluoride content in 'Zhongcha 302' was the lowest. Based on traditional production process of brick tea, 3 new low-fluoride brick tea production processes with 'Zhongcha 302' as the raw material at the stage of one bud and five leaves were constructed. The fluoride content, physicochemical in- dex, sensory end main chemical contents in the brick tea samples were determined. The best processing process of Iow-fluodde brick tea was process 3, which included aldng, fixing, rolling, second fixing, second roiling, sun-drying, pile-fermentation, steaming, pile-fermentation, drying and shaping into brick by vapor treating. The re- sults showed that the fluoride content and physicochemical index of the brick tea sample of the third low-fluoride brick tea production process accorded with National Standard GB/T 9833.4-2013. The sensory evaluation of the brick tea sample was better than that of brick tea manufacture by the traditional process. The water extract, tea polyphenols, amino acids, caffeine and water-soluble sugar in the brick tea sample increased by 9.41%, 36.39%, 26.94%, 27.23% and 15.29%, respectively. They do not exhibit thermo-plasticity, which can facilitate the release of huge amount of stresses generated during preheating or in operation. On the contrary, pitch bonded MgO-C bricks, show better pyro-plasticity due to formation of an anisotropic and graphitized coke structure during carbonization of pitch. Hence, pitch bonded bricks show a superior structural spalling resistance in comparison to resin-bonded bricks. One of the drawbacks of pitch-bonded bricks is that the manufacturing requires a hot mixing process and hot pressing facility. This paper describes how a combination of above two processes was optimized to make a MgO-C brick via cold process. These bricks exhibit a low Modulus of Elasticity and thereby facilitate release of stresses during operation. Normal coal tar pitch is considered as an environmental hazard due to the presence of polyaromatic hydrocarbons like benzopyrene B [ a ] P. So, a special binder with a low B[ a ] P was selected, which is eco-friendly in nature. Such bricks were made in our plant in China and supplied to an integrated steel plant in Europe for their ladle. The bricks supplied have given encouraging life.展开更多

Common building materials burnt red soil bricks and fly ash bricks were reinforced with various amounts of graphene, and the effect of graphene on the strength of these newly developed nanocomposites was studied. The fly ash brick nanocomposite samples were cured as per their standard curing time, and the burnt red soil brick nanocomposite samples were merely dried in the sun instead of being subjected to the traditional heat treatment for days to achieve sufficient strength. The compressive strength of all of the graphene-reinforced nanocomposite samples was tested, along with that of some standard (without graphene) composite samples with the same dimensions, to evaluate the effects of the addition of various amounts of graphene on the compressive strength of the bricks.展开更多

[Method] Ten tea leaves before and after fermentation were chosen. The tea leaves sections were made using paraffin microtomy, PAS staining, and observed under light mi- croscopy. Through image analysis for the tea leaves, we compared the changes on the areas of the cellulose and colloid in cell before and after pile-fermentation. At the same time, the tea leaves were observed under transmission electron micro- scope. [Result] The results showed that the pile-fermentation process caused the tea leaves tissue to become loose, and expanded the cell space. Besides, the cell wall of tea leaves was obviously thinning, and even breaking which composed of cellulose. Image analysis showed that the leaf fiber composition reduced significant- ly, with a corresponding increase of yellow colloid in cell. Under observation of transmission electron microscope, there were large amounts of fungi located in the space between the colloid and the cell wall of the tea leaves after pile-fermentation. [Conclusion] The fermentation of Green brick tea is the process of microbial bio- transformation of tea, which is dominated by microbe and consumed the cellulose components of tea leaves.展开更多
