As a result, the product of Mrand thickness(i.e., the remanent moment-thickness product, Mrt), a key parameter in magnetic recording for reliable data storing and reading, also decreases dramatically. To overcome this issue, we deposit an ultra-thick granular [Co/Pt]80multilayer with a total thickness of 68 nm on granular SiNxbuffer layer. The Mrt value, Mrto saturation magnetization(Ms) ratio as well as out of plane(OOP) coercivity(Hcoop) are high up to 2.97 memu/cm^(2), 67%, and 1940 Oe(1 Oe = 79.5775 A·m^(-1)),respectively, which is remarkably improved compared with that of continuous [Co/Pt]80multilayers. That is because large amounts of grain boundaries in the granular multilayers can efficiently impede the propagation and expansion of reversed magnetic domains, which is verified by experimental investigations and micromagnetic simulation results. The simulation results also indicate that the value of Mrt, Mr/Msratio, and Hcoopcan be further improved through optimizing the granule size, which can be experimentally realized by manipulating the process parameter of SiNxbuffer layer. This work provides an alternative solution for achieving high Mrt value in ultra-thick Co/Pt multilayers, which is of unneglectable potential in applications of high-density magnetic recording.展开更多

Vibrating sample magnetometer, X-ray diffraction and scanning probe microscope were applied to study the magnetic properties, microstructures, morphologies and domain structures of the samples. (FePt)27Ti73 bilayer films were fabricated at various conditions to investigate the effect of Ti on FePt grains. The results show that without Ti matrix layer, FePt films deposited onto the glass substrates are fcc disordered; with addition of Ti matrix layer, FePt/Ti films form a ternary (FePt)27Ti73 alloy possessing fcc and L10 (111) mixed texture. FePt/(FePt)27Ti73 films with perfectly ordered L10(111) structure and unique magnetic properties can be obtained at Ti thickness of 35nm and substrate temperature of 250℃. The maximum coercivity is more than 240kA/m and the squareness ratio is more than 0.9. The obtained results suggest that the granular FePt/(FePt)27Ti73 films can be applicable to ultrahigh-density magnetic recording media.展开更多

The results show that ECC media can reduce the coercivities of perpendicular magnetic recording media FePt-MgO. Measurement of magnetic properties showed that the SmCo film possessed good magnetic anisotropy, a high coercivity of 3019 kA/m and low magnetic exchange coupling. Microstructure analysis showed that crystallized SmCo5 magnetic phase, non-magnetic SmCo2 phase and Sm2Co7 phase co-existed in the film. The non-magnetic SmCo2 phase might function as isolator of SmCo grains, leading to a decrease of magnetic exchange coupling. Moreover, a Cr2O3 oxide layer which could protect the SmCo layer from oxidation formed at the surface of the Cr cap layer.展开更多

The inner ear was imaged using a 3.0 Tesla MR system post-intravenous injection of gadolinium-tetraazacyclododecane-tetraacetic acid(Gd-DOTA) in a standard single dosage(0.1 mmol/kg). Both t2-spc-rst-tra-iso(T2-weighted) and heavily T2-weighted 3-dimensional fluid-attenuated inversion recovery magnetic resonance imaging [h T(2)W-3D-FLAIR] sequences were applied. As a result, in the T2-weighted images, the perilymph and endolymph, cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the eighth nerve(N8), and middle ear granulation tissue showed intense signals. In the h T(2)W-3D-FLAIR images, evident enhancement by Gd-DOTA was observed in the middle ear cavity and the perilymphatic compartments of the cochlea. Cochlear endolymphatic hydrops was implicated by the enlarged scala media in the basalturn. In general, the Gd-DOTA uptake in the vestibule was weak, and signs of vestibular endolymphatic hydrops were obvious. The N8 on the diseased side was also significantly enhanced. To conclude, endolymphatic hydrops in MD may be induced by otitis media. Cochlear endolymphatic hydrops in MD secondary to otitis media may not follow the classical pattern.展开更多

FePt L1o grains with (001) texture and thus a large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant Ku of the order of 106 J/m3 were formed. A thick Ag layer is found to be favorable for decreasing the dispersion of the easy axis for magnetization. The measurement of time decay of magnetization gave rise to a small activation volume of the order of 10-25m3, showing the promising of being the recording medium for future high density perpendicular recording.展开更多

The system is composed of a middle fluid embedded between two semi-infinite fluids, in which the effect of the normal magnetic field is to introduce. The principle aim of this work is to investigate the influence of fluid viscosity and the porosity effect on the growth rate in the presence of normal magnetic field. The parameters governing the layers flow system, the magnetic properties and porosity effects strongly influence the wave forms and their amplitudes and hence the stability of the fluid. The stability criteria are discussed theoretically and numerically and stability diagrams are obtained, where regions of stability and instability are identified. It is found that the stabilizing role for the magnetic field is retarded when the flow is in porous media. Moreover, the increase in the values of permeability parameters plays a dual role, in stability behavior. It has been found that the phenomenon of the dual (to be either stabilizing or destabilizing) role is found for increasing the permeability parameter. It is established that both the viscosity coefficient and the magnetic permeability damps the growth rate, introducing stabilizing influence. The role of the magnetic field and Reynolds number is to increase the amplitude of the disturbance leading to the destabilization state of the flow system, promote the oscillatory behavior. Influence of the various parameters of the problem on the interface stability is thoroughly discussed.展开更多

We apply an analogous method to that used by Panofsky and Phillips to calculate the symmetric effect, the equivalent magnetization that appears in a polarized dielectric in motion, Meq=P×v,?This method is based on a particular expression of Maxwell’s equations and the application of the convective derivative. These authors argue, however, that the equivalent polarization can be obtained only with a relativistic approach. We show that with the same method, but with a different and equivalent expression of Maxwell’s equations, this effect can also be calculated. In this way both effects can be considered relativistic effects to first order in v/c.展开更多
