To differentiate between natural and anthropogenic particulate sources in the atmosphere in Lanzhou City, samples were collected in different sites. The dust flux was calculated and magnetic measurements were conducted. Results show a distinct pattern of variation of dust flux within a year and it agrees with the shifts of atmospheric circulation regime. The magnetic parameters indicate that natural sources are the major components of atmospheric particulate during late spring and early summer, while anthropogenic sources contribute much more during winter months. The data also support the earlier findings that magnetic parameters are effective for differentiating between particulate arising from natural sources such as soil erosion and from anthropogenic sources such as coal combustion. 展开更多

In this kind of problem we always need to locate the positions and moments of one or more magnetic dipoles. Although using the traditional methods to solve this kind of inverse problem has all kinds of shortcomings, BPNN (Back Propagation Neural Networks) method can be used to solve this typical inverse problem fast enough for real time measurement. In the traditional BPNN method, gradient descent search method is performed for error propagation. In this paper the authors propose a new algorithm that Newton method is performed for error propagation. For the cost function is highly nonconvex in the magnetic measurement problem, the new kind of BPNN can get convergent results quickly and precisely. One of the crucial techniques is to solve an inverse problem for the electromagnetic field. This study is devoted to investigating different algorithms for this kind of inverse problem preliminarily, including the preconditioned conjugate gradient method, penalty function method and genetic algorithm. The feasibility of each algorithm is analyzed. It is shown that the preconditioned conjugate gradient method is valid only for few arc segments, the estimation accuracy of the penalty function method is dependent on the initial conditions, and the convergence of genetic algorithm should be studied further for more segments in an arc current. 展开更多

A portable microcomputer-controlled inspection system has been developed for detection of magnetic properties of soft magnetic materials. It incorporates custom designed software for control of the magnetic field during operation such as demagnetization, field sweeping, and for data logging and analysis. Results are recorded using a 12-bit analog to digital converter and are then stored on disk. The magnetic hysteresis loop and Barkhausen noise data can be converted into important magnetic parameters: coecivity, remanence, and hysteresis loss, Barkhausen amplitude, and Barkhausen noise energy. This system incorporated with the magnetostriction, and magnetoacoustic emission, is then related with the nondestructive detection of material degradation. 展开更多

In order to know the distribution of magnetic field in a novel flow control of mold (NFC Mold) and to provide the experimental data for the electromagnetic structure design and the analysis of flow control in continuo... In order to know the distribution of magnetic field in a novel flow control of mold (NFC Mold) and to provide the experimental data for the electromagnetic structure design and the analysis of flow control in continuous casting mold, the magnetic field in a NFC Mold were measured by Tesla meter of Model CT-3. The method of vector synthesis was adopted in the measurement of magnetic fields. The results showed that the magnetic field in the NFC Mold was composed of two main magnetic areas that were symmetrical. Although there was leaking magnetic flux between the lower surface of the upper pole and the upper surface of the lower pole on the sides, it was restrained by the main magnetic fields effectively. Therefore the NFC Mold was more preferably satisfied to be used in controlling the molten steel flow in continuous casting mold. 展开更多

The maximum entangled number state (NOON state) can improve the sensitivity of physical quantity measure- ment to the Heisenberg limit 1/N. In this work, the magnetic field measurement based on the individual solid spin NOON state is investigated. Based on the tunable effective coupling coefficient, we propose a generation scheme of the three-spin NOON state, i.e, the Creenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (CHZ) state, and discussed the mea- surement resolution reduction due to decoherence. It is unnecessary to entangle spins as many as possible when decoherence exists. In practice, defect spins in diamond and alp donors with long coherence time can be applied with current techniques in the nano-scaled high resolution magnetic measurement. 展开更多

The self-intercalation of Cr into pristine two-dimensional(2D) van der Waals ferromagnetic CrTe_(2),which forms chromium tellurides(Cr_(x)Te_(2)),has garnered interest due to their remarkable magnetic characteristics and the wide variety of chemical compositions available.Here,comprehensive basic characterization and magnetic studies are conducted on quasi-2D ferromagnetic Cr_(1.04)Te_(2) crystals.Measurements of the isothermal magnetization curves are conducted around the critical temperature to systematically investigate the critical behavior.Specifically,the critical exponents β=0.2399,γ=0.859,and δ=4.3498,as well as the Curie temperature T_(C)=249.56 K,are determined using various methods,including the modified Arrott plots,the Kouvel-Fisher method,the Widom scaling method,and the critical isotherm analysis.These results indicate that the tricritical mean-field model accurately represents the critical behavior of Cr_(1.04)Te_(2.A magnetic phase diagram with tricritical phenomenon is thus constructed.Further investigations confirm that the critical exponents obtained conform to the scalar equation near T_(C),indicating their self-consistency and reliability.Our work sheds light on the magnetic properties of quasi-2D Cr_(1.04)Te_(2),broadening the scope of the van der Waals crystals for developments of future spintronic devices operable at room temperature. 展开更多

Anisotropic powder was prepared with precursor (NdDy)-(FeCoNbCu)-B sintered magnets by hydrogen decrepitation, desorption, and subsequent annealing treatment. The hydrogen desorption was performed in magnetic fields of 0, 1, 3, and 5 T. The orientation of tetragonal phase grains of the powder was evaluated from the hysteresis loops measured by extraction magnetometer. Residual hydrogen content of the powder was evaluated by thermal-magnetic analysis. The powder with Hcj, Br, and (BH)max of 1138 kA.m^-1, 1.029 T, and 172.5 kJ.m^-3, respectively, was achieved under the condition of the magnetic field of 3 T. Magnetic properties of the powder, especially, the remanence of the powder, are enhanced upon magnetic fields, which is due to better orientation of powder particles and less residual hydrogen in the powder resulted from the magnetic field during the hydrogen desorption process. 展开更多

Most triaxial-vectorial magnetic field measurements with spin-exchange relaxation free(SERF)atomic magnetometer(AM)are based on the quasi-steady-state solution of the Bloch equation.However,the responding speed of these methods is greatly limited because the frequency of the modulation signal should be slow enough to ensure the validity of the quasi-steady-state solution.In this work,a new model to describe the response of the three-axis sensitive SERF AM with high modulation frequency is presented and verified.The response of alkali-atomic spin to high-frequency modulation field is further investigated by solving the Bloch equation in a modulation-frequency-dependence manner.This solution is well verified by our experiments and can offer a reference for selection of modulation frequencies.The result shows a potential to achieve a SERF AM operating in a geomagnetic field without heavy aluminum shielding when the modulation frequencies are selected properly. 展开更多

An iron film percolation system is fabricated by vapour-phase deposition on fracture surfaces of α-Al2O3 ceramics. The zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) magnetization measurement reveals that the magnetic phase of the film samples evolve from a high-temperature ferromagnetic state to a low-temperature spin-glass-like state, which is also demonstrated by the temperature-dependent ac susceptibility of the iron films. The temperature dependence of the exchange bias field He of the iron film exhibits a minimum peak around the temperature T=5 K, which is independent of the magnitude of the cooling field Hcf. However, for T 〉 10K, (1) He is always negative when Hcf=2kOe and (2) for Hcf= 20 kOe (1Oe≈80 A/m), He changes from negative to positive values as T increases. Our experimental results show that the anomalous hysteresis properties mainly result from the oxide surfaces of the films with spin-glass-like phase. 展开更多

The HT-6M tokamak at the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology has been restarted.In order to ensure the smooth breakdown of plasma and obtain plasma discharge parameters,optimization of the poloidal field coils and upgrade of the magnetic diagnostics are described in this article.A perfect null field(stray field in the main chamber<10 G)is obtained using an ohmic heating field.To obtain important information about the plasma,an external magnetic diagnostics system is designed and calibrated,including a Rogowski coil(measuring plasma current),a magnetic probe(measuring external field),diamagnetic loops(measuringβ_(p))and so on.In order to realize high-frequency signal measurement and transmission,a series of frequency responses with the magnetic probe and transmission line are tested.Later,to verify the null field,a fitting code is developed to reconstruct the stray field in the vacuum chamber based on magnetic probe measurements and flux loops.The results show that the error is within 1.5%.This indicates the accuracy of the magnetic measurement system and ensures the preparation for the breakdown of plasma. 展开更多

The structural transformation in Fe-Cu powder induced by mechanically driven alloying has been monitored by the lattice constant measurements and Mossbauer spectroscopy. For the samples with Cu higher than 75at.% Mossbauer the spectra show a broad paramagnetic doublet; for samples with 50 and 60at.%Cu a new broad ferromagnetic sextet; for those with less than 30at.%Cu similar to those of α-Fe. The main peaks of the hyperfine field distribution significantly broaden and shift to a lower position with increasing Cu content due to the complex environments of iron atoms in the solid solutions and the reduction in the nearest neighbor Fe of a cental Fe atom, respectively. The saturation magnetization of Fe-Cu alloys monotonously decreases with Cu content. The complex composition dependence of coercive field for the milled samples is discussed with respect to the solid dissolution, grain size, interfacial state etc.. The increase of lattice constants with the solute content in the two terminal solid solutions has been explained by the volume-size factor theory or magnetovolume effect. 展开更多

Bimetallic one-dimensional (1-D) cobalt-palladium magnetic nanowires encapsuled by carbon nanotubes were synthesized on silicon substrate using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique. After the deposition of the catalyst, the growth of nanotubes takes place in two stages. The first is a thermal pretreatment to transform continuous nanometer bimetallic thick film into isolated and uniformly distributed nanoparticles over the entire surface of the substrate. The second step results in the growth of nanotubes perpendicular to the substrate by the addition of carbon atoms on the insulated metal nanoparticles. While growing the nanotubes at given thermochemical conditions, a Co-Pd eutectic is thought to diffuse inside the cavity of the nanotube along a length of few hundreds of nanometers as determined by high resolution, spatially resolved Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS), and energy filtered elemental mapping. The magnetic anisotropy along the nanotube directions is observed. Ferromagnetic or superparamagnetic-like behavior of the filled nanotubes was measured through local magneto-optical Kerr effect or global superconducting quantum interference device measurements, respectively. Information on the magnetism of filled nanotubes at different scales is pointed out and discussed. 展开更多

One complex [Co1.5(C6H5CHCHCOO)3(Medpq)]·H2O(C6H5CHCHCOO = cinnamic acid, Medpq = 2-methyldipyrido[3,2-f:2,3-h]quinoxaline) 1 has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, TG, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Complex 1 crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P1, with a = 10.224(5), b = 14.572(5), c = 15.139(5)A, α = 112.704(5), β = 97.168(5), γ = 109.749(5), V = 1871.8(13) 3 and Z = 2(at 293(2) K). In the crystal structure, the Co(1) ion is hexa-coordinated with six atoms from three different cinnamic acid ligands and the symmetric three different cinnamic acid ligands; the Co(2) center adopts a coordination environment with two nitrogen atoms from Medpq ligand and four oxygen atoms from two different cinnamic ligands, assuming a slightly distorted octahedral geometry, respectively. A 16-pole superconducting multipole wiggler with a large gap of 68 mm was designed and fabricated to serve as a multipole wiggler for HEPS-TF.The wiggler consists of 16 pairs of NbTi superconducting coils with a period length of 170 mm,and its maximum peak field is 2.6 Tesla.In magnet design,magnet poles were optimized.Furthermore,the Lorentz force on the coils and electromagnetic force between the upper and lower halves were computed and analyzed along with the stored energy and inductance at different currents.To enhance the critical current of the magnet coil,all the pole coils selected for the magnet exhibited excellent performance,and appropriate prestress derived from the coil force analysis was applied to the pole coils during magnet assembly.The entire magnet structure was immersed in 4.2-K liquid helium in the cryostat cooled solely by four two-stage cryocoolers,and the performance test of the superconducting wiggler was appropriately completed.Based on the measured results,the first and second field integrals on the axis of the superconducting wiggler were significantly improved at different field levels after the compensation of the corrector coils.Subsequently,the wiggler was successfully installed in the storage ring of BEPCII operation with beams. 展开更多

Different from the conventional supercon- ducting ECR magnetic structure, the SEC17AL Ⅱ includes three superconducting solenoid coils' that are located inside the superconducting sextupoles. The SECRAL Ⅱ can significantly reduce the interaction forces between the sextupole and the solenoids, and the magnets can also be more compact in size. For this multi-component SECRAL Ⅱ generating its self field of -8 T and being often exposed to the high self field, the mechanical analysis has become the main issue to keep their stress at 〈200 MPa on coils. The analytical and experimental results in mechanics are presented in the SECRAL Ⅱ structure. To improve the accuracy and efficiency of analysis, according to the composite rule of micromechanics, the equivalent uniform windings are used to simulate the epoxy-impregnated Nb-Ti/Cu coils. In addition, using low temperature strain gauges and a wireless fast strain acquisition system, a fundamental experiment on the based on our analysis, the stresses and deformations optimized. strains developments of a sextupole is reported. The formation of magnetic islands within plasmas confined magnetically within the tori has significant influence upon their confinement and stability. To obtain an experimental insight into the formation and dynamics of such island structures we employed a fast framing camera viewing the plasma tangentially in the toroidal direction. The toroidal viewing direction gives the advantage in that the islands are viewed almost tangentially and this greatly facilitates the reconstruction of the local data from the line integrated ones. We discuss an effective method to do inversion. To study the fluctuations seen in the video images we perform a singular value decomposition, and then we use a truncated least square method to infer their pictures in space. 展开更多
