Hierarchical magnetic-dielectric composites are promising functional materials with prospective applications in microwave absorption(MA)field.Herein,a three-dimension hierarchical“nanotubes on microrods,”core–shell magnetic metal–carbon composite is rationally constructed for the first time via a fast metal–organic frameworksbased ligand exchange strategy followed by a carbonization treatment with melamine.Abundant magnetic CoFe nanoparticles are embedded within one-dimensional graphitized carbon/carbon nanotubes supported on micro-scale Mo2N rod(Mo2N@CoFe@C/CNT),constructing a special multi-dimension hierarchical MA material.Ligand exchange reaction is found to determine the formation of hierarchical magnetic-dielectric composite, which is assembled by dielectric Mo2N as core and spatially dispersed CoFe nanoparticles within C/CNTs as shell.Mo2N@CoFe@C/CNT composites exhibit superior MA performance with maximum reflection loss of−53.5 dB at 2 mm thickness and show a broad effective absorption bandwidth of 5.0 GHz.The Mo2N@CoFe@C/CNT composites hold the following advantages:(1)hierarchical core–shell structure offers plentiful of heterojunction interfaces and triggers interfacial polarization,(2)unique electronic migration/hop paths in the graphitized C/CNTs and Mo2N rod facilitate conductive loss,(3)highly dispersed magnetic CoFe nanoparticles within“tubes on rods”matrix build multi-scale magnetic coupling network and reinforce magnetic response capability, confirmed by the off-axis electron holography. 展开更多

In this paper,a new equivalent magnetic network(EMN)model is established for a spoke-type permanent magnet(PM)vernier(PMV)machine. Two different modeling methods are proposed for different parts of the PMV machine, considering that their magnetic field distributions are quite different.Hierarchical modeling method is proposed for the modeling of the rotor as the magnetic intensity of the rotor iron core presents gradient distribution along the radial direction.Mesh based reluctance network method is used for the modeling of flux modulation poles with irregular and unstable magnetic field distributions. Moreover, accurate PM leakage permeance calculation formulae are deduced to improve the simulation precision. The electromagnetic parameters, such as flux linkage, back electromagnetic force, electromagnetic torque and iron loss are predicted by the proposed EMN model. Finally, finite element analysis(FEA)and experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods. 展开更多

In this paper,a 20kW vehicle built-in permanent magnet synchronous motor is taken as an example, and a magnetic barrier structure is added to the rotor of the motor to solve the uneven saturation problem of the rotor side magnetic bridge. This structure improves the air-gap flux density waveform of the motor by influencing the internal magnetic flux path of the motor rotor, thus improving the sine of the no-load back EMF waveform of the motor and reducing the torque ripple of the motor. At the same time,Taguchi method is used to optimize the structural parameters of the added magnetic barrier. In order to facilitate the analysis of its uneven saturation phenomenon and improve the optimization effect,a simple equivalent magnetic network(EMN)model considering the uneven saturation of rotor magnetic bridge is established in this paper, and the initial values of optimization factors are selected based on this model. Finally, the no-load back EMF waveform distortion rate, torque ripple and output torque of the optimized motor are compared and analyzed, and the influence of magnetic barrier structure parameters on the electromagnetic performance of the motor is also analyzed. The results show that the optimized motor can not change the output torque of the motor as much as possible on the basis of reducing the waveform distortion rate of no-load back EMF and torque ripple. 展开更多

In order to overcome the system non-linearity and uncertainty inherent in magnetic bearing systems, a GA(genetic algnrithm)-based PID neural network controller is designed and trained tO emulate the operation of a complete system (magnetic bearing, controller, and power amplifiers). The feasibility of using a neural network to control nonlinear magnetic bearing systems with unknown dynamics is demonstrated. The key concept of the control scheme is to use GA to evaluate the candidate solutions (chromosomes), increase the generalization ability of PID neural network and avoid suffering from the local minima problem in network learning due to the use of gradient descent learning method. The simulation results show that the proposed architecture provides well robust performance and better reinforcement learning capability in controlling magnetic bearing systems. 展开更多

Functional magnetic resonance imaging has been widely used to investigate the effects of acupuncture on neural activity. However, most functional magnetic resonance imaging studies have focused on acute changes in brain activation induced by acupuncture. Thus, the time course of the therapeutic effects of acupuncture remains unclear. In this study, 32 patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment were randomly divided into two groups, where they received either Tiaoshen Yizhi acupuncture or sham acupoint acupuncture. The needles were either twirled at Tiaoshen Yizhi acupoints, including Sishencong(EX-HN1), Yintang(EX-HN3), Neiguan(PC6), Taixi(KI3), Fenglong(ST40), and Taichong(LR3), or at related sham acupoints at a depth of approximately 15 mm, an angle of ± 60°, and a rate of approximately 120 times per minute. Acupuncture was conducted for 4 consecutive weeks, five times per week, on weekdays. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging indicated that connections between cognition-related regions such as the insula, dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, thalamus, inferior parietal lobule, and anterior cingulate cortex increased after acupuncture at Tiaoshen Yizhi acupoints. The insula, dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, and hippocampus acted as central brain hubs. Patients in the Tiaoshen Yizhi group exhibited improved cognitive performance after acupuncture. In the sham acupoint acupuncture group, connections between brain regions were dispersed, and we found no differences in cognitive function following the treatment. These results indicate that acupuncture at Tiaoshen Yizhi acupoints can regulate brain networks by increasing connectivity between cognition-related regions, thereby improving cognitive function in patients with mild cognitive impairment. 展开更多

The reaction of Co^II ions with 1,4-bis(imidazol)butane(bimb) or 1,4-bis(triazol)butane(bitb) in the presence of ClO4^-, respectively affords two CoII coordination complexes, namely {[Co(bimb)3]·2ClO4}n(I) and {[Co(bitb)3]·2ClO4}n(II). Single-crystal X-ray analysis indicates that both complexes I and II show the same α-Po topological structures. However, complex I exhibits a 2-fold interpenetrating network, while complex II features a 3-fold interpenetrating network. In addition, solid-state properties such as thermal stabilities and magnetic properties of two complexes were also investigated. 展开更多

Ti_(3)C_(2)Tx MXene is widely regarded as a potential micro-wave absorber due to its dielectric multi-layered structure. However, missing magnetic loss capability of pure MXene leads to the unmatched electromagnetic parameters and unsatisfied impedance matching condi-tion.Herein,with the inspiration from dielectric-magnetic synergy, this obstruction is solved by fabricating magnetic CNTs/Ni hetero-structure decorated MXene substrate via a facile in situ induced growth method.Ni2+ions are successfully attached on the surface and interlamination of each MXene unit by intensive electrostatic adsorption.Benefiting from the possible“seed-germination”effect,the“seeds”Ni^(2+)grow into“buds”Ni nanoparticles and“stem”carbon nanotubes(CNTs)from the enlarged“soil”of MXene skeleton.Due to the improved impedance matching con-dition,the MXene-CNTs/Ni hybrid holds a superior microwave absorp-tion performance of−56.4 dB at only 2.4 mm thickness.Such a distinctive 3D architecture endows the hybrids:(i)a large-scale 3D magnetic coupling network in each dielectric unit that leading to the enhanced magnetic loss capability,(ii)a massive multi-heterojunction interface structure that resulting in the reinforced polarization loss capability, confirmed by the off-axis electron holography. These outstanding results provide novel ideas for developing magnetic MXene-based absorbers. 展开更多

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) is a pervasive psychiatric disorder that affects both children and adults. Adult male and female patients with ADHD are differentially affected, but few studies have explored the differences. The purpose of this study was to quantify differences between adult male and female patients with ADHD based on neuroimaging and connectivity analysis. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans were obtained and preprocessed in 82 patients. Group-wise differences between male and female patients were quantified using degree centrality for different brain regions. The medial-, middle-, and inferior-frontal gyrus, superior parietal lobule, precuneus, supramarginal gyrus, superior- and middle-temporal gyrus, middle occipital gyrus, and cuneus were identified as regions with significant group-wise differences. The identified regions were correlated with clinical scores reflecting depression and anxiety and significant correlations were found. Adult ADHD patients exhibit different levels of depression and anxiety depending on sex, and our study provides insight into how changes in brain circuitry might differentially impact male and female ADHD patients. 展开更多

Temporal lobe resection is an important treatment option for epilepsy that involves removal of potentially essential brain regions. Selective amygdalohippocampectomy is a widely performed temporal lobe surgery. We suggest starting the incision for selective amygdalohippocampectomy at the inferior temporal gyrus based on diffusion magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) tractography. Diffusion MRI data from 20 normal participants were obtained from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative(PPMI) database(www.ppmi-info.org). A tractography algorithm was applied to extract neuronal fiber information for the temporal lobe, hippocampus, and amygdala. Fiber information was analyzed in terms of the number of fibers and betweenness centrality. Distances between starting incisions and surgical target regions were also considered to explore the length of the surgical path. Middle temporal and superior temporal gyrus regions have higher connectivity values than the inferior temporal gyrus and thus are not good candidates for starting the incision. The distances between inferior temporal gyrus and surgical target regions were shorter than those between middle temporal gyrus and target regions. Thus, the inferior temporal gyrus is a good candidate for starting the incision. Starting the incision from the inferior temporal gyrus would spare the important(in terms of betweenness centrality values) middle region and shorten the distance to the target regions of the hippocampus and amygdala. 展开更多

Background Noninvasive functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques have opened a "window" into the brain, allowing us to investigate the anatomical and physiological function involving acupuncture needling. Imaging its sustained effect rather than acute effect on the brain networks may further help elucidate the mechanisms by which acupuncture achieves its therapeutic effects. In this study, we aimed to investigate the functional brain networks during the post-resting state following acupuncture at KI3 in comparison with acupuncture at GB40. Methods Needling at acupoints GB40 and KI3 was performed in twelve subjects. Six minutes of scanning at rest were adopted before and after acupuncture at different acupoints. Then we divided the whole brain into 39 regions and constructed functional brain networks during the post-acupuncture resting states (PARS). Results For direct comparisons, increased correlations during post-resting state following acupuncture at KI3 compared to resting state (RS) were primarily located between the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and post temporal cortex, ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC) and post temporal cortex. These brain regions were all cognitive-related functions. In contrast, the increased connections between the anterior insula and temporal cortex mainly emerged following acupuncture at GB40 compared with the RS. Conclusions The present study demonstrates that acupuncture at different acupoints belonging to the same anatomic segment can exert different modulatory effects on the reorganizations of post-acupuncture RS networks. The heterogeneous modulation patterns between twoconditions may relate to the functional specific modulatory effects of acupuncture. 展开更多

Background: Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a novel method for studying the changes of brain networks due to acupuncture treatment. In recent years, more and more studies have focused on the brain functional connectivity network of acupuncture stimulation. Objective: To offer an overview of the different influences of acupuncture on the brain functional connec- tivity network from studies using resting-state fMRI. Search strategy: The authors performed a systematic search according to PRISMA guidelines, The database PubMed was searched from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2016 with restriction to human studies in English language. Inclusion criteria: Electronic searches were conducted in PubMed using the keywords "acupuncture" and "neuroimaging" or "resting-state fMRI" or "functional connectivity", Data extraction and analysis: Selection of included articles, data extraction and methodological quality assessments were respectively conducted by two review authors. Results: Forty-four resting-state fMRI studies were included in this systematic review according to inclu- sion criteria. Thirteen studies applied manual acupuncture vs. sham, four studies applied electro- acupuncture vs. sham, two studies also compared transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation vs. sham, and nine applied sham acupoint as control. Nineteen studies with a total number of 574 healthy subjects selected to perform fMRI only considered healthy adult volunteers. The brain functional connec- tivity of the patients had varying degrees of change. Compared with sham acupuncture, verum acupunc- ture could increase default mode network and sensorimotor network connectivity with pain-, affective- and memory-related brain areas. It has significantly greater connectivity of genuine acupuncture between the periaqueductal gray, anterior cingulate cortex, left posterior cingulate cortex, right anterior insula, limbic/paralimbic and precuneus compared with sham acupuncture. Some research had also shown that acupuncture could adjust the limbic-paralimbic-neocortical network, brainstem, cerebellum, subcortical and hippocampus brain areas. Conclusion: It can be presumed that the functional connectivity network is closely related to the mech- anism of acupuncture, and central integration plays a critical role in the acupuncture mechanism. 展开更多

The regional specifi city of hippocampal abnormalities in late-life depression(LLD) has been demonstrated in previous studies. In this study,we sought to examine the functional connectivity(FC) patterns of hippocampal subregions in remitted late-onset depression(r LOD),a special subtype of LLD. Fourteen r LOD patients and 18 healthy controls underwent clinical and cognitive evaluations as well as resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans at baseline and at ~21 months of follow-up. Each hippocampus was divided into three parts, the cornu ammonis(CA),the dentate gyrus, and the subicular complex, and then six seed-based hippocampal subregional networks were established.Longitudinal changes of the six networks over time were directly compared between the rL OD and control groups. From baseline to follow-up,the r LOD group showed a greater decline in connectivity of the left CA to the bilateral posterior cingulate cortex/precuneus(PCC/PCUN),but showed increased connectivity of the right hippocampal subregional networks with the frontal cortex(bilateral medial prefrontal cortex/anterior cingulate cortex and supplementary motor area). Further correlative analyses revealed thatthe longitudinal changes in FC between the left CA and PCC/PCUN were positively correlated with longitudinal changes in the Symbol Digit Modalities Test(r = 0.624,P = 0.017) and the Digit Span Test(r = 0.545,P = 0.044) scores in the r LOD group. These results may provide insights into the neurobiological mechanism underlying the cognitive dysfunction in r LOD patients. 展开更多

In this study, finite element analysis based on an Ansoft Maxwell software was used to reveal the temperature stability of a magnet ring and the equivalent structural periodic permanent-magnet(PPM) focusing system. It is found that with the temperature increasing, the decrease rate of magnetic induction peak(Bz)maxof single magnet ring is greater than that of remanence Brof magnet in the range from room temperature to 200 °C, however, the PPM focusing system do have the same temperature characteristics of permanent-magnet materials. It indicates that the magnetic temperature properties of the PPM system can be effectively controlled by adjusting the temperature properties of the magnets. Moreover, the higher permeability of the magnets indicates the less Hcb, giving rise to lower magnetic induction peak (Bz)′max: Finally, it should be noted that the magnetic orientation deviation angle θ(/15°) of permanent magnets has little effect on the focusing magnetic field of the PPM system at different temperatures and the temperature stability. The obtained results are beneficial to the design and selection of permanent magnets for PPM focusing system. 展开更多

Functional networks(FNs)hold significant promise in understanding brain function.Independent component analysis(ICA)has been applied in estimating FNs from functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI).However, determining an optimal model order for ICA remains challenging, leading to criticism about the reliability of FN estimation. Here,we propose a SMART(splitting-merging assisted reliable)ICA method that automatically extracts reliable FNs by clustering independent components(ICs)obtained from multi-model-order ICA using a simplified graph while providing linkages among FNs deduced from different-model orders. We extend SMART ICA to multi-subject fMRI analysis, validating its effectiveness using simulated and real fMRI data.Based on simulated data, the method accurately estimates both group-common and group-unique components and demonstrates robustness to parameters.Using two age-matched cohorts of resting fMRI data comprising 1,950 healthy subjects, the resulting reliable group-level FNs are greatly similar between the two cohorts, and interestingly the subject-specific FNs show progressive changes while age increases.Furthermore, both small-scale and large-scale brain FN templates are provided as benchmarks for future studies.Taken together,SMART ICA can automatically obtain reliable FNs in analyzing multi-subject fMRI data, while also providing linkages between different FNs. 展开更多

Magnetic sensors can be applied in vehicle recognition. Most of the existing vehicle recognition algorithms use one sensor node to measure a vehicle’s signature. However, vehicle speed variation and environmental disturbances usually cause errors during such a process. In this paper we propose a method using multiple sensor nodes to accomplish vehicle recognition.Based on the matching result of one vehicle’s signature obtained by different nodes, this method determines vehicle status and corrects signature segmentation. The co-relationship between signatures is also obtained, and the time offset is corrected by such a co-relationship.The corrected signatures are fused via maximum likelihood estimation,so as to obtain more accurate vehicle signatures.Examples show that the proposed algorithm can provide input parameters with higher accuracy. It improves the average accuracy of vehicle recognition from 94.0%to 96.1%,and especially the bus recognition accuracy from 77.6%to 92.8%. 展开更多
