As a result, it is hard to motivate those project members who may be strongly oriented toward self-management. Furthermore, for R&D projects that use the stage-gate approach, because there are multiple evaluation barriers, there may be distortions in the behavior or the training of R&D personnel. For human resource training in R&D projects, it is important to educate managers and project members in quality-cost-delivery or project-management-body-of-knowledge methods, but this is not enough. For successful R&D, it is also important to consider approaches that will enable personnel to acquire high-level tacit knowledge related to project management (PM) and practical wisdom (i.e., phronesis). If comprehensive human resource training that fosters the learning of PM-related knowledge and management by belief (MBB) is possible, this holds forth the prospect of effective human resource training methods for R&D projects. The present research examines the human resource training process for R&D projects by using a PM phronesis acquisition model. We confirmed the effectiveness of the PM phronesis acquisition model proposed in this research by testing in an actual R&D project.展开更多

The significances and constructions of OSRM are analyzed. Both the fundamental facts and the important natures that the things which are interested by Objects Served (OS) (e. g. publishers and readers) and the server (e. g. digital libraries are the servers of publishers and readers) will not be the same completely although there are a lot of common benefits between OS and servers, are indeed clarified. The valuable information, which should be used by OS and their server, is often hidden behind them. Thus, how to find, manage and control the relationship among OS and their servers is very necessary and important for the common benefits among all of them.(e. g. the three dimensions of OSRM in digital library system and its overall framwork are proposed. The different strategies to different cases in the digital library's multidimensional framework are analyzed.)展开更多

This paper analyses five basic features of product data management and combines them with real industrial examples. Then, an object oriented product data management model is presented. To carry out the model, the paper presents the architecture of the Cax information management and integration system (Cax IMIS), and focuses on its core technology, implementation of an object management framework, and discusses the process of realizing the inherent attributes, relations, and messages between objects using the object dictionary and storing detail information about the persistent objects in relation database management system (RDBMS). The method provides an effective object management framework for Cax IMIS.展开更多

Server applications usually run for years and spawn many threads, so they create and discard thousands of objects. Therefore, efficient garbage collection is especially important for those applications. This paper presents a class-based garbage collector for object-oriented programming environments that classifies objects by their types to achieve better gradualness. Grouping objects of the same type into a group, with a limited type-lock, a mutator cache and the lease protocol will reduce memory fragmentation, which is especially important for the efficiency of long-running server applications. This class-based collector partitions the heap space by type, which provides better concurrency than the traditional mark-sweep collector, and its reusable garbaged object pool also reduces the object allocation overhead. This paper also discusses the implementation details, such as the mutator cache and the lease protocol, and techniques to achieve better accuracy.展开更多
