The trial was established at the Njala Agricultural Research Centre experimental site during 2021 and 2022 in a split block design with three maize varieties (IWCD2, 2009EVDT, and DMR-ESR-Yellow) and seven nitrogen (0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 kg∙N∙ha−1) rates. Findings showed that cob diameter and anthesis silking time (ASI) had intermediate heritability, ASI had high genetic advance, ASI and grain yield had high genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV), while traits with high phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) were plant height, ASI, grain yield, number of kernel per cob, number of kernel rows, ear length, and ear height. The PCV values were higher than GCV, indicating the influence of the environment in the studied traits. Nitrogen rates and variety significantly (p < 0.05) influenced grain yield production. Mean grain yields and economic parameter estimates increased with increasing nitrogen rates, with the 30 and 180 kg∙N∙ha−1 plots exhibiting the lowest and highest grain yields of 1238 kg∙ha−1 and 2098 kg∙ha−1, respectively. Variety and nitrogen effects on partial factor productivity (PFPN), agronomic efficiency (AEN), net returns (NR), value cost ratio (VCR) and marginal return (MR) indicated that these parameters were significantly affected (p < 0.05) by these factors. The highest PFPN (41.3 kg grain kg−1∙N) and AEN (29.4 kg grain kg−1∙N) were obtained in the 30 kg∙N∙ha−1 plots, while the highest VCR (2.8) and MR (SLL 1.8 SLL−1 spent on N) were obtained in the 180 kg∙N∙ha−1. The significant influence of variety and nitrogen on traits suggests that increasing yields and maximizing profits require use of appropriate nitrogen fertilization and improved farming practices that could be exploited for increased productivity of maize.展开更多

Cancer is the leading cause of death among individuals younger than 85 years within the United States. Despite significant technological advances, including the expenditure of hundreds of billions, treatment outcomes and overall survival have not notably improved for most types of advanced cancer over the last several decades. Over the past 24 years, Envita Medical Centers has pioneered a unique form of personalized treatment approach for late-stage and refractory cancer patients, introducing groundbreaking innovations in the field. Our integrated algorithm utilizes advanced genomics, transcriptomics, and highly tailored immunotherapy, resulting in remarkable outcome improvements. This study presents Envita’s innovative personalized treatment algorithms and examines the response outcomes of 199 late-stage cancer patients treated at Envita Medical Centers over a two-year period. Compared to standard of care and palliative chemotherapy, Envita’s treatment demonstrated a remarkable 35-fold improvement in overall response rates (Figure 1). Moreover, 88% of the patients, the majority presenting with Stage 3 or 4 cancer, experienced a 43-fold improvement in quality of life with minimal side effects, as compared to standard of care chemotherapy and palliative care. This revolutionary success is attributed to Envita’s personalized therapeutic algorithms, which incorporate customized immunotherapy. Envita’s precision care approach has also achieved a 100% better response rate compared to over 65 global chemotherapy clinical trials with more than 2700 patients. The results from this study suggest that a wider utilization of Envita’s personalized approach can significantly benefit patients with late-stage and refractory cancer.展开更多

However, these factors have not been adequately investigated on direct-seeded and double-season rice(DDR) in Central China. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of various N and seeding rates on the grain yield and NUE of an ultrashort-duration variety grown under DDR. Field experiments were conducted in 2018 in Wuxue County and 2019 in Qichun County, Hubei Province, China with four N rates and three seeding rates. The results showed that the grain yield of the ultrashort-duration variety ranged from 6.32 to 8.23 t ha–1with a total growth duration of 85 to 97 days across all treatments with N application. Grain yield was increased significantly by N application in most cases, but seeding rate had an inconsistent effect on grain yield. Furthermore, the response of grain yield to the N rates was much higher than the response to seeding rates. The moderate N rates of 100–150 and 70–120 kg N ha–1in the early and late seasons, respectively, could fully express the yield potential of the ultrashort-duration variety grown under DDR. Remarkably higher N responses and agronomic NUE levels were achieved in the early-season rice compared with the late-season rice due to the difference in indigenous soil N supply capacity(INS) between the two seasons. Seasonal differences in INS and N response should be considered when crop management practices are optimized for achieving high grain yield and NUE in ultrashort-duration variety grown under DDR.展开更多

This model pertains to the dynamic properties of polymeric fluids. Under appropriate assumptions on smooth function f, we find a particular solution to the GPTT model. In dimension three, we establish the global existence and the optimal time decay rates of strong solutions provided that the initial data is close to the particular solution. The results which are presented here are generalizations of the network viscoelastic models.展开更多

However, many research works used local-scale case studies that focused on a specific earthquake characteristic using knowledgedriven techniques, such as crustal deformation analysis. In this study, a data-driven-based analysis is used to detect anomalies using displacement rates and deformation pattern features extracted from daily global navigation satellite system(GNSS) data using a machine learning algorithm. The GNSS data with188 and 1181 continuously operating reference stations from Indonesia and Japan, respectively, are used to identify the anomaly of recent major earthquakes in the last two decades. Feature displacement rates and deformation patterns are processed in several window times with 2560 experiment scenarios to produce the best detection using tree-based algorithms. Tree-based algorithms with a single estimator(decision tree), ensemble bagging(bagging, random forest and Extra Trees), and ensemble boosting(AdaBoost, gradient boosting, LGBM, and XGB) are applied in the study. The experiment test using realtime scenario GNSSdailydatareveals high F1-scores and accuracy for anomaly detection using slope windowing 365 and 730 days of 91-day displacement rates and then 7-day deformation pattern features in tree-based algorithms. The results show the potential for medium-term anomaly detection using GNSS data without the need for multiple vulnerability assessments.展开更多

The equipment scheme and procedures for result calculation are described, following a review of literature. Through the proposed procedure, 24 tests are conducted, in order to study the erodibility of a sandy soil and a clayey soil, in undeformed and reconstituted conditions. These are conducted using grass roots in controlled quantities, to quantify root effects on erodibility. The results of soil loss by elapsed time and the definition of the erodibility K factor shows that clayey soil is 90% less erodible compared with sandy soil. Also, roots show no significant relationship with K factor and the undeformed sample is less erodible, compared with reconstituted sample. The test methodology and the results allowed soil classification, analytical data and comparative results between different cases.展开更多

The dissipation mechanism is due to strain rates as well as rotation rates. Model problems are designed to demonstrate and illustrate various significant aspects of the micropolar NCCT with rotational inertial physics considered in this paper. In case of micropolar solids, the translational and rotational waves are shown to coexist. In the absence of microconstituents (classical continuum theory, CCT) the internal rotations are a free field, hence have no influence on CCT. Absence of gradients of displacements and strains in micropolar thermoviscous fluid medium prohibits existence of translational waves as well as rotational waves even though the appearance of the mathematical model is analogous to the solids, but in terms of strain rates. It is shown that in case of micropolar thermoviscous fluids the BAM behaves more like time dependent diffusion equation i.e., like heat conduction equation in Lagrangian description. The influence of rotational inertial physics is demonstrated using BLM as well as BAM in the model problem studies.展开更多

文摘In this paper,we study the one-dimensional motion of viscous gas near a vacuum, with the gas connecting to a vacuum state with a jump in density. The interface behavior, the pointwise decay rates of the density function and the expanding rates of the interface are obtained with the viscosity coefficientμ(ρ)=ρ^(α)for any 0<α<1;this includes the timeweighted boundedness from below and above. The smoothness of the solution is discussed. Moreover,we construct a class of self-similar classical solutions which exhibit some interesting properties, such as optimal estimates. The present paper extends the results in[Luo T,Xin Z P,Yang T.SIAM J Math Anal,2000,31(6):1175-1191]to the jump boundary conditions case with density-dependent viscosity.
文摘This study evaluated the genetic and agronomic parameter estimates of maize under different nitrogen rates. The significant influence of variety and nitrogen on traits suggests that increasing yields and maximizing profits require use of appropriate nitrogen fertilization and improved farming practices that could be exploited for increased productivity of maize.

文摘Interactive holography offers unmatched levels of immersion and user engagement in the field of future display.Despite of the substantial progress has been made in dynamic meta-holography,the realization of real-time,highly smooth interactive holography remains a significant challenge due to the computational and display frame rate limitations. In this study,we introduced a dynamic interactive bitwise meta-holography with ultra-high computational and display frame rates. To our knowledge, this is the first reported practical dynamic interactive metasurface holographic system. We spa-tially divided the metasurface device into multiple distinct channels, each projecting a reconstructed sub-pattern.The switching states of these channels were mapped to bitwise operations on a set of bit values, which avoids complex holo-gram computations, enabling an ultra-high computational frame rate. Our approach achieves a computational frame rate of 800 kHz and a display frame rate of 23 kHz on a low-power Raspberry Pi computational platform.According to this methodology,we demonstrated an interactive dynamic holographic Tetris game system that allows interactive gameplay, color display, and on-the-fly hologram creation. Our technology presents an inspiration for advanced dynamic meta-holography,which is promising for a broad range of applications including advanced human-computer interaction,real-time 3D visualization, and next-generation virtual and augmented reality systems.

文摘The dynamic spalling characteristics of rock are important for stability analysis in rock engineering. This paper presented an experimental investigation on the dynamic spalling characteristics of granite with different temperatures and strain rates.A series of dynamic spalling tests with different impact velocities were conducted on thermally treated granite at different temperatures. The dynamic spalling strengths of granite with different temperatures and strain rates were determined.A model was proposed to correlate the dynamic spalling strength of granite, high temperature and strain rate. The results show that the spalling strength of granite decreases with increasing temperature. Moreover, the spalling strength of granite with a higher strain rate is larger than that with a lower strain rate. The proposed model can describe the relationship among dynamic spalling strength of granite, high temperature and strain rate.

文摘The extruded AZ80+0.4%Ce magnesium alloy was twisted in the temperature range of 300-380℃by using a Gleeble 3500 thermal simulation test machine with a torsion unit. The deformed cylindrical specimens were cooled at a cooling rate of 10℃/s or 0.1℃/s,respectively,and aged at 170℃.The microstructure analysis results showed that the grain size decreased with increasing specimen radial position from center(SRPC),and that the strong initial basal texture of the extruded magnesium alloy was weakened. Both continuous and discontinuous dynamic recrystallization mechanisms were involved in contributing to the grain refinement for all specimens investigated. And a novel extension twinning induced dynamic recrystallization mechanism was proposed for specimen deformed at 300℃.For the specimens deformed at 300℃and 340℃followed by a slow cooling rate(0.1℃/s),precipitates of various shapes(β-Mg_(17)Al_(12)),with the dominant precipitates being on the grains boundaries, appeared on the surface section. For specimen deformed at 380℃,lamellar precipitates(LPS)in the interiors of the grains were predominant. After aging, the LPS still dominated for specimens twisted at 380℃;however,the LPS gradually decreased with decreasing deformation temperatures from 380℃to 300℃.Dynamically precipitatedβ,especially those decorating the grain boundaries, changed the competition pictures for the LPS and precipitates of other shapes after aging.Interestingly,LPS dominated the areas for the center section of the specimens after aging regardless of deformation temperatures.Low temperature deformation with high SRPC followed by rapid cooling rate increased the micro hardness of the alloy after aging due to refined grain, reduced precipitates size, decreased lamellar spacing as well as strain hardening.

文摘In recent years, there has been a significant acceleration in the thinning, calving and retreat of the Pine Island Ice Shelf(PIIS).The basal channels, results of enhanced basal melting, have the potential to significantly impact the stability of the PIIS.In this study,we used a variety of remote sensing data, including Landsat,REMA DEM,ICESat-1 and ICESat-2 satellite altimetry observations, and Ice Bridge airborne measurements,to study the spatiotemporal changes in the basal channels from 2003 to 2020 and basal melt rate from 2010 to 2017 of the PIIS under the Eulerian framework. We found that the basal channels are highly developed in the PIIS,with a total length exceeding 450 km.Most of the basal channels are ocean-sourced or groundingline-sourced basal channels, caused by the rapid melting under the ice shelf or near the groundingline.A raised seabed prevented warm water intrusion into the eastern branch of the PIIS,resulting in a lower basal melt rate in that area.In contrast,a deepsea trough facilitates warm seawater into the mainstream and the western branch of the PIIS,resulting in a higher basal melt rate in the main-stream,and the surface elevation changes above the basal channels of the mainstream and western branch are more significant. The El Ni?o event in 2015–2016 possibly slowed down the basal melting of the PIIS by modulating wind field, surface sea temperature and depth seawater temperature.Ocean and atmospheric changes were driven by El Ni?o,which can further explain and confirm the changes in the basal melting of the PIIS.
文摘New clinical approaches are imperative beyond the widely adopted National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines, utilized by prominent cancer institutions. The results from this study suggest that a wider utilization of Envita’s personalized approach can significantly benefit patients with late-stage and refractory cancer.

文摘Nitrogen(N) and seeding rates are important factors affecting grain yield and N use efficiency(NUE) in directseeded rice. Seasonal differences in INS and N response should be considered when crop management practices are optimized for achieving high grain yield and NUE in ultrashort-duration variety grown under DDR.

文摘The study of pressure stimulated current(PSC)changes of rocks is significant to monitor dynamic disasters in mines and rock masses. The existing studies focus on change laws and mechanism of currents generated under the loading of rocks. An electrical and mechanics test system was established in this paper to explore the impacts of loading rates on PSCs.The results indicated that PSC curves of different rocks had different change laws under low/high loading rates. When the loading rate was relatively low,PSC curves firstly changed gently and then increased exponentially.Under high loading rates,PSC curves experienced the rapid increase stage, gentle increase stage and sudden change stage. The compressive strength could greatly affect the peak PSC in case of rock failure. The loading rate was a key factor in average PSC.Under low loading rates, the variations of PSCs conformed to the damage charge model of fracture mechanics, while they did not at the fracture moment.Under high loading rates, the PSCs at low stress didn’t fit the model due to the stress impact effects. The experimental results could provide theoretical basis for the influence of loading rates on PSCs.

文摘The shear strength of sand-foam mixtures plays a crucial role in ensuring successful earth pressure balance(EPB)shield tunneling.Since the sand-foam mixtures are constantly sheared by the cutterhead and the screw conveyor with varied rotation speeds during tunneling,it is non-trivial to investigate the effect of shear rates on the undrained shear strength of sand-foam mixtures under chamber pressures to extend the understanding on the tunneling process. This study conducted a series of pressurized vane shear tests to investigate the role of shear rates on the peak and residual strengths of sand-foam mixtures at different pore states.Different from the shear-rate characteristics of natural sands or clay, the results showed that the peak strength of sand-foam mixtures under high vertical total stress(σ_(v)≥200 kPa)and low foam injection ratio(FIR30%)decreased with the increase in shear rate.Otherwise, the peak strength was not measurably affected by shear rates. The sand-foam mixtures in the residual state resembled low-viscous fluid with yield stress and the residual strength increased slightly with shear rates. In addition, the peak and residual strengths were approximately linear with vertical effective stress regardless of the total stress and FIR.The peak effective internal friction angle remained almost invariant in a low shear rate(γ′<0.25 s1)but decreased when the shear rate continued increasing. The residual effective internal friction angle was lower than the peak counterpart and insensitive to shear rates. This study unveiled the role of shear rates in the undrained shear strength of sand-foam mixtures with various FIRs and vertical total stresses. The findings can extend the understanding of the rate-dependent shear characteristics of conditioned soils and guide the decision-making of soil conditioning schemes in the EPB shield tunneling practice.

文摘The process of entrainment-mixing between cumulus clouds and the ambient air is important for the development of cumulus clouds.Accurately obtaining the entrainment rate(λ)is particularly important for its parameterization within the overall cumulus parameterization scheme. In this study,an improved bulk-plume method is proposed by solving the equations of two conserved variables simultaneously to calculateλof cumulus clouds in a large-eddy simulation. The results demonstrate that the improved bulk-plume method is more reliable than the traditional bulk-plume method, becauseλ,as calculated from the improved method, falls within the range ofλvalues obtained from the traditional method using different conserved variables. The probability density functions ofλfor all data, different times, and different heights can be well-fitted by a log-normal distribution, which supports the assumed stochastic entrainment process in previous studies.Further analysis demonstrate that the relationship betweenλand the vertical velocity is better than other thermodynamic/dynamical properties;thus, the vertical velocity is recommended as the primary influencing factor for the parameterization ofλin the future. The results of this study enhance the theoretical understanding ofλand its influencing factors and shed new light on the development ofλparameterization.

文摘In this paper, we consider the initial value problem for the incompressible generalized Phan-Thien-Tanner(GPTT) model. The results which are presented here are generalizations of the network viscoelastic models.

文摘Research on strain anomalies and large earthquakes based on temporal and spatial crustal activities has been rapidly growing due to data availability, especially in Japan and Indonesia. The results show the potential for medium-term anomaly detection using GNSS data without the need for multiple vulnerability assessments.
文摘The effects of cooling rates on solidification behaviors, segregation characteristics and tensile property of GH4151 alloy were investigated using microstructure characterization and tensile test.Firstly,a relationship between the secondary dendrite arm spacing and cooling rate was determined and it was confirmed to be valid.Secondly,it can be found from microstructure observations that the morphology of(Nb,Ti)C carbides transits from blocky and script type to fine script type and spotty type, and the refinedγ'phase was observed due to decrease of segregation with increasing cooling rates.Thirdly, the solidification microstructures of the industrial-scale samples were analyzed. The morphology ofηphase changes from indistinguishable shape, fine needle-like shape to large block-like shape with increasing ingot diameter. As a result, the mechanical properties of alloy decrease due to increase of brittle precipitations. The experimental results show that the precipitation behavior of GH4151 is affected by segregation degree of elements, and the segregation degree is determined by solute distribution process and solid back-diffusion process.
文摘This paper presents a proposal for erodibility quantitative evaluation through a hydraulic flume based on the Inderbitzen erosion test. The test methodology and the results allowed soil classification, analytical data and comparative results between different cases.

文摘In the last years, shale gas has gradually substituted oil and coal as the main sources of energy in the world.Compared with shallow shale gas reservoirs, deep shale is characterized by low permeability, low porosity, strong heterogeneity, and strong anisotropy. In the process of multi-cluster fracturing of horizontal wells, the whole deformation process and destruction modes are significantly influenced by loading rates. In this investigation, the servo press was used to carry out semi-circular bend(SCB)mixedmode fracture experiments in deep shales(130,160,190℃)with prefabricated fractures under different loading rates(0.02,0.05,0.1,0.2 mm/min).The fracture propagation process was monitored using acoustic emission. The deformation characteristics, displacementeload curve, and acoustic emission parameters of shale under different loading rates were studied during the mixed-mode fracture propagation. Our results showed that during the deformation and fracture of the specimen, the acoustic emission energy and charge significantly increased near the stress peak, showing at this point the most intense acoustic emission activity. With the increase in loading rate, the fracture peak load of the deep shale specimen also increased. However, the maximum displacement decreased to different extents. With the increase in temperature, the effective fracture toughness of the deep shale gradually decreased. Also, the maximum displacement decreased.Under different loading rates, the deformation of the prefabricated cracks showed a nonlinear slow growthelinear growth trend. The slope of the linear growth stage increased with the increase in loading rate.In addition,as the loading rate increased,an increase in tension failure and a decrease in shear failure were observed. Moreover, the control chart showing the relationship between tension and the shear failure under different temperatures and loading rates was determined.

文摘Degradability of bone tissue engineering scaffold that matching the regeneration rate could allow a complete replacement of host tissue. However, the porous structure of biodegradable Mg scaffolds certainly generated high specific surface area, and the three-dimensional interconnected pores provided fast pervasive invasion entrance for the corrosive medium, rising concern of the structural integrity during the degradation. To clarify the structural evolution of the three-dimensional(3D)porous structure,semi-static immersion tests were carried out to evaluate the degradation performance in our previous study.Nevertheless, dynamic immersion tests mimicking the in vivo circulatory fluid through the interconnected porous structure have yet been investigated. Moreover, the effects of dynamic flow rates on the degradation deposition behavior of 3D porous Mg scaffolds were rarely reported. In this study,Mg scaffolds degraded at three flow rates exhibited different degradation rates and deposition process.A flow rate of 0.5 m L/min introduced maximum drop of porosity by accumulated deposition products. The deposition products provided limited protection against the degradation process at a flow rate of 1.0 m L/min.The three-dimensional interconnected porous structure of Mg scaffold degraded at 2.0 m L/min well retained after 14 days showing the best interconnectivity resistance to the degradation deposition process. The dynamic immersion tests disclosed the reason for the different degradation rates on account of flow rates, which may bring insight into understanding of varied in vivo degradation rates related to implantation sites.

文摘This work aimed to construct an epidemic model with fuzzy parameters.Since the classical epidemic model doesnot elaborate on the successful interaction of susceptible and infective people, the constructed fuzzy epidemicmodel discusses the more detailed versions of the interactions between infective and susceptible people.Thenext-generation matrix approach is employed to find the reproduction number of a deterministic model.Thesensitivity analysis and local stability analysis of the systemare also provided. For solving the fuzzy epidemic model,a numerical scheme is constructed which consists of three time levels. The numerical scheme has an advantage overthe existing forward Euler scheme for determining the conditions of getting the positive solution. The establishedscheme also has an advantage over existing non-standard finite difference methods in terms of order of accuracy. The stability of the scheme for the considered fuzzy model is also provided. From the plotted results,it can beobserved that susceptible people decay by rising interaction parameters.
文摘This paper presents model problem studies for micropolar thermoviscoelastic solids without memory and micropolar thermoviscous fluid using micropolar non-classical continuum theories (NCCT) based on internal rotations and rotation rates in which rotational inertial physics is considered in the derivation of the conservation and balance laws (CBL). The influence of rotational inertial physics is demonstrated using BLM as well as BAM in the model problem studies.
