Meaning in life and well-being of older stroke survivors in Chinese communities: Mediating effects of mastery and self-esteem

The study aims to examine the role of mastery and self-esteem as a potential mediator of the relationship of meaning in life and well-being among older Chinese stroke survivors. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 214 community-dwelling older stroke survivors (128 men and 86 women), ranging from 60 years to 88 years old. The meaning in life, mastery, self-esteem and subjective well-being were measured. The results indicated that: 1) The meaning in life and subjective well-being of stroke survivors were significantly positive correlated;2) Mastery and self-esteem played partial mediating roles between existential vacuum and subjective well-being;Self-esteem played full a mediating role between suffer acceptance and subjective well-being;Mastery played a full mediating role between life control and subjective well-being;Mastery played a partial mediating role between death acceptance and subjective well-being;Self-esteem also played a partial mediating role between mastery and subjective well-being.

Simulation-based mastery learning in gastrointestinal endoscopy training

Simulation-based mastery learning(SBML)is an emerging form of competencybased training that has been proposed as the next standard method for procedural task training,including that in gastr-ointestinal endoscopy.Current basic gastrointestinal endoscopy training relies on the number of procedures performed,and it has been criticized for its lack of objective standards that result in variable skills among trainees and its association with patient safety risk.Thus,incorporating simulators into a competency-based curriculum seems ideal for gastrointestinal endoscopy training.The curriculum for SBML in gastrointestinal endoscopy is currently being developed and has promising potential to translate into the clinical performance.Unlike the present apprenticeship model of“see one,do one,teach one,”SBML integrates a competency-based curriculum with specific learning objectives alongside simulation-based training.This allows trainees to practice essential skills repeatedly,receive feedback from experts,and gradually develop their abilities to achieve mastery.Moreover,trainees and trainers need to understand the learning targets of the program so that trainees can focus their learning on the necessary skills and trainers can provide structured feedback based on the expected outcomes.In addition to learning targets,an assessment plan is essential to provide trainees with future directions for their improvement and ensure patient safety by issuing a passing standard.Finally,the SBML program should be planned and managed by a specific team and conducted within a developed and tested curriculum.This review discusses the current state of gastr-ointestinal endoscopy training and the role of SBML in that field.

Classification of Attribute Mastery Patterns Using Deep Learning

It is very important to identify the attribute mastery patterns of the examinee in cognitive diagnosis assessment. There are many methods to classify the attribute mastery patterns and many studies have been done to diagnose what the individuals have mastered and or Montel Carl Computer Simulation is used to study the classification of the attribute mastery patterns by Deep Learning. Four results were found. Firstly, Deep Learning can be used to classify the attribute mastery patterns efficiently. Secondly, the complication of the structures will decrease the accuracy of the classification. The order of the influence is linear, convergent, unstructured and divergent. It means that the divergent is the most complicated, and the accuracy of this structure is the lowest among the four structures. Thirdly, with the increasing rates of the slipping and guessing, the accuracy of the classification decreased in verse, which is the same as the existing research results. At last, the results are influenced by the sample size of the training, and the proper sample size is in need of deeper discussion.

The Mastery of Listening Skills for College Students

Aiming at solving the problems of lacking listening skills practices in English class. The paper is written for two purposes. Firstly, it intends to drive the attention of present obstacles in English listening teaching. Most children in China have their English classes at schools, however, they don't learn too much English they just learn about English. After years of learning the problems come up: the college students who have passed CET4(College English Test) and CET6 are unable to speak or listen to native speakers. Secondly, it tries to introduce the listening skills and the methods of teaching it. Language is not a knowledge but a skill, to learn language does not mean to know as many rules and information about it, but is to practice from the first day your learn it and do practice as much as possible.

Role of authentic leadership and personal mastery in predicting employee creative behavior:a self-determination perspective

Personality dispositions and their role in inducing employee creative behavior are well documented in the literature.However,much is unexplored about the collective and relative contribution of personality orientations and environmental factors in explaining creative behavior.This study used a framework based on selfdetermination theory(SDT)to measure the combined and relative contribution of personal mastery orientation and authentic leadership in predicting employee creative behavior as mediated by autonomous motivation.A self-reported survey was conducted among software developers working in software houses.The results of the study show that both personal mastery and authentic leadership are significant predictors of employee creative behavior.In addition,autonomous motivation significantly mediates the relationship between personal mastery,authentic leadership,and creative behavior.The findings of the study lend support to the combined effect of personality orientation and environmental factors in predicting employee creative behavior and test the SDT framework’s efficacy in predicting creative behavior.

Application of Solution-Focused Approach in Nursing Care of Advanced Schistosomiasis

Objective:To analyze the effect of solution-focused approach on advanced schistosomiasis(AS).Methods:10 cases of patients with AS that were treated with a solution-focused approach were included in our study.The indicators before and after the intervention were measured(knowledge mastery,prevention and treatment compliance,personal behavior,self-care ability,management satisfaction,complication rate).Results:After analyzing pre-and post-intervention indicators,statistical significance was found(P<0.05).The intervention received a satisfaction rate of 80.00%,with a complication rate of 10.00%.Conclusion:Using a solution-focused approach for ankylosing spondylitis(AS)patients can enhance their understanding and attitude toward disease prevention and treatment,improve their behaviors and self-care ability,resulting in high satisfaction and reduced complications.

Effects of the information–knowledge–attitude–practice nursing model combined with predictability intervention on patients with cerebrovascular disease

BACKGROUND Cerebrovascular disease(CVD)poses a serious threat to human health and safety.Thus,developing a reasonable exercise program plays an important role in the long-term recovery and prognosis for patients with CVD.Studies have shown that predictive nursing can improve the quality of care and that the information–knowledge–attitude–practice(IKAP)nursing model has a positive impact on patients who suffered a stroke.Few studies have combined these two nursing models to treat CVD.AIM To explore the effect of the IKAP nursing model combined with predictive nursing on the Fugl–Meyer motor function(FMA)score,Barthel index score,and disease knowledge mastery rate in patients with CVD.METHODS A total of 140 patients with CVD treated at our hospital between December 2019 and September 2021 were randomly divided into two groups,with 70 patients in each.The control group received routine nursing,while the observation group received the IKAP nursing model combined with predictive nursing.Both groups were observed for self-care ability,motor function,and disease knowledge mastery rate after one month of nursing.RESULTS There was no clear difference between the Barthel index and FMA scores of the two groups before nursing(P>0.05);however,their scores increased after nursing.This increase was more apparent in the observation group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The rates of disease knowledge mastery,timely medication,appropriate exercise,and reasonable diet were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).The satisfaction rate in the observation group(97.14%)was significantly higher than that in the control group(81.43%;P<0.05).CONCLUSION The IKAP nursing model,combined with predictive nursing,is more effective than routine nursing in the care of patients with CVD,and it can significantly improve the Barthel index and FMA scores with better knowledge acquisition,as well as produce high satisfaction in patients.Moreover,they can be widely used in the clinical setting.

A meta-analytic review of Elliot's (1999) Hierarchical Model of Approach and Avoidance Motivation in the sport, physical activity, and physical education literature

Purpose: The purpose of this quantitative review was to summarize the state of Elliot's Hierarchical Model of Approach and Avoidance Motivation, specifically the antecedents of the 2 × 2 achievement goals in the sport, physical activity, and physical education literature. In addition,the intercorrelations amongst the 2 × 2 goals were also examined.Methods: A systematic review of the literature was conducted. Meta-analytic procedures were used with the mean weighted sample correlation(rw) as the effect size metric. The antecedents were coded by Elliot's(1999) antecedent categories. A number of moderators were coded a priori.Results: Based on a fixed effects model from 47 published studies(total unique n = 15,413) that met inclusion criteria, the 2 × 2 achievement goals were significantly correlated amongst each other ranging from small to medium to large in meaningfulness. Concerning the antecedents, overall they were theoretically correct in associations, but only a few of the relationships were medium in meaningfulness. Most relationships were small in meaningfulness. Heterogeneity was present for the interrcorrelation and antecedent analyses.Conclusion: Future research is encouraged to grow and enrich the understanding of achievement goals within Elliot's complete Hierarchical Model of Approach and Avoidance Motivation to include both antecedents and outcomes simultaneously to improve upon the understanding of achievement motivation in sport, exercise, and physical activity settings.

Impact of specialized nursing outpatient case management on postcoronary artery bypass grafting patients

BACKGROUND Some patients with coronary atherosclerotic heart disease experience major adverse cardiac events(MACE)and require readmission after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting(CABG)surgery.This is often attributed to patients'unhealthy lifestyles and dietary habits,inadequate understanding of the disease,and poor disease management compliance.Thus,searching for more targeted nursing intervention models that can enhance patients'self-management abilities and reduce the risk of readmission after CABG surgery is significant.AIM To observe the impact of specialized nursing outpatient case management on patients after CABG surgery.METHODS A total of 103 patients who underwent CABG surgery in our hospital between April 2021 and April 2022 comprised the study sample.The patients were divided into two groups using an odd-even number grouping method.The control group received routine nursing care,while the case management group received specialized nursing outpatient case management.The differences in psychological status,adherence to medical treatment,self-care ability,knowledge mastery,quality of life scores,and the occurrence rate of MACE were compared between the two groups.RESULTS After the intervention,the case management group had lower scores on the selfrating depression scale and self-rating anxiety scale and lower MACE rate,as well as higher scores for adherence to a healthy diet,medication adherence,good lifestyle habits,regular exercise,and timely follow-up,higher scores on the Coronary Heart Disease Self-Management Scale,higher scores for managing adverse habits,symptoms,emotional cognition,emergency response,disease knowledge,general lifestyle,and treatment adherence,higher scores for understanding coronary heart disease,recognizing the importance of medication adherence,understanding selfcare points after CABG surgery,and being aware of post-CABG precautions,higher scores for physical well-being,disease condition,general health,social-psychological well-being,and work-related aspects(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Specialized nursing outpatient case management can enhance patient adherence to medical treatment,knowledge mastery,psychological well-being,and overall quality of life in patients after CABG surgery.

Objective:Acupuncture is an efficient treatment modality for many different training,but the technique can be challenging to master.Identification of the different acupuncture points can now be practiced in a standardized and patient-safe simulation-based environment.We aim to gather additional evidence regarding simulation-based training of acupuncture skills and hope that the simulation-based test developed and will be used for simulation-based mastery learning in future develop.Methods:The aim of this study was to develop a test of acupuncture skills using the TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine) Meridians & Acupoints Anatomy Teaching Platform and gather validity evidence using Messick’s framework.Novice medical students without prior experience in acupuncture(n=43),intermediate medical students who had finished the mandatory acupuncture course(n=24),and skilled acupuncture doctors(n=17) were included in the study.One-hundred and seven acupuncture points were presented to the participants in identical randomized order and they were asked to identify each point by touching the correct anatomical location on the simulator.The simulator automatically registered the accuracy of participants’ answers.Results:The reliability of the final test(66 acupuncture points) was at a high level with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.98 and only 16 acupuncture points were needed to ensure a reliability of 0.90.The test could discriminate significantly between all three groups and a credible pass/fail-score of 34 points was determined which resulted in eight out of 43(19%) novices passing the test and only two out of 17(12%)experienced failing the test.These consequences were statistically significant(P <0.001).Conclusion:Based on Messick’s framework we demonstrated strong validity evidence for a newly developed simulation-based test of acupuncture points localization skills.The test can be used as an aid to decide when trainees are ready to progress to more advanced training and clinical practice.Compared with the traditional point-point test,the point-point evaluation of the simulator can be more objective and reduce the effort of teachers.

What Do We Test When We Test Reading Comprehension?

As English teachers we give our students reading assessments in order to test theirreading abilities.However,some teachers may not be aware that the comprehension questions theyformulate only test students’ ability to understand and recall ideas and information directly stated in thegiven text.Actually there are more our students need to learn through different levels of comprehension-literal,interpretive and critical comprehension.

China-England Mathematics Teacher Exchange and Its Impact

Based on four longitudinal evaluation reports of the China-England Mathematics Teacher Exchange(MTE)and related materials provided by the Chinese and English program teams,this article analyzes the impact of the MTE on English mathematics education.Certain positive impacts on mathematics teaching in England were found,especially regarding the formation of new knowledge concepts,the sharing of teachers’professional knowledge and the generation of practical knowledge.Furthermore,as a platform for two-way communication and cooperation between the two countries in teaching resources,the MTE program has proven to be an innovative way for the sharing of educational resources.Moreover,as the program improves and develops,its impacts on mathematics education in Western countries and beyond will continue to grow.

Study of Priority Recommendation Method Based on Cognitive Diagnosis Model

In the context of personalized learning,the recommendation method aims to provide appropriate exercises for each student.And individualized knowledge status may give more effective recommendation.In this study,a priority recommendation method based on cognitive diagnosis model is proposed,and cosine similarity algorithm is applied to improve the accuracy and interpretability of recommendation.Then the performance of the methods was compared under cognitive diagnosis models.The experimental results show that the method proposed achieves more accurate results and better performance.
