A Study of Humor of The Actor' s Lines in If You Are the One from the Perspective of Cooperative Principle

In the thesis the author explores the humor of the actor' s lines in If You Are the One from the perspective of cooperative princi ple and its four maxims in the context of pragmatics.Through analyzing the purposeful violation of the maxims in the environment of the cooperation principle,the author intends to probe into the ways the actors figure out the implicature of humorous utterances and manage to carry on the conversation and the reproduction of the amusing effect.

The Application of Cooperative Principle in Translation

The cooperative principle in conversation proposed by Herberr Paul Grice is an important theory in pragmatics,which contrib utes a lot to translation.It introduces pragmatics to translation field and injects fresh vigor to translation practice.Translation is also a kind of conversation some time,thus it should also obey the Cooperative Principle and its maxims.Sometimes,translators have to violate some maxims in order to obey the cooperative principle better in some extent.This article will show some examples in which cooperative princi ples can be used as a guide or a scale to improve the quality of translation.

An Aspectual Analysis of Grice’s Maxim of Relation:Compared With the Principle of Relevance

The Cooperative Principle proposed by Herbert Paul Grice in 1967 requires speakers’utterances to comply with the objective of discourses,while receivers construct assumptions by reasoning speakers’implicatures.He set some maxims and sub-maxims to attempt to explain how the hearers get what is meant from what is said by speakers.What interests me is that the Maxim of Relation only includes one simple annotation—Be relevant without any other sub-maxims.Honestly,this is too obscure.So I would like to analyse Grice’s Maxim of Relation from its definition as well as classification,the discourse-topic and the relationship with context.And,more remarkable,the research method of this article is to explore the essence of the Maxim of Relation based on the opposite side as Dan Sperber and Deirdre Susan Moir Wilson’s the Principle of Relevance(Relevance Theory).

A Study on the Implicatures in Chinese Advertising from the Perspective of Flouting the Maxims of Cooperative Principle

Advertising language is very critical in advertising and also contributes much to producing advertising effect. As one of the most important pragmatic principles, the Cooperative Principle (CP) is adopted much in linguistic researches. Also, by analyzing a large number of Chinese advertisements with CP, the author finds that it is common that advertisers try to generate implicatures by flouting the maxims of CP. This paper brings a clear look of the Cooperative Principle and its maxims. It also sheds new light on the interpretation of Chinese advertisements.

A Study of Question&Answer Behavior in EFL Teaching——On the Basis of Cooperative Principle

As an Chinese saying goes that"Nothing can be accomplished without norms or standards". Thus People always follow Cooperative Principle to produce successful conversations in daily life and the EFL teaching is of no exception. Teachers and students cooperate with each other in classroom while they sometimes flout the principle deliberately. An Analysis of the Reason Why Tess Loses Virginity from Her Conversations with Alec in Tess of the D'Urbervilles Based on the Cooperative Principle

Based on the Cooperative Principle, this paper aims to exploit the implicatures and reasons after violating related maxims in conversations that happens between Tess and Alec in Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and also aims to explain why Tess fails to protect herself and Alec succeeds in inducing Tess, Finally, It can be found that individual personality also contributes to Alec's success and Tess' s losing virginity. Besides, data collection and analysis are applied to provide deeper evidences.

《民法典》第1088条扩大了离婚家务劳动补偿制度的适用范围,具有正当性、合理性的理由以及价值基础。在法定夫妻共同财产制下,离婚时通过分割夫妻共同财产不能得到适当补偿的,家务劳动付出较多一方可主张家务劳动补偿。家务劳动补偿中的“负担较多义务”包括两种特定牺牲情形:一是抚养子女、照料老人;二是协助另一方工作。特定牺牲必须建立在家庭利益最大化的基础之上。在确定家务劳动补偿数额时可以综合考量家庭劳务的时间、投入家庭劳务的精力、劳务的效益、负担较多家庭义务一方的信赖利益等因素。体现不同价值目标的离婚救济三大制度中,离婚损害赔偿与离婚家务劳动补偿并不矛盾,也不冲突,应独立进行判断。如果损害赔偿或家务劳动补偿已经消除了原本“生活困难”的客观状况,则不能叠加适用离婚经济帮助制度。

Considerations on Grice's Maxim of Quality

The cooperative principle and its attendant maxims proposed by H.P.Grice have generally been regarded as guidelines on human communication.However,there seem to be much doubt on whether such an overarching principle and the four maxims are truly useful and essential within the linguistic field.The present essay represents an attempt to reconsider the maxim of quality by comparing it with the other maxims.The author also endeavours to cast light on its usefulness and essentiality.Compared with other maxims,the maxim of quality is found to be important and useful in that it guarantees the quality of the information on the one hand and sheds much light on the philosophical problem of Moore's paradox on the other hand.Nevertheless,it also faces serious challenges such as accusations of its defectiveness in accounting for instances of non-factual statements and language used in various figure of speech and loose talks.

Reliability analysis of retaining walls with multiple failure modes

In order to reduce the errors of the reliability of the retaining wall structure in the establishment of function, in the estimation of parameter and algorithm, firstly, two new reliability and stability models of anti-slipping and anti-overturning based on the upper-bound theory of limit analysis were established, and two kinds of failure modes were regarded as a series of systems with multiple correlated failure modes. Then, statistical characteristics of parameters of the retaining wall structure were inferred by maximal entropy principle. At last, the structural reliabilities of single failure mode and multiple failure modes were calculated by Monte Carlo method in MATLAB and the results were compared and analyzed on the sensitivity. It indicates that this method, with a high precision, is not only easy to program and quick in calculation, but also without the limit of nonlinear functions and non-normal random variables. And the results calculated by this method which applies both the limit analysis theory, maximal entropy principle and Monte Carlo method into analyzing the reliability of the retaining wall structures is more scientific, accurate and reliable, in comparison with those calculated by traditional method.

The Model of Neutrino Vacuum Flavour Oscillations and Quantum Mechanics

It is shown that the model of vacuum flavour oscillations is in disagreement with quantum mechanics theorems and postulates. Features of the model are analyzed. It is noted that apart from the number of mixed mass states neutrino oscillations is forbidden by Fock-Krylov theorem. A possible reason of oscillation model inadequacy is discussed.

A retrospective view on the history of natural sciences in XX-XXI

The presented paper is dedicated to a new ret-rospective view on the history of natural sci-ences in XX-XXI cc, partially including the sci-ence philosophy (mainly, the problems of the scientific realism, i.e. the correspondence of science to reality) and also a novel scheme for different classes of sciences with different ob-jects and paradigms. There are analyzed the chosen “great” and “grand” problems of phys-ics (including the comprehension of quantum mechanics, with a recently elaborated new chapter, connected with time as a quantum obs- ervable and time analysis of quantum processes) and also of natural sciences as a whole. The particular attention is paid to the interpretation questions and slightly to the aspects, inevitably connected with the world- views of the res- earchers (which do often constitute a part of the interpretation questions).

Meaning in the Holy Quran： A Text Analysis of the ＂Surah Livestock＂ （＂A1-An＇am＂） Within the Framework of Grice＇s Theory of Implicature

The Holy Quran （1982） is the Holy Book of the Moslems and the most understandable aspect of its eloquence. One of the most interesting aspects found in different languages is the use of implicatures or implied meaning. How and why such implicatures are generated and are discussed in pragmatics？ In this study, a list of conversations （direct and indirect） from ＂Surah Livestock＂ （＂A1-An＇am＂）, the sixth Chapter of the Holy Quran, and the implicatures implied in the conversations are analyzed through a pragmatic theory： CP （Cooperative Principle）. The present study shows that in most cases, the non-observance of Grice＇s （1975） maxims is found in the maxim of Quantity and the least in Manner. Grice＇s CP and its contributory maxims have not been observed in the ＂Surah Livestock＂ in this study. All maxims of Grice have been flouted in This Surah （1982） and there is no difference among Gricean maxims as far as flouting in the Surah is concerned.

Violating Cooperative Principle to Achieve Humorous Effect

Humor is a kind of literature that can be found everywhere in our daily life. It is also a kind of language art that can be created by various reasons. This essay will analyze humor from a knowledge of pragmatics—cooperative principle (CP) and show how the humorous effect achieved ascribed to the breaking the four maxims of the cooperative principle. It also provides a lot of examples to show how to achieve humorous effect by applying Grice’s cooperative principle. The creation of humor and violation of CP have close relationship. Violating CP in the surface may create humor. A better understanding about humor will be achieved under an analysis of CP. As a linguistic phenomenon, humor has its own charm. It’s good medicine,that can improve interpersonal relationships and make others feel comfortable.

A Sparse Kernel Approximate Method for Fractional Boundary Value Problems

In this paper,the weak pre-orthogonal adaptive Fourier decomposition(W-POAFD)method is applied to solve fractional boundary value problems(FBVPs)in the reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces(RKHSs)W_(0)^(4)[0,1] and W^(1)[0,1].The process of the W-POAFD is as follows:(i)choose a dictionary and implement the pre-orthogonalization to all the dictionary elements;(ii)select points in[0,1]by the weak maximal selection principle to determine the corresponding orthonormalized dictionary elements iteratively;(iii)express the analytical solution as a linear combination of these determined dictionary elements.Convergence properties of numerical solutions are also discussed.The numerical experiments are carried out to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of W-POAFD for solving FBVPs.

基于最大熵原理的小波去噪方法

小波变换去噪中最关键的问题是如何确定小波系数的阈值 ,使其能够将与噪声和信号相对应的小波系数合理地区分开来。根据概率论的基本原理可以推断 ,随机序列的细节小波变换系数符合正态分布。基于此结论 ,可以利用最大熵原理确定一个阈值 ,使得绝对值小于此阈值的小波系数组成的序列符合正态分布。该阈值在统计意义下能够最佳地区分信号与噪声的小波系数。采用光谱数据的仿真分析以及与其他方法的对比实验证明 ,这种最大熵小波去噪方法不仅在提高信噪比方面显示出了其优势 ,而且去噪效果不易受信噪比变化的影响。
