So the fault diagnosis by outside fault phenomena is considered. Based on the theory of fuzzy recognition and fault diagnosis, this method only depends on experience and statistical data to set up fuzzy query relationship between the outside phenomena (fault characters) and the fault sources (fault patterns). From this relationship the most probable fault sources can be obtained, to attain the goal of quick diagnosis. Based on the above approach, the standard fuzzy relationship matrix is stored in the computer as a system database. And experiment data are given to show the fault diagnosis results. The important parameters can be on line sampled and analyzed, and when faults occur, faults can be found, the alarm is given and the controller output is regulated.展开更多

For over forty years the standard estimates of the Flood St...Estimates of PMP are needed in order to estimate the spillway design flood for dams which must be capable of safely passing the probable maximum flood (PMF). For over forty years the standard estimates of the Flood Studies Report (FSR) have almost always been used. However, since then several studies have shown that these values are too low, and new estimates for South West England and then Britain were published. This paper extends these studies to include the whole of the British Isles. The study uses 6570 station years’ data in a new method of frequency analysis that identifies part of the data which represents the long term situation. Further analyses to support the results of this approach have been produced from the in situ maximisation of 12 historic storms using World Meteorological Organisation methods. The results are broadly consistent with those obtained from frequency analysis. Values of 24 hour PMP in Britain range from 600 mm in upland areas of the Lake District, to 400 mm in parts of East Anglia. This range of values is present in Wales and parts of South West England. For Ireland the highest values are over the upland areas, such as in the Wicklow Mountains (550 mm) and SW Ireland (600 mm), while in the lowlands values around 350 mm can be expected. The question of uncertainty in estimating PMP is considered, most of which is due to the temporal and spatial shortcomings of the data. The implications for the probable maximum flood (PMF) and spillway design flood mean that widespread reassessment of dam safety should be carried out at once.展开更多

In which, superimposed pilot scheme is adopted and an initial Channel State Information (CSI) is obtained by employing a first-order statistic. In each subsequent iteration, we propose two algorithms to update the CSI. The Mean Square Error (MSE) of channel estimation and Bit Error Rate (BER) performance are given and simulation results demonstrate that the iterative algorithm using method B has good perform-ance approaching the ideal condition.展开更多

Estimating the Probability Density Function(PDF) of the performance function is a direct way for structural reliability analysis,and the failure probability can be easily obtained by integration in the failure domai...Estimating the Probability Density Function(PDF) of the performance function is a direct way for structural reliability analysis,and the failure probability can be easily obtained by integration in the failure domain.However,efficiently estimating the PDF is still an urgent problem to be solved.The existing fractional moment based maximum entropy has provided a very advanced method for the PDF estimation,whereas the main shortcoming is that it limits the application of the reliability analysis method only to structures with independent inputs.While in fact,structures with correlated inputs always exist in engineering,thus this paper improves the maximum entropy method,and applies the Unscented Transformation(UT) technique to compute the fractional moments of the performance function for structures with correlations,which is a very efficient moment estimation method for models with any inputs.The proposed method can precisely estimate the probability distributions of performance functions for structures with correlations.Besides,the number of function evaluations of the proposed method in reliability analysis,which is determined by UT,is really small.Several examples are employed to illustrate the accuracy and advantages of the proposed method.展开更多
