The need for housing remains a...Housing and housing space has been a place for personal development, recreation and self accentuation. The need for housing and housing space quality can therefore not be overemphasized. The need for housing remains a constant index for all societies through the ages. Housing is a complex and heterogeneous product in its setting, the cognitive structures of housing users for housing attributes is also complex as well as their choice behaviors. Means-End Chain (MEC) model has been found to be very effective and potent in measuring these complexities. This conceptual paper explores from literature the MEC model and attempts to propagate its use as a research model for housing research, environment-behavior studies and person-environment congruence. It also presents the methodology employed by MEC for data collection and data management. It will suggest an extension to the traditional methodology that MEC utilizes. The possibility of extending the previous methods and their applicability in design process is herein presented; and to make a case for the usability of MEC model as a research tool for housing researchers. In dealing with user preference of housing, there is a need for research for a development of a technological tool for the identification of user needs and preference, and the kind of decision support that are required to identify these needs.展开更多
Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)have revolutionized the processes involved in industrial communication.However,the most important challenge faced by WSN sensors is the presence of limited energy.Multiple research inves-t...Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)have revolutionized the processes involved in industrial communication.However,the most important challenge faced by WSN sensors is the presence of limited energy.Multiple research inves-tigations have been conducted so far on how to prolong the energy in WSN.This phenomenon is a result of inability of the network to have battery powered-sensor terminal.Energy-efficient routing on packetflow is a parallel phenomenon to delay nature,whereas the primary energy gets wasted as a result of WSN holes.Energy holes are present in the vicinity of sink and it is an important efficient-routing protocol for WSNs.In order to solve the issues discussed above,an energy-efficient routing protocol is proposed in this study named as Adaptive Route Decision Sink Relocation Protocol using Cluster Head Chain Cycling approach(ARDSR-CHC2H).The proposed method aims at improved communica-tion at sink-inviting routes.At this point,Cluster Head Node(CHN)is selected,since it consumes low energy and permits one node to communicate with others in two groups.The main purpose of the proposed model is to reduce energy con-sumption and define new interchange technology.A comparison of simulation results demonstrates that the proposed algorithm achieved low cluster creation time,better network error and high Packet Delivery Rate with less network failure.展开更多
Hydrocracking is a catalytic reaction process in the petroleum refineries for converting the higher boiling temperature residue of crude oil into a lighter fraction of hydrocarbons such as gasoline and diesel. In this...Hydrocracking is a catalytic reaction process in the petroleum refineries for converting the higher boiling temperature residue of crude oil into a lighter fraction of hydrocarbons such as gasoline and diesel. In this study, a modified continuous lumping kinetic approach is applied to model the hydro-cracking of vacuum gas oil. The model is modified to take into consideration the reactor temperature on the reaction yield distribution. The model is calibrated by maximizing the likelihood function between the modeled and measured data at four different reactor temperatures. Bayesian approach parameter estimation is also applied to obtain the confidence interval of model parameters by considering the uncertainty associated with the measured errors and the model structural errors. Then Monte Carlo simulation is applied to the posterior range of the model parameters to obtain the 95% confidence interval of the model outputs for each individual fraction of the hydrocracking products. A good agreement is observed between the output of the calibrated model and the measured data points. The Bayesian approach based on the Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation is shown to be efficient to quantify the uncertainty associated with the parameter values of the continuous lumping model.展开更多

The Bayesian inversion method is a stochastic approach based on the Bayesian theory.With the development of sampling algorithms and computer technologies,the Bayesian inversion method has been widely used in geophysic...The Bayesian inversion method is a stochastic approach based on the Bayesian theory.With the development of sampling algorithms and computer technologies,the Bayesian inversion method has been widely used in geophysical inversion problems.In this study,we conduct inversion experiments using crosshole seismic travel-time data to examine the characteristics and performance of the stochastic Bayesian inversion based on the Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling scheme and the traditional deterministic inversion with Tikhonov regularization.Velocity structures with two different spatial variations are considered,one with a chessboard pattern and the other with an interface mimicking the Mohorovicicdiscontinuity(Moho).Inversions are carried out with different scenarios of model discretization and source–receiver configurations.Results show that the Bayesian method yields more robust single-model estimations than the deterministic method,with smaller model errors.In addition,the Bayesian method provides the posterior probabilistic distribution function of the model space,which can help us evaluate the quality of the inversion result.展开更多

Two cases,i.e., the isotropic Heisenberg(Ising-XXX) coupling model and anisotropic Heisenberg(Ising-XXZ) coupling model, are discussed respectively. The negativity is chosen as the measurement of the thermal entanglement. By means of the transfermatrix approach, we focus on the effects of biquadratic interaction parameters on the negativity of the infinite spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain. In the Ising-XXX coupling model, it is shown that for the case with ferromagnetic coupling the thermal entanglement can be induced by the biquadratic interaction, but the external magnetic field will suppress the occurrence of the entanglement induced by the biquadratic interaction. In the Ising-XXZ coupling model,for the case with antiferromagnetic coupling, due to the biquadratic interaction the effect of the anisotropy parameter on the entanglement will be suppressed at near-zero temperature. Moreover, the biquadratic interaction makes the threshold temperature increase. The effects of the external magnetic field on the thermal entanglement are also discussed, and it is observed that the entanglement revival phenomena exist in both models considered.展开更多

The heterotrimetallic coordination p...We investigate the teleportation of an entangled state via a couple of quantum channels, which are composed of a spin-1/2 Heisenberg dimer in two infinite Ising–Heisenberg chains. The heterotrimetallic coordination polymer CuⅡMnⅡ(L1)][FeⅢ(bpb)(CN)2]·ClO4·H2O(abbreviated as Fe–Mn–Cu) can be regarded as an actual material for this chain.We apply the transfer-matrix approach to obtain the density operator for the Heisenberg dimer and use the standard teleportation protocol to derive the analytical expression of the density matrix of the output state and the average fidelity of the entanglement teleportation. We study the effects of the temperature T, anisotropy coupling parameter △, Heisenberg coupling parameter J2 and external magnetic field h on the quantum channels. The results show that anisotropy coupling? and Heisenberg coupling J2 can favor the generation of the output concurrence and expand the scope of the successful average fidelity.展开更多
