Due to local uneven heating during the welding process,the residual stress of the structure after welding affects the reliability of it.In order to ensure the reliability,it is of great significance to test the residual stress distribution of the welded joint.It has always been the focus to find a simple and feasible method for residual stress testing to quickly and accurately obtain the residual stress distribution of welded joints.The mechanical measurement method has high measurement accuracy,convenient and easy operation,but it will cause certain damage to the components.Physical measurement method can avoid damage to components,but its test cost is usually high,and its measurement accuracy can also be affected by the material microstructure characteristics of welded components.Based on the advantages and disadvantages of these two residual stress test methods,a modal test method is proposed.This method is a non-destructive measurement method.Based on the mathematical relationship between the residual stress of the welded structure and the natural frequency(mathematical model),the natural frequency is measured through the modal test to calculate the residual stress quickly.However,it is difficult to establish a mathematical model with this method,and it is not suitable for realization. 展开更多

Desertification is one of the most serious environmental problems in the world,especially in the arid desert regions.Combating desertification,therefore,is an urgent task on a regional or even global scale.The Taklimakan Desert in China is the second largest mobile desert in the world and has been called the''Dead Sea''due to few organisms can exist in such a harsh environment.The Taklimakan Desert Highway,the longest desert highway(a total length of 446 km)across the mobile desert in the world,was built in the 1990s within the Taklimakan Desert.It has an important strategic significance regarding oil and gas resources exploration and plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of southern Xinjiang,China.However,wind-blow sand seriously damages the smoothness of the desert highway and,in this case,mechanical sand control system(including sand barrier fences and straw checkerboards)was used early in the life of the desert highway to protect the road.Unfortunately,more than 70%of the sand barrier fences and straw checkerboards have lost their functions,and the desert highway has often been buried and frequently blocked since 1999.To solve this problem,a long artificial shelterbelt with the length of 437 km was built along the desert highway since 2000.However,some potential problems still exist for the sustainable development of the desert highway,such as water shortage,strong sandstorms,extreme environmental characteristics and large maintenance costs.The study aims to provide an overview of the damages caused by wind-blown sand and the effects of sand control measures along the Taklimakan Desert Highway.Ultimately,we provide some suggestions for the biological sand control system to ensure the sustainable development of the Taklimakan Desert Highway,such as screening drought-resistant species to reduce the irrigation requirement and ensure the sound development of groundwater,screening halophytes to restore vegetation in the case of soil salinization,and planting cash crops,such as Cistanche,Wolfberry,Apocynum and other cash crops to decrease the high cost of maintenance on highways and shelterbelts. 展开更多

A fully superconducting electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source (SECRAL ID is currently being built in the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Its key components are three superconducting solenoids (Nb-Ti/Cu) and six superconducting sextupoles (Nb-Ti/Cu). Different from the conventional supercon- ducting ECR magnetic structure, the SEC17AL Ⅱ includes three superconducting solenoid coils' that are located inside the superconducting sextupoles. The SECRAL Ⅱ can significantly reduce the interaction forces between the sextupole and the solenoids, and the magnets can also be more compact in size. For this multi-component SECRAL Ⅱ generating its self field of -8 T and being often exposed to the high self field, the mechanical analysis has become the main issue to keep their stress at 〈200 MPa on coils. The analytical and experimental results in mechanics are presented in the SECRAL Ⅱ structure. To improve the accuracy and efficiency of analysis, according to the composite rule of micromechanics, the equivalent uniform windings are used to simulate the epoxy-impregnated Nb-Ti/Cu coils. In addition, using low temperature strain gauges and a wireless fast strain acquisition system, a fundamental experiment on the based on our analysis, the stresses and deformations optimized. strains developments of a sextupole is reported. The atomic force microscope(AFM)can measure nanoscale morphology and mechanical properties and has a wide range of applications.The traditional method for measuring the mechanical properties of a sample does so for the longitudinal and transverse properties separately,ignoring the coupling between them.In this paper,a data processing and multidimensional mechanical information extraction algorithm for the composite mode of peak force tapping and torsional resonance is proposed.On the basis of a tip–sample interaction model for the AFM,longitudinal peak force data are used to decouple amplitude and phase data of transverse torsional resonance,accurately identify the tip–sample longitudinal contact force in each peak force cycle,and synchronously obtain the corresponding characteristic images of the transverse amplitude and phase.Experimental results show that the measured longitudinal mechanical characteristics are consistent with the transverse amplitude and phase characteristics,which verifies the effectiveness of the method.Thus,a new method is provided for the measurement of multidimensional mechanical characteristics using the AFM. 展开更多

The next, by fitting the measured data, the boundary forces that influenced the distribution of the stress field in this region has been studied using inversion method. The inversion results showed the following messages: the effect of the boundary force between the blocks is the main determinative factor for the recent tectonic stress field in Shanxi and the regional material and its property is a secondary factor; the horizontal main stress of tectonic stress field in Shanxi region is consistent with the stretch of fault basins. 展开更多

The quality of these components and processing efficiency are closely linked to the performance of cutting tools. Therefore, it is essential and critical to inspect the cutting tools and monitor the condition during the stage of manufacturing and machining. This review aims to discuss and summarize the key problems, methods,and techniques from the perspective of the tool geometric and the physical quantities measurement,including machine vision, physical sensors and data processing. It is worth mentioning that we focus on the topic of precision measurement methods and discuss universal solutions by identifying the common characteristics of the measured quantities. Eventually, the challenges and future trends for the development of in-depth research and practical applications are concluded. Measurement-Based Admission Control (MBAC) algorithms, as opposed to the more conservative worst-case parameter-based approach, are expressly designed to achieve high levels of network utilization for the controlled-load service, a real-time service with very relaxed service guarantee. Most researchers studying MBAC algorithms (MBAC's) have focused primarily on the design of the Admission Control Equations (ACE's) using a variety of principled and ad hoc motivations. In this paper, we prove theoretically that the ACE's, even though derived and motivated in quite different ways, are equivalent by tuning the adjustable parameters of MBAC's. We also use simulations to confirm our work. The simulation results show that MBAC's may have the same utilization for a given packet loss rate through tuning the relevant parameters. 展开更多

Rubber compounds based on styrene-butadiene rubber/ethylene propylene diene monomer blends of different compositions (60/40, 70/30, 80/20, 90/10, 100/0) reinforced with 1 wt%, 3 wt%, 5 wt% and 7 wt% organoclay (Cloisite 20A) were prepared on a two roll mill via a vulcanization process and characterized by several techniques. Results of X-ray diffraction showed expansion of the inter-gallery distance, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) micrographs confirmed that the prepared nanocomposite samples have intercalated and partially exfoliated structures. Cure characteristics showed that, organoclay not only accelerates the vulcanization reaction, but also gives rise to a marked increase of the torque, indicating crosslink density of the prepared compounds increases at the presence of organoclay. Mechanical properties of samples received markedly increase by clay loading due to the good interaction established between nanoclay particles and polymer matrix as it was evidenced by SEM photomicrographs. At the same time, rheological properties showed that addition of nanoclay could improve storage modulus as well as complex viscosity of SBR/EPDM samples. The results of ozone test revealed that the ozone resistance of samples significantly increases as nanoclay or EPDM content increases. 展开更多

The study revealed the development of cost effective technology utilized as a practical tool for treatment of seasonal torrent and addressing erosion problems and land use planning.Technology was implemented in a small agricultural watershed located in foot hill of Shivalik,India,to assess its prediction capacity of runoff,peak runoff flow and sediment yield.Cost effective technology was evaluated at the event scale by using a database of hydrological,geomorphologic and land use data collected during a two-year period.In the catchment,the gullies which are small to medium in size were treated with gully plugging by erecting loose boulder check dams and erected with different species of plants.Different types of spur were constructed with vegetative reinforcement for channelization of stream flow.The sediments deposited in the first year at downstream was recorded 0.09-81.0 tons,while in the second year it was reduced up to 0.07-16.7 tons.Similarly,up stream sediment deposition was recorded 1.0-72.0 tons and 0.37-13.1 tons in two consecutive years.The D-50 analysis of sediment deposited was carried in three different places of torrent and it was found that deposited particle size material decreased after treatment undertaken in the torrent bed.Therefore,the mechanical as well as vegetative measures helped in the channelization of water course towards the central line with the tune of 10-100 m,stabilization of torrent bed and reclamation of degraded land. 展开更多

On the basis of oblique towing tests and flow visualizations of ship models, the flow pattern around a high-speed transom-stern ship, its motion attitudes (sinkage and trim) and the characteristics of hydrodynamic forces are analysed. It is concluded that the variation of ship motion attitudes, caused by ship speed, has a great influence over the coefficients of hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on the oblique running ship. Ship attitudes related to different speed and drift angles are calculated by Hess-Smith method. By distributing complex singularities over the surface of a double model and by considering separated vortex sheets in the wake at the lee side of the model, pressures and velocities of the fluid around the model may be calculated directly by solving a three-dimensional body with lift problem. The transom stern stream-lines are extended to form a virtual length. In this way, the hydrodynamic lateral forces, yaw moments and pressure distribution are calculated. The results show good agreement with those measured from model tests. 展开更多

Understanding solid‐and fluid‐inertia forces and their coupling with the gravity potential in complex motion scenarios is necessary for evaluating system stability and identifying root causes of system failure and accidents.Because solids and fluids have an infinite number of degrees of freedom and distributed inertia and elasticity,having meaningful qualitative and quantitative nominal measures of the kinematics and forces will contribute to a better understanding of the system dynamics.This paper proposes developing new continuum‐based nominal measures for the characterization of the oscillations and forces.By using a material‐point approach,these new nominal measures,which have their roots in the continuum‐mechanics partial‐differential equations of equilibrium and Frenet geometry,are independent of the formulation or generalized coordinates used to develop the dynamic equations of motion.The paper proposes a data‐driven‐science approach to define a nominal continuum space‐curve geometry with nominal curvature and torsion;a nominal instantaneous motion plane(IMP),which contains the resultant of all forces including the inertia forces;and a nominal instantaneous zero‐force axis(IZFA)along which the resultant of all forces vanishes.While using the material‐point approach eliminates the need for introducing moment equations associated with orientation coordinates,the IMP and IZFA concepts can be used to define the instantaneous axis of significant moment components,which can lead to accidents such as in the case of vehicle rollovers. 展开更多
