By modeling metal as a special piezoelectric material with extremely small piezoelectricity and extremely large permittivity, we have obtained the analytical solutions for an interracial permeable crack in metal/piezoelectric bimaterials by means of the generalized Stroh formalism. The analysis shows that the stress fields near a permeable interracial crack tip are usually with three types of singularities: r^-1/2±iε and r^-1/2. Further numerical calculation on the oscillatory index ε are given for 28 types of metal/piezoelectric bimaterials combined by seven commercial piezoelectric materials: PZT-4, BaTiO3, PZT-5H, PZT-6B, PZT-7A, P-7 and PZT-PIC 151 and four metals: copper, silver, lead and aluminum, respectively. The explicit expressions of the crack tip energy release rate (ERR) and the crack tip generalized stress intensity factors (GSIF) are obtained. It is found that both the ERR and GSIF are independent of the electric displacement loading, although they seriously depends on the mechanical loadings. 展开更多

Effect of Reinforcement Clustering on Crack Initiation Mechanism in a Cast Hybrid Metal Matrix Composite during Low Cycle Fatigue 被引量:1

The reinforcement distribution of metal matrix composites (MMCs) plays an important role in low cycle fatigue. Thus, it is essential to study the effect of reinforcement clustering on the crack initiation mechanism of MMCs. In this study, the effect of reinforcement clustering on the microcrack initiation mechanism in a cast hybrid MMC reinforced with SiC particles and Al2O3 whiskers was investigated experimentally and numerically. Experimental results showed that microcracks always initiated in the particle-matrix interface, located in the cluster of the reinforcements. The interface debonding occurred in the fracture which created additional secondary microcracks due to continued fatigue cycling. The microcrack coalesced with other nearby microcracks caused the final fracture. To validate the experimental results on the microcrack initiation, three dimensional unit cell models using finite element method (FEM) were developed. The stress distribution in both the reinforcement clustering and non-clustering regions was analyzed. The numerical analysis showed that high stresses were developed on the reinforcements located in the clustering region and stress concentration occurred on the particle-matrix interface. The high volume fraction reinforced hybrid clustering region experienced greater stresses than that of the SiC particulate reinforced clustering region and low volume fraction reinforced hybrid clustering region. Besides, the stresses developed on the non-clustering region with particle-whisker series orientation were reasonably higher than that of the non-clustering region with particle-whisker parallel orientation. The high volume fraction reinforced hybrid clustering region is found to be highly vulnerable to initiate crack in cast hybrid MMC during low cycle fatigue. 展开更多

It is suggested that a dynamic recovery occurred around the prepared crack tip even at a low explosion pressure (5 GPa) because of the stress and strain concentration at the crack tip when shock waves pass through. This result supports the previous work on the improved mechanical properties of a shock treated welded joint with residual crack from the viewpoint of microstructure. 展开更多

Crack growth rate curves are the fundamental material property for metal structures under fatigue loading. Although there are many crack growth rate curves available in the literature, few of them showed the capability to explain various special phenomena observed in tests. A modified constitutive relation recently proposed by McEvily and his co-workers showed very promising capability. This modified constitutive relation is further generalized by (1) introducing an unstable fracture condition; (2) defining a virtual strength to replace the yield stress; and (3) defining an overload and underload parameter. The performances of this general constitutive relation for fatigue crack growth is extensively studied and it is found that this general constitutive relation is able to explain various phenomena observed with particular strong capability on load sequence effect. 展开更多

To determine the solutions of the well-known problem of a finite width strip with single edge crack,some results on elasto-plastic fracture analysis for metallic foams are reported.Meanwhile,in order to discuss and put an insight into the nonlinear fracture analysis,the Dugdale model for plastic deformation of this configuration for metallic foams is recommended and solved.Combining the asymptotic solution with the Dugdale model and elastic solution,the stress field in the plastic zone and the size of the plastic zone are expressed as analytical forms.Based on Williams expansion method,the estimate of the scale factor is also completed and analyzed.In view of these analytical solutions,the results show the scale factor is a useful parameter for the fracture theory of metallic foams. 展开更多

The susceptibilities of the three aluminum alloys to solidification crack were studied with trans-varestraint tests and tensile tests at elevated temperature. Their metallurgical characteristics, morphologies of the fractured surface and dynamic cracking behaviors at elevated temperature were analyzed with a series of micro-analysis methods. The results show that dynamic cracking models can be classified into three types. The first model has the healing effect which is called type A. The second is the one with deformation and breaking down of metal bridge, called type B. The last one is with the separation of liquid film along grain boundary, called type C. Moreover, the strain rate has different effects on crack susceptibility of aluminum alloys with different cracking models. ZL101 and 5083 alloys belong to type A and type C cracking model respectively, in which strain rate has greater effect on eutectic healing and plastic deformation of metal bridge. 6082 alloy is type B cracking model in which the strain rate has little effect on the deformation ability of the liquid film. 展开更多

This new binder possessed abundant meso/macropores, good hydrothermal stability and heavy metal resistance. The prepared catalyst using new binder featured low attrition index and large pore volume. The catalysts were contaminated with Ni, V, and tested in a fixed-fluidized bed reactor unit. In comparison with the reference sample, the oil conversion achieved by the above-mentioned catalyst increased by 3.50 percentage points, and heavy oil yield decreased by 2.86 percentage points, while the total liquid yield and light oil yield increased by 2.82 percentage points and 0.79 percentage points, respectively. The perfect pore structure, good hydrothermal stability and heavy metal resistant performance of new binder were the possible causes leading to its outstanding performance. 展开更多

Size evolution of the surface short fatigue cracks of lCrl8Ni'9Ti weld metal was investigated. A local viewpoint is applied to be agreement with a so-called 'effectively short fatigue crack criterion'. Attention was paid to the dominant effectively short fatigue crack (DESFC) initiation zone and the zones ahead of the DESFC tips. The results revealed that the evolutionary size shows a significant character of microstructural short crack (MSC) and physical short crack (PSC) stages. In the MSC stage, fatigue damage is due to mainly the initiation and irregular growth of the effectively short fatigue cracks (ESFCs). In the PSC stage, the damage is conversely due to mainly the DESFC growth and partially, the growth of the ESFCs and the coalescence of the ESFCs themselves with the DESFC. The process involves from a non-ordered/chaotic state in the initiation of MSC stage, gradually to an independently random state at the transition point between the MSC and PSC stages and then, to an ordered/history-dependent random state. Interactive effect of the collective cracks is stronger and shows an increase in the MSC stage, it reaches a maximum value at the transition point and then, tends to a decrease in the PSC stage. The DESFC acts as a result of the interactive cracks and thus, is deemed suitable to describe the behaviour of collective cracks. 展开更多

飞机结构损伤导波在线监测技术作为一种新颖的无损检测手段,为了真正实现该技术在结构运营维护过程中的视情维护,必须明确其结构损伤检出概率(probability of detection,POD),以指导结构检查维修方案的制定。提出了一种基于信号响应分... 飞机结构损伤导波在线监测技术作为一种新颖的无损检测手段,为了真正实现该技术在结构运营维护过程中的视情维护,必须明确其结构损伤检出概率(probability of detection,POD),以指导结构检查维修方案的制定。提出了一种基于信号响应分析模型的结构损伤导波POD计算方法,该方法通过构建在线导波监测信号的损伤指数与裂纹长度间的对应关系,得到结构损伤POD的统计计算模型,并分析了拟合参数的不确定性对计算模型的影响,构建了不同置信度下的导波POD计算模型。通过开展金属开孔和搭接结构疲劳裂纹导波监测试验,验证了该方法的有效性。试验结果表明,损伤指数类型、对应关系拟合函数和传感器监测方案均对结构损伤导波POD具有影响,且在95%置信度90%POD下金属开孔和搭接结构的可检裂纹长度分别约为2.6 mm和9.5 mm。 展开更多

对接焊缝为典型的钢结构焊缝形式,其位置处的裂纹和气孔型缺陷的准确检测对于钢结构维护有着重要的意义,使用磁记忆检测技术对焊缝裂纹和气孔型缺陷进行定位时,传统的零点极值理论由于焊接残余应力的影响,难以区分残余应力、焊接裂纹和... 对接焊缝为典型的钢结构焊缝形式,其位置处的裂纹和气孔型缺陷的准确检测对于钢结构维护有着重要的意义,使用磁记忆检测技术对焊缝裂纹和气孔型缺陷进行定位时,传统的零点极值理论由于焊接残余应力的影响,难以区分残余应力、焊接裂纹和气孔型缺陷所产生的磁信号,从而在实际检测中造成缺陷定位的误判和漏判,因此,从焊接裂纹和气孔型缺陷和残余应力所在区域磁信号产生机理的不同入手,开展考虑残余应力影响下的焊接裂纹和气孔型缺陷定位检测研究。首先对焊接残余应力与裂纹和气孔型缺陷产生磁信号的机理进行分析,提出采用三维磁模量梯度极值判定方式来区分残余应力与裂纹和气孔型缺陷产生的磁信号;其次再进行焊接缺陷有限元COMSOL模拟,将所得磁信号代入梯度极值特征公式中进行表征判断;最后为了验证模拟表征判断的准确性,人工制作焊接钢板,提取三维磁信号进行分析。研究结果表明,理论分析、数值模拟与试验结果相互吻合,三维磁模量梯度极值能定位焊接缺陷并定量表征缺陷的长度,且裂纹和气孔型的三维磁模量梯度值远远高于无缺陷残余应力区域的梯度值。 展开更多

裂缝检测对钢结构和混凝土建筑、核电、航空等领域具有重要实际意义。本文采用谐振式同轴探头构造微波显微镜开展了金属和非金属裂缝的无损检测方法研究。首先,通过电磁仿真研究了耦合间隙、提离高度和探头材质等关键参数对检测性能的... 裂缝检测对钢结构和混凝土建筑、核电、航空等领域具有重要实际意义。本文采用谐振式同轴探头构造微波显微镜开展了金属和非金属裂缝的无损检测方法研究。首先,通过电磁仿真研究了耦合间隙、提离高度和探头材质等关键参数对检测性能的影响。然后,以机加工黄铜、铝合金样品和3D打印非金属样品进行了实验验证。结果表明:同轴探头在谐振频率处的S11幅度可用于材料表面裂缝的无损检测,耦合间隙、提离高度是影响检测灵敏度的主要设计参数;相比于传统的反射型同轴探头,谐振式探头检测灵敏度(有无裂缝时观测频点处的S11幅度差)提高了约20~30倍;针对金属样品的宽3.9 mm裂缝的仿真与实测结果吻合良好,裂缝宽度检测的相对误差<7.7%,且对于裂缝宽度为1.7 mm的3D打印非金属裂缝样品,其裂缝宽度实测相对误差在6%内。本研究对金属和非金属裂缝的无损检测具有一定借鉴意义。 展开更多

镍基焊材52M因具有优异的抗晶间腐蚀性和耐蚀性,被广泛应用在核电站关键部位的焊接。通过焊条电弧焊用焊材52M焊接低合金钢SA508Gr.3Cl.2和镍基Inconel690合金。结合光学显微镜和扫描电子显微镜分析熔合边界附近的微观组织、成分分布及... 镍基焊材52M因具有优异的抗晶间腐蚀性和耐蚀性,被广泛应用在核电站关键部位的焊接。通过焊条电弧焊用焊材52M焊接低合金钢SA508Gr.3Cl.2和镍基Inconel690合金。结合光学显微镜和扫描电子显微镜分析熔合边界附近的微观组织、成分分布及析出相,探究其对熔敷金属内裂纹形成及硬度变化的影响。结果表明:隔离层熔合边界附近形成Ⅰ型边界、Ⅱ型边界、半岛状组织及岛状组织;S、Nb、Mo元素在局部晶界偏析发生共晶反应引起液化,进而导致在熔敷金属中形成少量结晶裂纹;由于Nb、Mo、Cr等元素的固溶强化作用,熔敷金属的显微硬度略高于两侧母材。 展开更多

为实现单结构谐振器对金属裂纹参数的无损检测,设计了一款同时检测裂纹宽度及方向的无芯片射频识别(CRFID)金属裂纹传感器。将圆形、切角矩形谐振器一体化设计,利用HFSS有限元分析软件对传感器进行结构优化与性能仿真。深层次探究了不... 为实现单结构谐振器对金属裂纹参数的无损检测,设计了一款同时检测裂纹宽度及方向的无芯片射频识别(CRFID)金属裂纹传感器。将圆形、切角矩形谐振器一体化设计,利用HFSS有限元分析软件对传感器进行结构优化与性能仿真。深层次探究了不同裂纹缺陷下传感器雷达散射截面(RCS)的响应特征。结果表明金属结构的裂纹方向和裂纹宽度可以通过传感器谐振频率的变化进行识别。双极化下RCS幅频特性的频偏方向对应裂纹的方向,而频偏量与裂纹宽度成正比。设计的CRFID传感器能够检测0°水平方向、90°竖直方向、45°或135°斜向等三类方向下的亚毫米宽度裂纹,其中裂纹宽度检测灵敏度最高可达43.5MHz/0.1mm。 展开更多
