By analyzing the terahertz waveguide proposed in this paper, we can obtain that it is the characteristic of a low transmission loss coefficient (αloss 0.55 dB/m) for fundamental mode (LP01) when the incident frequency is larger than 3.0 THz. The critical radii of the inside and outside cylinders have been found for the high-quality transmission. The large inside radius and the high transmission frequency result in a fiat transmission loss coefficient curve. As a strictly two-dimensional material, the double graphene surface rings perform better to improve the quality of transmission mode. These results provide a new idea for the research of the long-distance THz waveguide.展开更多

The parameters describing the waveguide discontinuities in disc-loaded waveguide are calculated by the variational method. Then the dispersion characteristics of slow-wave structures are obtained using lossless microwave quadrupole theory. Good agreement was observed between results of the Variational method and those of field matching method and high frequency structure simulator. In the case of broad band, results of the variational method are better than those of field matching method.展开更多

By comparison with TEM observation, the annealing behaviours of photoluminescence (PL) emission and optical loss were found to have relation to the structure and morphology. The increase of PL intensity and optical loss above 800℃ might result from the crystallization of amorphous Al2O3 films. Based on the study on the structure and morphology, a rate equation propagation model of a multilevel system was used to calculate the optical gains of Er-doped Al2O3 planar waveguide amplifiers involving the variation of PL efficiency and optical loss with annealing temperature. It was found that the amplifiers had an optimized optical gain at the temperature corresponding to the minimum of optical loss, rather than at the temperature corresponding to the maximum of PL efficiency, suggesting that the optical loss is a key factor for determining the optical gain of an Er-doped Al2O3 planar waveguide amplifier.展开更多

Based on the fact that the bandwidth limitation of TSA mainly depends on its feeding structure, an improved CPW-based feed structure etched on the backboard of the BTSA is adopted to perform traveling-wave transition. Both the simulation results and measurement data verify that the proposed feeding structure results in "high-pass" frequency response for antenna impedance matching. It is found that all photonic bands are wide bands when the MRWL is integer. If the integer attribute of MRWL is broken, narrow bands will be created from the wide band near the centre of band structure. For two-segment-connected networks and three-segment-connected networks, it obtains a series of formulae of the band number and width. On the other hand, it proposes a so-called concept of two-segment-connected quantum subsystem and uses it to discuss the complexity of the band structures of QMNs. Based on these formulae, one can dominate the number, width and position of photonic bands within designed frequencies by adjusting the NCWS and MRWL. There would be potential applications for designing optical switches, optical narrow-band filters, dense wavelength-division-multiplexing devices and other correlative waveguide network devices.展开更多

Expressions of dispersion characteristics, normalized phase velocity and interaction impedance of this structure are derived and numerically calculated. The calculated results using our theory agree well with those obtained by using the 3D electromagnetic simulation software HFSS. Influences of the ridge-loaded area and broad-wall dimensions on the high frequency characteristics of the novel slow-wave structure are discussed. It is shown that the folded double-ridged waveguide structure has a much wider relative passband than the folded waveguide slow-wave structure and a relative passband of 67% could be obtained, indicating that this structure can operate in broad-band frequency ranges of beam-wave interaction. The small signal gain property is investigated for ensuring the improvement of bandwidth. Meanwhile, with comparable dispersion characteristics, the transverse section dimension of this novel structure is much smaller than that of conventional one, which indicates an available way to reduce the weight of traveling-wave tube.展开更多

The heading angle φ, waveguide invariant β and r0/v(r0 is the range of the closest point of approach and v is the navigating velocity of target) are estimated by using Hough transform for the image processing of the LOFARgram and bearing-time records. Four passive ranging algorithms based on double element or double array model are proposed. The simulation research shows that the first positioning algorithm should be adopted when the target heading angle is less than 10°; otherwise, the latter three algorithms are used to range, and the larger the heading angle is, the higher the positioning accuracy is. The relative ranging errors of the four methods are less than 10% under the simulation conditions used in this paper.展开更多

In this model calculated are only the potential modes of a unit cell, which is a high-index ring in the low-index background for this fibre, rather than the whole cladding periodic structure based on Bloch's theorem to find the bandgap. Its accuracy is proved by comparing its results with the results obtained by using the accurate full-vector plane-wave method. High speed in computation is its great advantage over the other exact methods, because it only needs to find the roots of one-dimensional analytical expressions. And the results of this model, mode plots, offer an ideal environment to explore the basic properties of photonie bandgap clearly.展开更多

The proposed terahertz hybrid-cladding hollow waveguide comprises one air core in the center surrounding MMW surrounded dielectric. The central air core is used for filling lossless measurands and transmitting terahertz light. In particular, the refractive index sensing is realized by measuring the mode field area(MFA) variation of radially polarized mode. The modal effective refractive index, mode field intensity distribution, and mode field area properties responding to the measurand refractive indexes for different operating frequencies and structure dimensions are investigated, respectively.Simulations show that the proposed terahertz refractive index sensor can realize easily the measurement of the measurand refractive index. 文摘By means of the network equation and generalized dimensionless Floquet-Bloch theorem, this paper investigates the properties of the band number and width for quadrangular multiconnected networks (QMNs) with a different number of connected waveguide segments (NCWSs) and various matching ratio of waveguide length (MRWL). There would be potential applications for designing optical switches, optical narrow-band filters, dense wavelength-division-multiplexing devices and other correlative waveguide network devices.

文摘The folded double-ridged waveguide structure is presented and its properties used for wide-band traveling-wave tube are investigated. Meanwhile, with comparable dispersion characteristics, the transverse section dimension of this novel structure is much smaller than that of conventional one, which indicates an available way to reduce the weight of traveling-wave tube.

文摘The sea-trial results indicate that the stable interference structure can be observed in low-frequency continuous spectra sound field. And the equation of the interference striation have been derived in light of the comcept of waveguide invariant, indicating that the striations are a family of quasi hyperbolas. The relative ranging errors of the four methods are less than 10% under the simulation conditions used in this paper.

文摘A simple model for approximate bandgap structure calculation of all-solid photonic bandgap fibre based on an array of rings is proposed. And the results of this model, mode plots, offer an ideal environment to explore the basic properties of photonie bandgap clearly.

文摘We propose a design of terahertz refractive index sensing based on the multi-metal-wire(MMW) hybrid-cladding hollow waveguide. Meanwhile, the effects of operating frequency and structure parameters on sensitivity and measurement accuracy are also studied. In view of the trade-off between sensitivity and measurement accuracy, the reasonable choice of the operating frequency and structure parameters can optimize appropriately the sensitivity and measurement accuracy, and the sensitivity can reach approximately 0.585 mm^2/RIU(RIU is short for refraction index units) with the proper frequency and structure parameter.

文摘An electro-optical switch based on a plasmonic T-shaped waveguide structure with a double-teeth-shaped waveguide filled with 4-dimethylamino-N-methyl-4-stilbazolium tosylate is proposed and numerically investigated. The Finite-difference time domain simulation results reveal that the structure can operate as a circuit switch by controlling the external voltages V1 and/or V_(2).The proposed structure can also operate as a variable optical attenuator, which can continuously attenuate the power of a light beam from 6 dB to 30 dB by an external electrical field. The structure is of small size of a few hundred nanometers. Our results may open a possibility to construct nanoscale high-density photonic integration circuits.

文摘This article introduces the design theory of ceramic waveguide filter and proposes a new type of negative coupling structure with a conical throughhole, which has fine-adjustment of negative coupling without significantly increasing the insertion loss of the filter.Based on this, the article proposes an eightcavity ceramic waveguide filter design for 5G base stations. It also presents a detailed discussion on the influence of the cross-coupling slot lengths L2 and L4 on the transmission zeros positions during the filter optimization process and the relevant change rules. For the proposed optimized filter, the observed performance indicators include the center frequency of 3.5 GHz,working bandwidth of 200 MHz,an insertion loss of≤2.0 dB,return loss of≥19 dB,and out-of-band nearend suppression and out-of-band far-end suppression of≥39 dB and≥63 dB,respectively. The test performance results obtained for the sample, with structural parameters as per the simulation model, were in good agreement with the simulation results.
