In order to quantitatively describe the difference of optimum active and inert ratio of various metamorphic grade coking coals, the rule of coke micro-strength index (MSI), determinated by adding different proportions of inert content to ten kinds of single coal, changing with active and inert ratio has been investigated. Three kinds of change rule of the MSI of ten kinds of single coal changing with active and inert ratio have been obtained in the research. It has been demonstrated that Gauss curve model is the optimal model to describe the optimum active and inert ratio of different metamorphic grade coals. On this basis, the optimum active and inert ratio of different metamorphic grade coals can be given. 展开更多

In this study, we selected 9 typical coal samples with different metamorphic grades as the study subjects,measured their initial 30-min gas desorption at 30℃ and different pressure using a self-developed gas adsorption/desorption device. Based on the characteristics of gas desorption from coal samples, we proposed a direct fitting method for measurement of gas content in coalbed, analyzed the effects of sampling time on the measurement results and determined the reasonable sampling time of coal samples with different metamorphic grades at different gas adsorption pressure at equilibrium. The results show that (1)the error of gas contents obtained using the direct fitting method relative to that obtained using indirect method is less than 10%, which meets the actual on-site requirements and verifies the feasibility of the direct fitting method;(2) when the relative error is controlled within ±10%, the reasonable sampling time of coal samples is linearly related to the gas adsorption pressure at equilibrium;(3) the reasonable sampling time of coal samples with the same metamorphic grade exhibits a shortening trend with increasing gas adsorption pressure at equilibrium;(4) for coal samples with similar gas adsorption pressure at equilibrium, the reasonable sampling time of coal samples displays a shortening trend with increasing metamorphic grade. Overall, the study provides a basis for improving the measurement accuracy of gas content in coalbed. 展开更多

Based on analysis on X-ray diffraction, the metamorphic grade of coal in southeast Qinshui Basin was discussed, and a precise evaluation of coal rank through XRD analysis was made, in addition, the correlation of coal rank and vitrinite reflectance (Ro) was compared. XRD spectra of coal shows (002)-band and γ-band, and based on fitting calculation and multi-peak separation methods, the values of 2θ002 and 2θγ can be obtained, as well as corresponding intensities I002 and Iγ, consequently the coal rank can be quantized as the ratio of I002 and Iγ, that is coal rank=I002/Iγ. The research shows that the values of θ002 and θγ increase with the metamorphic grade, and a very good linear positive correlation exists between calculated Coal Rank and Ro. 展开更多
