In this method, the rGF is defined on a set of random states and is efficiently calculated by projecting onto Krylov subspace. With the rGF method, the Fermi–Dirac operator can be obtained directly, avoiding the polynomial expansion to Fermi–Dirac function. To demonstrate the applicability, we implement the rGF method with the density-functional tight-binding method. It is shown that the Krylov subspace can maintain at small size for materials with different gaps at zero temperature, including H_(2)O and Si clusters. We find with a simple deflation technique that the rGF self-consistent calculation of H_(2)O clusters at T = 0 K can reach an error of~ 1 me V per H_(2)O molecule in total energy, compared to deterministic calculations. The rGF method provides an effective stochastic method for large-scale electronic structure simulation.展开更多

Firstly, considering environmental perturbation, Gaussian whitenoise and Gaussian colored noise are introduced into a tumor growth model under immune surveillance. Asfollows, the long-time evolution of the tumor characterized by the Stationary Probability Density (SPD) and MFPTis obtained in theory on the basis of the Approximated Fokker-Planck Equation (AFPE). Herein the recurrenceof the tumor from the extinction state to the tumor-present state is more concerned in this paper. A moreefficient algorithmof Back-Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) is utilized in order to testify the correction of thetheoretical SPDandMFPT.With the existence of aweak signal, the functional relationship between Signal-to-NoiseRatio (SNR), noise intensities and correlation time is also studied. Numerical results show that both multiplicativeGaussian colored noise and additive Gaussian white noise can promote the extinction of the tumors, and themultiplicative Gaussian colored noise can lead to the resonance-like peak on MFPT curves, while the increasingintensity of the additiveGaussian white noise results in theminimum of MFPT. In addition, the correlation timesare negatively correlated with MFPT. As for the SNR, we find the intensities of both the Gaussian white noise andthe Gaussian colored noise, as well as their correlation intensity can induce SR. Especially, SNR is monotonouslyincreased in the case ofGaussian white noisewith the change of the correlation time.At last, the optimal parametersin BPNN structure are analyzed for MFPT from three aspects: the penalty factors, the number of neural networklayers and the number of nodes in each layer.展开更多

The cumulative method is being adapted to the purposes of computation, particularly multiplication and division. The operations of multiplication and division are represented by algebraic formulas. An advantage of the method is that the cumulative process can be performed on decimal numbers. The present paper aims to establish a basic and useful formula valid for the two fundamental arithmetic operations of multiplication and division. The new cumulative method proved to be more flexible and made it possible to extend the multiplication and division based on repeated addition/subtraction to decimal numbers.展开更多

文摘Applying numerical simulation technology to investigate fluid-solid interaction involving complex curved bound-aries is vital in aircraft design, ocean, and construction engineering. However, current methods such as Lattice Boltzmann(LBM)and the immersion boundary method based on solid ratio(IMB)have limitations in identifying custom curved boundaries.Meanwhile,IBM based on velocity correction(IBM-VC)suffers from inaccuracies and numerical instability. Therefore, this study introduces a high-accuracy curve boundary recognition method(IMB-CB),which identifies boundary nodes by moving the search box,and corrects the weighting function in LBM by calculating the solid ratio of the boundary nodes, achieving accurate recognition of custom curve boundaries. In addition, curve boundary image and dot methods are utilized to verify IMB-CB.The findings revealed that IMB-CB can accurately identify the boundary, showing an error of less than 1.8%with 500 lattices. Also, the flow in the custom curve boundary and aerodynamic characteristics of the NACA0012 airfoil are calculated and compared to IBM-VC.Results showed that IMB-CB yields lower lift and drag coefficient errors than IBM-VC,with a 1.45%drag coefficient error. In addition, the characteristic curve of IMB-CB is very stable, whereas that of IBM-VC is not.For the moving boundary problem,LBM-IMB-CB with discrete element method(DEM)is capable of accurately simulating the physical phenomena of multi-moving particle flow in complex curved pipelines. This research proposes a new curve boundary recognition method, which can significantly promote the stability and accuracy of fluid-solid interaction simulations and thus has huge applications in engineering.

文摘Additive Runge-Kutta methods designed for preserving highly accurate solutions in mixed-precision computation were previously proposed and analyzed. These specially designed methods use reduced precision for the implicit computations and full precision for the explicit computations. In this work,we analyze the stability properties of these methods and their sensitivity to the low-precision rounding errors, and demonstrate their performance in terms of accuracy and efficiency. We develop codes in FORTRAN and Julia to solve nonlinear systems of ODEs and PDEs using the mixed-precision additive Runge-Kutta(MP-ARK)methods.The convergence, accuracy, and runtime of these methods are explored. We show that for a given level of accuracy, suitably chosen MP-ARK methods may provide significant reductions in runtime.

文摘In this paper,we explore bound preserving and high-order accurate local discontinuous Galerkin(LDG)schemes to solve a class of chemotaxis models, including the classical Keller-Segel(KS)model and two other density-dependent problems. We use the convex splitting method, the variant energy quadratization method, and the scalar auxiliary variable method coupled with the LDG method to construct first-order temporal accurate schemes based on the gradient flow structure of the models. These semi-implicit schemes are decoupled, energy stable, and can be extended to high accuracy schemes using the semi-implicit spectral deferred correction method. Many bound preserving DG discretizations are only worked on explicit time integration methods and are difficult to get high-order accuracy. To overcome these difficulties,we use the Lagrange multipliers to enforce the implicit or semi-implicit LDG schemes to satisfy the bound constraints at each time step. This bound preserving limiter results in the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker condition, which can be solved by an efficient active set semi-smooth Newton method.Various numerical experiments illustrate the high-order accuracy and the effect of bound preserving.

文摘Machine learning has been widely used for solving partial differential equations(PDEs)in recent years, among which the random feature method(RFM)exhibits spectral accuracy and can compete with traditional solvers in terms of both accuracy and efficiency.Potentially, the optimization problem in the RFM is more difficult to solve than those that arise in traditional methods.Unlike the broader machine-learning research, which frequently targets tasks within the low-precision regime, our study focuses on the high-precision regime crucial for solving PDEs.In this work,we study this problem from the following aspects:(i)we analyze the coeffcient matrix that arises in the RFM by studying the distribution of singular values;(ii)we investigate whether the continuous training causes the overfitting issue;(ii)we test direct and iterative methods as well as randomized methods for solving the optimization problem.Based on these results,we find that direct methods are superior to other methods if memory is not an issue, while iterative methods typically have low accuracy and can be improved by preconditioning to some extent.

文摘We report a linear-scaling random Green's function(rGF) method for large-scale electronic structure calculation. The rGF method provides an effective stochastic method for large-scale electronic structure simulation.

文摘Theα-universal triple I(α-UTI)method is a recognized scheme in the field of fuzzy reasoning, whichwas proposed by our research group previously. The robustness of fuzzy reasoning determines the quality of reasoning algorithms to a large extent, which is quantified by calculating the disparity between the output of fuzzy reasoning with interference and the output without interference. Therefore,in this study, the interval robustness(embodied as the interval stability)of theα-UTI method is explored in the interval-valued fuzzy environment. To begin with, the stability of theα-UTI method is explored for the case of an individual rule, and the upper and lower bounds of its results are estimated, using four kinds of unified interval implications(including the R-interval implication, the S-interval implication, the QL-interval implication and the interval t-norm implication).Through analysis,it is found that theα-UTI method exhibits good interval stability for an individual rule. Moreover, the stability of theα-UTI method is revealed in the case of multiple rules, and the upper and lower bounds of its outcomes are estimated. The results show that theα-UTI method is stable for multiple rules when four kinds of unified interval implications are used,respectively.Lastly,theα-UTI reasoning chain method is presented, which contains a chain structure with multiple layers. The corresponding solutions and their interval perturbations are investigated. It is found that theα-UTI reasoning chain method is stable in the case of chain reasoning. Two application examples in affective computing are given to verify the stability of theα-UTImethod.In summary, through theoretical proof and example verification,it is found that theα-UTImethod has good interval robustness with four kinds of unified interval implications aiming at the situations of an individual rule,multi-rule and reasoning chain.

文摘In this paper,an adaptive polynomial chaos expansion method(PCE)based on the method of moments(MoM)is proposed to construct surrogate models for electromagnetic scattering and further sensitivity analysis. The MoM is applied to accurately solve the electric field integral equation(EFIE)of electromagnetic scattering from homogeneous dielectric targets.Within the bistatic radar cross section(RCS)as the research object, the adaptive PCE algorithm is devoted to selecting the appropriate order to construct the multivariate surrogate model. The corresponding sensitivity results are given by the further derivative operation, which is compared with those of the finite difference method(FDM).Several examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for sensitivity analysis of electromagnetic scattering from homogeneous dielectric targets.

文摘This paper introduces a new method of calculating crown projection area(CPA),the area of level ground covered by a vertical projection of a tree crown from measured crown radii through numerical interpolation and integration. This novel method and other four existing methods of calculating CPA were compared using detailed crown radius measurements from 30 tall trees of Eucalyptus pilularis variable in crown size, shape, and asymmetry. The four existing methods included the polygonal approach and three ways of calculating CPA as the area of a circle using the arithmetic, geometric and quadratic mean radius.Comparisons were made across a sequence of eight non-consecutive numbers(from 2 to 16)of measured crown radii for each tree over the range of crown asymmetry of the 30 trees through generalized linear models and multiple comparisons of means. The sequence covered the range of the number of crown radii measured for calculating the CPA of a tree in the literature.A crown asymmetry index within the unit interval was calculated for each tree to serve as a normative measure. With a slight overestimation of 2.2%on average and an overall mean error size of 7.9%across the numbers of crown radii that were compared, our new method was the least biased and most accurate.Calculating CPA as a circle using the quadratic mean crown radius was the second best, which had an average overestimation of 4.5%and overall mean error size of 8.8%.These two methods remained by and large unbiased as crown asymmetry increased, while the other three methods showed larger bias of underestimation. For the conventional method of using the arithmetic mean crown radius to calculate CPA as a circle, bias correction factors were developed as a function of crown asymmetry index to delineate the increasing magnitude of bias associated with greater degrees of crown asymmetry. This study reveals and demonstrates such relationships between the accuracy of CPA calculations and crown asymmetry and will help increase awareness among researchers and practitioners on the existence of bias in their CPA calculations and for the need to use an unbiased method in the future. Our new method is recommended for calculating CPA where at least four crown radius measurements per tree are available because that is the minimum number required for its use.

文摘As a new type of environmental pollutants, microplastics have gradually attracted people s attention.A large number of plastics discharged into the environment by human beings are constantly aging and breaking, and finally become microplastics.Microplastics can adsorb pollutants in the environment, and their components have certain toxicity, which can cause different degrees of harm to organisms.Due to the structural characteristics of microplastic particles, such as small particle size, large specific surface area, and their distribution in different environmental media,it is very difficult to accurately detect microplastics.Reliable collection and detection methods are the key to the study of environmental behavior of microplastics. In this study, the collection and detection methods of microplastics in the environment were reviewed, and the development direction of microplastics detection technology in the future was prospected. This study has a certain reference value for the related research and the prevention and treatment of micro-plastic pollution.

文摘The hydraulic testing of pre-existing fractures(HTPF)is one of the most promising in situ stress measurement methods, particularly for three-dimensional stress tensor determination. However, the stress tensor determination based on the HTPF method requires at least six tests or a minimum of 14-15 tests(under different conditions)for reliable results. In this study,we modified the HTPF method by considering the shear stress on each pre-existing fracture, which increased the number of equations for the stress tensor determination and decreased the number of tests required.Different shear stresses were attributed to different fractures by random sampling;therefore, the stress tensors were obtained by searching for the optimal solution using the least squares criterion based on the Monte Carlo method.Thereafter,we constrained the stress tensor based on the tensile strength criterion, compressive strength criterion, and vertical stress constraints. The inverted stress tensors were presented and analyzed based on the tensorial nature of the stress using the Euclidean mean stress tensor. Two stress-measurement campaigns in Weifang(Shandong Province,China)and Mercantour road tunnel(France)were implemented to highlight the validity and efficiency of the modified HTPF(M-HTPF)method.The results showed that the M-HTPF method can be applied for stress tensor inversion using only three to four tests on pre-existing fractures, neglecting the stress gradient. The inversion results were confined to relatively small distribution dispersions and were significantly reliable and stable due to the shear stresses on the fractures and the stress constraints employed. The M-HTPF method is highly feasible and efficient for complete stress tensor determination in a single borehole.

文摘The Mean First-Passage Time (MFPT) and Stochastic Resonance (SR) of a stochastic tumor-immune model withnoise perturbation are discussed in this paper. Especially, SNR is monotonouslyincreased in the case ofGaussian white noisewith the change of the correlation time.At last, the optimal parametersin BPNN structure are analyzed for MFPT from three aspects: the penalty factors, the number of neural networklayers and the number of nodes in each layer.
文摘This paper provides a method of the process of computation called the cumulative method, it is based upon repeated cumulative process. The new cumulative method proved to be more flexible and made it possible to extend the multiplication and division based on repeated addition/subtraction to decimal numbers.
