The propagation characteristics of an elementary fiber hasagreat effect on the transfer of the maximum information content. A physical model of an elementary fiber with the diffused type, a 3-layer structure fiber, is set up. The concept of the "interim-layer mode" is introduced, and the eigenequation of guided-mode transmission and interim-layer mode transmission has also been deduced. The expressions of transmissive efficiency and crosstalk are defined. According to some low-order modes, in different cases of diffusion and structural design parameters, the transmissive efficiency is calculated. Results show that the existence of the diffused interim layer is the main factor that affects the efficient transmission in fiber and causes crosstalk.展开更多
