A laboratory model of continuous steaming unit was fabricated and tested with two indica rice varieties, fine (ADT39) and coarse (CO43) rice, at three different soaking temperatures (50, 60 and 70 ~C) for 4 h and five residence times of steaming (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 min). The effects of continuous steaming on milling characteristics of rice were studied and compared with the values obtained from the control experiment (open steaming process under laboratory conditions). The favourable conditions for continuous parboiling of the fine variety ADT39 were identified as soaking at 70 ~C for 4 h and 3.0 min residence time of Steaming. These conditions showed head rice outturn of 74.0%. The favourable processing conditions for the coarse variety CO43 were found to be 4 h of soaking at 60 ~C and steaming of 3.0 min residence time, and at these conditions the head rice outturn was 73.9%.展开更多

The head has two milling cutters, which are connected by a pair of gears and rotate in opposite direction respectively. Both up-cut and down-cut can be carried out simultaneously by t hese milling cutters. The each depth of cut, the ratio of up/down cutting depth , by these cutters can be also selected. The cutting force characteristics were experimentally discussed by changing the ratio. The cutting force and its locus can be also changed by the selection of the ratio of up/down cutting depth. For practical usage of the head the analytical prediction method of the cutting forc e characteristics under selected cutting condition was proposed based on the ene rgy approach method proposed, in which both of cutting force characteristics of a single milling cutter and the combined milling cutter under a selected up/dow n cutting depth ratio were analytically estimated based on the two dimensional c utting data. It was experimentally shown that in NC milling machine the cutting force locus was controlled in pre-determined direction under various tool paths .展开更多

The effects of the finite depth, conical shape, trapezoidal shape and hybrid shape of holes are theoretically analyzed. Due to the difficulty of milling high aspect-ratio cylindrical holes in lithium niobate (LiNbO3 ), a compromised solution is proposed to improve the overlap between shallow holes and the waveguide mode, and useful transmission spectra with strong contrast and sharp band edges are achieved.展开更多

Milling experiments were conducted for the brown rice, which were conditioned under different amount of humidification and duration. Software SAS was used to analyze the effect of amount of humidification and duration on the head rice yield and energy consumption of milled brown rice. The reasonable parameters including amount of humidification of 1.45% and duration of 60-90 rain were obtained, which decreased energy consumption by 30% and increased head rice yield by 10%. Therefore, the method of moisture conditioned can improve milling quality of stored paddy due to the hardness and crisp of paddy reduced.展开更多

Therefore, nitrogen is the key input for increasing the productivity of aromatic rice. Research analyzing the effects of N level on yield and quality characteristics of modem aromatic cultivars in the north-western Indo-Gangetic Plains is not well documented. Therefore, the present study was conducted to optimise the N levels for higher yield and better quality of the modem aromatic rice cultivars. The mean grain yield increased by 22.5% when plots were supplemented with 40 kg/ha of N application as compared to control (unfertilized). Among cultivars, Punjab Mehak 1 registered highest yield (5.3 t/ha) followed by Pusa Basmati 1121 (4.78 t/ha) and Punjab Basmati 2 (4.66 t/ha) respectively. Interactive effect between N levels and cultivars on grain yield revealed that in Punjab Mehak l, grain yield responded significantly up to 60 kg/ha of N application as compared to Pusa Basmati 1121 and Punjab Basmati 2 where it responded only upto 40 kg/ha of N application. All the quality characteristic found to be improved with N application, whereas amylose content decreased with 60 kg/ha of N application as compared to 20 and 40 kg/ha of N application.展开更多

With macroscale operations technology of blast furnace in Indian, pellets, as a kind of high-quality materials, attract more and more attention. However, the hematite fines possess the coarse size. Hence, they inevitably need to be further finely ground for pelletizing before balling. The grinding behavior of Indian hematite fines was revealed by conducting the ball milling tests and determining the Bond ball mill work index (Wi). The results show that Indian hematite fines have an excellent grindability with Wi of only 7.40-7.73 kWh/t, indicating that ball milling is an economically viable way to pretreat Indian hematite fines. Nonetheless, due to poor sedimentation and filtering properties of wet ground products, the dry ball milling is more appropriate to process Indian hematite fines. In addition, the superior quality green balls can be manufactured with dry ground products under the conditions of 0.5% bentonite dosage, 7.5% moisture and balling for 12 min, which further confirmed that the recommended pellet feed preparation technique is reasonable.展开更多
