For simplicity, a one-dimensional autoregressive (AR) process is used to model the time-varying channel, and the least square (LS) algorithm based on pilot signals is adopted to track the time-varying channel fading factor a. The low-dimensional Kalman filter estimator greatly reduces the complexity of the high-dimensional Kalman filter. To utilize the relationship of fading channel in frequency domain, a minimum mean-square-error (MMSE) combiner is used to refine the estimation results. The simulation results in the frequency band of 5.5 GHz show that the proposed method achieves a good symbol error rate (SER) performance close to the theoretical bound of ideal channel estimation.展开更多

The statistical model of wavelet coefficients is analyzed and its performance is modeled with a mixture density of two zero-mean Gaussian distributions. A fuzzy shrinkage factor is derived based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criteria with Bayesian estimation. In the case above, the ideas of region division and fuzzy shrinkage arc adopted according to the interscale dependencies among wavelet coefficients. The noise-free wavelet coefficients are estimated accurately. Experimental results show that the algorithm proposed is superior to the refined Lee filter, wavelet soft thresbolding shrinkage and SWT shrinkage algorithms in terms of smoothing effects and edges preservation.展开更多

A simple yet effec- tive solution to this problem is presented by designing a channel extrapolator relying on Karhunen-Loeve (KL) expansion of time- varying channels. In this scheme, channel estimation is done at the base station (BS) rather than at the user terminal (UT), which thereby dispenses the channel parameters feedback from the UT to the BS. Moreover, the inherent channel correlation and the parsimonious parameterization properties of the KL expan- sion are respectively exploited to reduce the channel mismatch error and the computational complexity. Simulations show that the presented scheme outperforms conventional schemes in terms of both channel estimation mean square error (MSE) and ergodic capacity.展开更多

The received image quality is significantly influenced by noise. Thus, image signal denoising is an indispensable step during image processing. As we all know, most commonly used methods of image denoising is Bayesian wavelet transform estimators. The Performance of various estimators, such as maximum a posteriori (MAP), or minimum mean square error (MMSE) is strongly dependent on correctness of the proposed model for original data distribution. Therefore, the selection of a proper model for distribution of wavelet coefficients is important in wavelet-based image denoising. This paper presents a new image denoising algorithm based on the modeling of wavelet coefficients in each subband with multivariate Radial Exponential probability density function (PDF) with local variances. Generally these multivariate extensions do not result in a closed form expression, and the solution requires numerical solutions. However, we drive a closed form MMSE shrinkage functions for a Radial Exponential random vectors in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). The estimator is motivated and tested on the problem of wavelet-based image denoising. In the last, proposed, the same idea is applied to the dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT), This Transform is an over-complete wavelet transform.展开更多
