A dynamic condition-based maintenance optimization model for mission-oriented system based on inverse Gaussian degradation process

An effective maintenance policy optimization model can reduce maintenance cost and system operation risk. For mission-oriented systems, the degradation process changes dynamically and is monotonous and irreversible. Meanwhile, the risk of early failure is high. Therefore, this paper proposes a dynamic condition-based maintenance(CBM) optimization model for mission-oriented system based on inverse Gaussian(IG) degradation process. Firstly, the IG process with random drift coefficient is used to describe the degradation process and the relevant probability distributions are obtained. Secondly, the dynamic preventive maintenance threshold(DPMT) function is used to control the early failure risk of the mission-oriented system, and the influence of imperfect preventive maintenance(PM)on the degradation amount and degradation rate is analysed comprehensively. Thirdly, according to the mission availability requirement, the probability formulas of different types of renewal policies are obtained, and the CBM optimization model is constructed. Finally, a numerical example is presented to verify the proposed model. The comparison with the fixed PM threshold model and the sensitivity analysis show the effectiveness and application value of the optimization model. 展开更多

The flight control law design for tanker should ensure that the closed-loop response can meet the aerial refueling mission requirements. In order to reveal the movement characteristics of the tanker and the handling characteristics of the pilot in aerial refueling, the flight path capture and hold under gust disturbance task is designed as the demonstration maneuver mission to evaluate the flying qualities for tanker in aerial refueling task, which is based on the design requirements of maneuvering tasks used in mission-oriented flying qualities assessment. By analyzing the flight path tracking and holding requirements of the tanker in aerial refueling mission, the relevant parameters that reflect the response characteristics of the tanker in pitch and roll axes are put forward. The ground flight simulation test based on mission-oriented flight quality assessment is conducted, and the test pilot's assessment results based on Cooper-Harper rating and PIO scales are obtained for different flight control law configurations. The suggested requirements of the closed-loop response characteristics of the pitch and roll axes of the tanker are put forward, which can be specifications for the aerial refueling mode flight control design of tanker. 展开更多

Using the concepts of technology goal(T),effective organization(O),and market end-user(M),this paper proposes a TOM framework for analyzing the contextual characteristics of adoption of the MMRD model as a tool of R&D governance.Applying the framework to cases across multiple historical periods,sectors,and countries,we find that R&D with a clear and specific technology goal,dominance of R&D by government agencies,and public sectors as end-users create an appropriate scenario for a government to adopt the MMRD model,while in doing so the government should also take into consideration such factors as economic efficiency,national security,and public interests.We evaluate the TOM framework based on its application to China’s practice,particularly its ongoing mega-engineering programs(MEPs).Only a few MEPs under its national development plan are likely to be successful while others will likely not achieve their original aims. 展开更多
