Effects of mixing methods of bifunctional catalysts on catalyst stability of DME synthesis via CO_(2)hydrogenation 被引量:1

The effects of three different mixing methods of CuO/ZnO/Al_(2)O_(3)(CZA)and HZSM-5 bifunctional catalyst on the stability for dimethyl ether(DME)synthesis from carbon dioxide(CO_(2))hydrogenation were investigated.When the bifunctional catalyst was prepared by method A(mixing powder without pelletization),there was no significant change in DME production and catalyst stability when the HZSM-5 loading was varied between 0.1 g and 0.5 g with a fixed CZA loading of 0.5 g,.When the bifunctional catalysts were prepared by method B(pressed into pellets of CZA and pellets of HZSM-5 and then mixed)and method C(mixed CZA and HZSM-5 powders,then pressed into pellets),the mixing methods did not initially impact CO_(2)conversion and had a minor effect on DME yield.However,long-term tests(100 h)indicated that the mixing method had a significant influence on the catalyst stability.Method B showed the best stability and the extent of catalyst deactivation followed the sequence of method B<method A<method C.Characterizations of spent catalysts indicated that method B could reduce the extent of copper(Cu)oxidation,which due to the relatively low surface contact between Cu active sites and HZSM-5.Large amounts of water generated in CO_(2)hydrogenation to synthesize DME and intimate contact between CZA and HZSM-5 catalyst could induce severe oxidation of Cu and metal ions migration from hydrogenation catalyst to HZSM-5,which can result in the number reduction of acidic sites. 展开更多

Discontinuous Galerkin(DG) method is known to have several advantages for flow simulations,in particular,in fiexible accuracy management and adaptability to mesh refinement. In the present work,the DG method is developed for numerical simulations of both temporally and spatially developing mixing layers. For the temporally developing mixing layer,both the instantaneous fiow field and time evolution of momentum thickness agree very well with the previous results. Shocklets are observed at higher convective Mach numbers and the vortex paring manner is changed for high compressibility. For the spatially developing mixing layer,large-scale coherent structures and self-similar behavior for mean profiles are investigated. The instantaneous fiow field for a three-dimensional compressible mixing layer is also reported,which shows the development of largescale coherent structures in the streamwise direction. All numerical results suggest that the DG method is effective in performing accurate numerical simulations for compressible shear fiows. 展开更多

Numerical simulation of nanoparticle nucleation and coagulation in a mixing layer with sulfuric acid vapor binary system is performed using the large eddy simulation and the direct quadrature method of moment. The distributions of number concentration, volume concentration, and average diameter of nanoparticles are obtained. The results show that the coherent structures have an important effect on the distributions of number concentration, volume concentration and average diameter of nanoparticles via continuously transporting and diffusing the nanoparticles to the area of low particle concentration. In the streamwise direction, the number concentration of nanoparticles decreases, while the volume concentration and the average diameter increase. The distributions of number concentration, volume concentration and average diameter of nanoparticles are spatially inhomogeneous. The characteristic time of nucleation is shorter than that of coagulation. The nucleation takes place more easily in the area of low temperature because where the number concentration of nanoparticles is high, while the intensity of coagulation is mainly affected by the number concentration. Both nucleation and coagulation result in the variation of average diameter of nanoparticles. 展开更多

Objective:With a positive safety culture,institutions offer the best quality and safe care to their patients.The objective of this study was to analyze patient safety culture from the perspective of the multidisciplinary team,to identify factors that influence patient safety culture,and to create/promote-jointly with the study participants-strategies for improving processes of change.Methods:The study design represented a mixed methods research approach,with a sequential explanatory design.A multidisciplinary team of workers at a general hospital was eligible for the study.To collect quantitative data,we administered the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire(SAQ).The qualitative phase was accomplished via focus groups(FGs),with participants from the first phase of the study using the principles of deliberative dialogue(DD)as a knowledge-translation strategy.The STROBE guideline was used to develop the study.Results:The overall SAQ score was positive(75.1±10.4).Negative scores were found in the fields of Safety Climate,Working Conditions,and Stress Recognition.Focus group discussions identified the aspects that create a negative impact on safety culture,such as ineffective communication,punitive approach in the event of errors,the lack of commitment and adherence to the protocols,and the non-recognition of the stress and the mistakes.Actions for the promotion of safety culture were developed and implemented during the study.Conclusions:The use of the principles of DD as a strategy for knowledge translation(KT)made it possible to identify and plan for joint actions to generate improvements in safety culture. 展开更多

The mixed finite element (MFE) method is employed to study the system of equations for the vapor deposition chemical reaction processes. The semidiscrete and fully discrete MFE formulations are derived. And the existence and convergence (error estimate) of the semidiscrete and fully discrete MFE solutions are demonstrated. By employing MFE method to treat the system of equations for the vapor deposition chemical reaction processes, the numerical solutions of the velocity vector, the temperature field, the pressure field, and the gas mass field can be found out simultaneously. Determinants of Risky Sexual Behaviour among Inmates in Katsina Correctional Service: A Mixed Methods Study

Therefore, sexual activities occur behind bars, regardless of the stringent rules in correctional institutions. However, little has been documented about risky sexual behaviors, determinants, and experiences among inmates of correctional institutions in Katsina State, Nigeria. The study determined the sexual practices, prevalence, and determinants of risky sexual behaviors among prison inmates in Katsina. <b></b></span><b><b><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Methodology:</span></b><span style="font-family:Verdana;"></span></b> A descriptive cross-sectional design with concurrent mixed methods of data collection was used to interview 216 inmates using a semi-structured questionnaire supplemented with 22 in-depth interviews. <b><b><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Result:</span></b><span style="font-family:Verdana;"></span></b> Most (94%) respondents were male, almost half (44.4%) had secondary education, more than half (55.1%) were engaged in business or trading before incarceration, and the majority (75.9%) were awaiting trial. Nearly all inmates (98.6%) reported having sexual desire. Drug use (80.1%) and unprotected sex (79.2%) were quite common but sexual violence was low (7.4%). The number of sexual partners of respondents remained a significant predictor of sexual activity. Inmates who had one (1) or no sexual partner were 64% less likely to engage in risky sexual activity within the confines of the prison (AOR = 0.36, 95% CI = 0.20 <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:;" "=""><span style="white-space:nowrap;"><span style="white-space:nowrap;">&#45</span></span></span></span></span></span><span><span><span style="font-family:;" "=""><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> 0.63, p = 0.01). Qualitative interviews revealed the denial of occurrence of sexual activity in prison despite sexual desire felt by inmates;loneliness, poverty, and curiosity as motives for sexual relations;denial of occurrence of sexual violence in prison;and drug use and use of unsterilized sharps as risky sexual behaviors. <b></b></span><b><b><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Conclusion:</span></b><span style="font-family:Verdana;"></span></b> Despite the disciplinary action meted out on inmates, prisoners still engaged in a range of risky sexual behaviors. In order to develop AlN composites suitable for high average power electronic tube, AlN-W materials were prepared by spark plasma sintering. The effects of manufacture parameters on dielectric loss tangent and permittivity constant were investigated, which include powder-mixed method, milling time of high-energy ball milling, starting powder particle size, sintering temperature and holding time and adding amount of the conductive second phase. The results showed that A1N-W materials sintered at the temperature of 1700℃ holding for 5 min with 10 vol.% W showed the best dielectric loss tangent larger than 0.81 at the frequency 1 kHz-1 MHz. In addition, magnetic stirring mixed powder and lower sintering temperature led to the better propelties because of the higher porosity. The samples sintered from the starting AlN powder with smaller particle size also had the better properties. 展开更多
