Mobile devices as a popular computing platform for enterprise systems have enabled certain tasks to be executed out of office.However,the work may be interrupted due to the server shutdown or network disconnection when employees access traditional single-engine Business Process Management System.To overcome this defect,we present a lightweight twin-engine architecture based on Service Oriented Architecture(SOA).In this paper,we discuss in detail the design and implementation of the architecture,and present a trigger mechanism to activate engines according to the states of hybrid environments since it is critical for the two types of engines to cooperate closely in hybrid environments with fixed and mobile computing resources.The experimental results validate the usability of the architecture. 展开更多

In the current multi-carrier communications,Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM)is widely considered as a leading technology.For mobile applications,however,the orthogonality between subcarriers is deteriorated by Doppler frequency shift,which will introduce serious subcarrier phase rotation in the received signals and degrade the system performance.Thus,a method of differential grouping weighted symmetry data-conjugate(DWSCC)have been previously presented to obtain a better inter-carrier interference(ICI)suppressing effect and Bit Error Rate(BER)performance with no loss of spectral efficiency.In this paper,a novel scheme applying a completely different method of subcarrier interactive mapping is put forward.By mapping two different symbols which are both conjugated or multiplied by a complex weighting factor onto a pair of symmetric subcarriers,the presented scheme can greatly reduce the influence of subcarriers phase rotation caused by Doppler frequency shift in highly mobile environments.Analysis and simulation results indicate that comparing with the DWSCC method,our formulated scheme can not only maintain the spectrum utilization with no loss,but also have the advantages of an improvement on reduction effect and BER performance as well as a lower computational complexity in highly mobile environments. 展开更多

Yang and Chang (2009) proposed a three-party authenticated key exchange protocol for securing communications in mobile-commerce environments. Their protocol reduces computation and communication costs by employing elliptic curve cryptosystems. However, Tan (2010) pointed out that Yang and Chang (2009)'s protocol cannot withstand impersonation and parallel attacks, and further proposed an enhanced protocol to resist these attacks. This paper demonstrates that Tan (2010)'s approach still suffers from impersonation attacks, and presents an efficient and secure three-party authenticated key exchange protocol to overcome shown weaknesses. 展开更多

The nature of mobile environments differs from that of PC and server environments due to many factors, such as the network, energy, battery, and compatibility. Evaluating and predicting mobile application reliability are real challenges because of the diversity of the mobile environments in which the applications are used, and the lack of publicly available defect data. In addition, bug reports are optionally submitted by end-users. In this paper, we propose assessing and predicting the reliability of a mobile application using known software reliability growth models (SRGMs). Four software reliability models are used to evaluate the reliability of an open-source mobile application through analyzing bug reports. Our experiment proves it is possible to use SRGMs with defect data acquired from bug reports to assess and predict the software reliability in mobile applications. The results of our work enable software developers and testers to assess and predict the reliability of mobile software applications.</span> </div> 展开更多

Purpose:As smartphones become ubiquitous,it is important to understand emerging information behavior as a result of wide spread use of smartphones.The purpose of this study is to investigate information behavior in the mobile environment by studying undergraduate smartphone users in China.Design/methodology/approach:This study is based on a survey of 205 undergraduate students in China.Findings:Smartphones are used predominantly for accessing news and connecting to social media,rather than for academic purposes such as accessing library resources or researching.While students use smartphones for reading e-books,much of this reading is recreational during their spare time.Research limitations:The inherent limitations of self-reported measures and the small sample size of this study mean that the results cannot be generalized across different age groups and cultures.Practical implications:When targeting users on the move,information professionals should be aware that the needs and behaviors of smartphone readers are significantly different compared to users of fixed devices,and should provide services in a mobile-friendly way.Originality/value:The younger generation is accustomed to instant information access.For libraries to relevant,they must redesign their services.It is important for libraries to leverage the strengths of mobile technology and to balance traditional services with mobile delivery.Even though many mobile users will use desktop or laptop computers to access library resources,they will benefit from the availability of mobile-friendly library services. 展开更多

Mobile Memory Management System Based on User’s Application Usage Patterns

Currently,the number of functions to improve user convenience in smartphone applications is increasing.In addition,more mobile applications are being loaded into mobile operating system memory for faster launches,thus increasing the memory requirements for smartphones.The memory used by applications in mobile operating systems is managed using software;allocated memory is freed up by either considering the usage state of the application or terminating the least recently used(LRU)application.As LRU-based memory management schemes do not consider the application launch frequency in a low memory situation,currently used mobile operating systems can lead to the termination of a frequently executed application,thereby increasing its relaunch time.This study proposes a memory management system that can efficiently utilize the main memory space by analyzing the application usage information.The proposed system reduces the application launch time by leaving the most frequently used or likely to be run applications in the main memory for as long as possible.The performance evaluation conducted utilizing actual smartphone usage records showed that the proposed memory management system increases the number of times the applications resume from the main memory compared with the conventional memory management system,and that the average application execution time is reduced by approximately 17%. 展开更多

Water jets are widely used in seabed scouring and desilting applications.In the present work,dedicated tests have been conducted using a jet scour model test platform and sand beds containing grains with different sizes.The FLOW-3D simulation software has also been used to tackle the problem form a numerical point of view.The boundary conditions of the simulation have been optimized to reduce the gap between the numerical results and the outcomes of the experimental tests.Scour area calculation has been based on a RNG k-εTurbulence model.Moreover,the FAVOR(Fractional Area Volume Obstacle Representation)technology has been selected for grid division to make the simulation results more accurate.Jet scours with inclination angles of 10–20°have been simulated.It has been found that jet scouring is greatly affected by the environmental water flow,that is,water flow can weaken the scouring capacity of the jets. 展开更多
