Real-Time 4-Mode MDM Transmission Using Commercial 400G OTN Transceivers and All-Fiber Mode Multiplexers

Weakly-coupled mode division multiplexing(MDM)technique is considered a promising candidate to enhance the capacity of an optical transmission system,in which mode multiplexers/demultiplexers(MMUX/MDEMUX)with low insertion loss and modal crosstalk are the key components.In this paper,a low-modal-crosstalk 4-mode MMUX/MDEMUX for the weakly-coupled triple-ring-core few-mode fiber(TRC-FMF)is designed and fabricated with side-polishing processing.The measurement results show that a pair of MMUX/MDEMUX and 25 km weakly-coupled TRC-FMF MDM link achieve low modal crosstalk of lower than−17.5 dB and insertion loss of lower than 11.56 dB for all the four modes.Based on the TRC-FMF and all-fiber MMUX/MDEMUX,an experiment for 25 km real-time 4-mode 3-λwavelength division multiplexing(WDM)-MDM transmission is conducted using commercial 400G optical transport network(OTN)transceivers.The experimental results prove weakly-coupled MDM techniques facilitate a smooth upgrade of the optical transmission system. 展开更多

The mode converter and demultiplexer have a compact size of less than 2.7 μm × 43.7 μm. Moreover, the crosstalk between neighboring wavelength channel within C band (1530 nm to 1570 nm) can be reduced by utilizing the tapered phase shifter cascaded with MMI. The simulated results indicate that this structure has a low insertion loss of less than 1 dB, a low crosstalk of better than ?15 dB and a relatively high fabrication tolerance of ~10 nm. Such structure may find many potential applications in silicon photonic integrated devices. </div> 展开更多

During the last decades the whispering gallery mode based sensors have become a prominent solution for label-free sensing of various physical and chemical parameters.At the same time,the widespread utilization of the approach is hindered by the restricted applicability of the known configurations for ambient variations quantification outside the laboratory conditions and their low affordability,where necessity on the spectrally-resolved data collection is among the main limiting factors.In this paper we demonstrate the first realization of an affordable whispering gallery mode sensor powered by deep learning and multi-resonator imaging at a fixed frequency.It has been shown that the approach enables refractive index unit(RIU)prediction with an absolute error at 3×10^(-6) level for dynamic range of the RIU variations from 0 to 2×10^(-3) with temporal resolution of several milliseconds and instrument-driven detection limit of 3×10−5.High sensing accuracy together with instrumental affordability and production simplicity places the reported detector among the most cost-effective realizations of the whispering gallery mode approach.The proposed solution is expected to have a great impact on the shift of the whole sensing paradigm away from the model-based and to the flexible self-learning solutions. 展开更多

A radio wave driven by Orbital angular momentum(OAM) is called a vortex radio and has a helical wavefront. The differential helical wavefronts of several vortex radios are closely related to their topological charges or mode numbers. In physics, two or more radio waves with different mode numbers are orthogonal to their azimuth angles. With the development of radio communication technologies, some researchers have been exploring the OAM-based multi-mode multiplexing(multi-OAM-mode multiplexing) technologies in order to enhance the channel spectrum efficiency(SE) of a radio communication system by using the orthogonal properties of vortex radios. After reviewing the reported researches of OAM-based radio communication, we find that some breakthroughs have been made in the combination of OAM and traditional Multi-Input-Multi-Output(MIMO). However, the existing technology is not sufficient to support OAM-based MIMO system to achieve maximum the channel SE. To maximize the spectrum efficiency of OAM-based MIMO system, we present a reused multi-OAM-mode multiplexing vortex radio(RMMVR) MIMO system, which is based on fractal uniform cir-cular arrays(UCAs). The scheme described in this study can effectively combine multiOAM-mode multiplexing with MIMO spatial multiplexing. First, we present the generation of RMMVR MIMO signals. Second, under line-of-sight(LOS) propagation conditions, we derive the channels of the RMMVR MIMO system. Third, we separate the RMMVR MIMO signals using an orthogonal separation method based on full azimuth sampling. Finally, we introduce the method for calculating the channel capacity of the RMMVR MIMO system. Theoretical analysis shows that the scheme proposed in this study is feasible. Moreover, the simulation results show that spatial and mode diversity are obtained by exploiting fractal UCAs. However, to enhance the channel SE of RMMVR MIMO system, an interference cancellation method needs to be introduced for zero-mode vortex radios, and some methods of multi-OAM-mode beams convergence and mode power optimization strategy should be introduced in the future. 展开更多

Because of the statistical characteristics and the frequency-dependence of PMD, for current single mode fiber with moderate PMD, the probability that all channels are severely degraded at the same time is extremely small, which makes it possible to compensate a dense wavelength division multiplexing(DWDM) transmission system with moderate PMD using this compensator. It is shown that the outage probability of a 40×43 Gb/s DWDM transmission system using this compensator is decreased significantly from 3.6×10-3 to 3.6×10-5. 展开更多

We experimentally transmit eight wavelength-division-multiplexing(WDM)channels,16 quadratic-amplitude-modulation(QAM)signals at 32-GBaud,over 1000 km few mode fiber(FMF).In this experiment,we use WDM,mode division multiplexing,and polarization multiplexing for signal transmission.Through the multiple-input-multiple-output(MIMO)equalization algorithms,we achieve the total line transmission rate of 4.096 Tbit/s.The results prove that the bit error rates(BERs)for the16QAM signals after 1000 km FMF transmission are below the soft-decision forward-error-correction(SD-FEC)threshold of2.4×10^(-2),and the net rate reaches 3.413 Tbit/s.Our proposed system provides a reference for the future development of high-capacity communication. 展开更多

在广义频分复用(Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing,GFDM)系统中,为了应对复杂的信道带来的符号间干扰,基于信道的稀疏特性,使用广义记忆多项式(Generalized Memory Polynomial,GMP)模型对均衡器输入信号进行非线性建模,进... 在广义频分复用(Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing,GFDM)系统中,为了应对复杂的信道带来的符号间干扰,基于信道的稀疏特性,使用广义记忆多项式(Generalized Memory Polynomial,GMP)模型对均衡器输入信号进行非线性建模,进而提出了一种基于压缩感知追踪算法和分组数据模式的低计算量分组稀疏均衡方案。该方案中,为了适应复杂变化的信道,均衡过程中采用了分组数据模式,此外,利用分块矩阵求逆的原理,摒弃了复杂的矩阵求逆运算,在每步的循环中使用矩阵乘法进行迭代计算的方式对正交匹配追踪(Orthogonal Matching Pursuit,OMP)算法及双正交匹配追踪(Double OMP,DOMP)算法进行了改进。仿真结果表明,此分组数据模式有效地改善了均衡效果,同时提出的改进算法在保证误符号率性能的前提下明显地降低了计算量,提升了运算速度。 展开更多

多模态超声技术对特发性非梗阻性无精症睾丸显微取精术的应用价值

目的:探讨采用剪切波弹性成像(SWE)、超微血管成像(SMI)及超声造影(CEUS)的多模态超声技术定位对引导特发性非梗阻性无精症(NOA)睾丸显微取精术(M-TESE)的应用价值。方法:前瞻性纳入120例特发性NOA患者,随机分成SWE组、SMI组和CEUS组(n=... 目的:探讨采用剪切波弹性成像(SWE)、超微血管成像(SMI)及超声造影(CEUS)的多模态超声技术定位对引导特发性非梗阻性无精症(NOA)睾丸显微取精术(M-TESE)的应用价值。方法:前瞻性纳入120例特发性NOA患者,随机分成SWE组、SMI组和CEUS组(n=40);每组分别在SWE示睾丸杨氏模量(E)最大和最小处、SMI示睾丸血流像素比值(CPP)最高和最低处以及CEUS示浓聚区和稀疏区进行定位并量化分析;显微取精术分别在以上区域和常规区取精,比较各个区域的取精成功率。结果:SWE示睾丸杨氏模量最小处、SMI示CPP最高处及CEUS示浓聚区的取精率均高于其常规区(P<0.05)。取精阳性位点与取精阴性位点的杨氏模量、CPP以及造影参数值(达峰时间、平均渡越时间、峰值强度、曲线下面积)间差异均具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。取精阳性位点杨氏模量为(6.49±3.19)kPa、CPP为(45.79±1.30)%、PI值为(15.84±3.19)/dB;以杨氏模量截断值、CPP截断值及PI截断值分别为8.84 kPa、45.80%、15.69/dB时,相应AUC最高。结论:多模态超声技术有助于提高M-TESE的取精成功率。 展开更多

A new approach is proposed to implement synchronous demultiplexers in high-speed ISDN switching networks. A synchronous demultiplexer is designed utilizing the same structure as a synchronous shuffle multiplexer. Both the theoretical analysis and experimental results show that for the same capacity, the new method is more tolerant of signal delay variation, so a very high-speed synchronous demultiplexer can be designed with the larger capacity required in large capacity synchronous switching networks. 展开更多

为考察无需多输入多输出模分复用系统的高速信号传输能力,采用模式选择光子灯笼型模式复用/解复用器构建了2×100 Gb/s双偏振正交相移键控模分复用通信实验系统,系统中用到的少模偏振控制器状态可由LP_(01)和LP_(11b)两个模式信道... 为考察无需多输入多输出模分复用系统的高速信号传输能力,采用模式选择光子灯笼型模式复用/解复用器构建了2×100 Gb/s双偏振正交相移键控模分复用通信实验系统,系统中用到的少模偏振控制器状态可由LP_(01)和LP_(11b)两个模式信道的信串比参数准确表征。测试了系统误码率与信串比关系,实现两个信道纠后无误码传输的条件为信串比约大于8 dB。当两个信道的信串比分别为14.25 dB和13.81 dB时,与背对背收发系统相比,纠后无误码阈值(10^(-2))的接收光功率代价分别为1.40 dB和4.76 dB。分析了光纤衰减、偏振模色散和模式串扰对高速传输系统的影响,估算了串扰受限系统可支持的少模光纤传输距离约为30 km。 展开更多

单相buck-boost功率因数校正(PFC)变换器凭借高功率因数(PF)与升降压的输出特性广泛应用于小功率非隔离LED场合(≤25 W),但是随着双碳政策的推行,需要进一步提升变换器性能。因此提出一种双电感复用的单级无桥buck-boost变换器,其双电... 单相buck-boost功率因数校正(PFC)变换器凭借高功率因数(PF)与升降压的输出特性广泛应用于小功率非隔离LED场合(≤25 W),但是随着双碳政策的推行,需要进一步提升变换器性能。因此提出一种双电感复用的单级无桥buck-boost变换器,其双电感分别交替工作于电感电流不连续导通模式(DCM)与连续导通模态(CCM)。工作于CCM的电感可以与电容构成LC滤波电路减小输出纹波,工作于DCM的电感可以使变换器仍然采用单电流闭环控制实现接近于1的PF与输出调节。此外,所提出的变换器仍然可以采用含谐波注入的控制,进一步降低输出电流纹波,实现PF与输出电流纹波的权衡。最后,两台实验样机验证了拓扑的可行性和理论分析的正确性。 展开更多

We propose a mode demultiplexing hybrid(MDH) that integrates mode demultiplexing, local oscillator power splitting, and optical 90-deg mixing using multi-plane light conversion(MPLC). We demonstrate the realization of a three-mode MDH using four phase plates, one more than what is required for an MPLC-based mode demultiplexer, via numerical simulations. The performance of the three-mode MDH is comparable to that of commercial single-mode 90-deg hybrids. Diverse spatial mode bases can be exploited in mode-division multiplexing(MDM)to sustain the capacity growth in fiber-optic communications,such as linearly polarized(LP)modes,vector modes,LP orbital angular momentum(LP-OAM)modes,and circularly polarized OAM(CP-OAM)modes.Nevertheless,which kind of mode bases is more appropriate to be utilized in fiber still remains unclear.Here,we aim to find the superior mode basis in MDM fiber-optic communications via a system-level comparison in air-core fiber(ACF).We first investigate the walk-off effect of four spatial mode bases over 1-km ACF,where LP and LP-OAM modes show intrinsic mode walk-off,while it is negligible for vector and CP-OAM modes.We then study the mode coupling effect of degenerate vector and CP-OAM modes over 1-km ACF under fiber perturbations,where degenerate even and odd vector modes suffer severe mode cross talk,while negligible for highorder degenerate CP-OAM modes based on the laws of angular momentum conservation.Moreover,we comprehensively evaluate the system-level performance for data-carrying single-channel and two-channel MDM transmission with different spatial mode bases under various kinds of fiber perturbations(bending,twisting,pressing,winding,and out-of-plane moving).The obtained results indicate that the CP-OAM mode basis shows superiority compared to other mode bases in MDM fiber-optic communications without using multiple-input multiple-output digital signal processing.Our findings may pave the way for robust shortreach MDM optical interconnects for data centers and high-performance computing. 展开更多
