Some experiment results don't support theoretical conclusions. The main experimental conclusions are: 1. Wide angle reflection energies are stronger than non-wide-angle reflections (up to twice as strong) but there is a big difference between observations and theoretical calculations that suggest the wide angle reflection energies are 15 times the non- wide-angle reflection energy. The reflection energy increases gradually rather than sharply as the theoretical calculations suggest. 2. The reflection events remain hyperbolic when the offset increases. 3. Wide angle reflection dominant frequency is about 20-30% less than non- wide-angle reflections and decreases as the offset increases. The non-wide-angle reflection dominant frequency shows no obvious variation for small offsets. 4. There is no wave shape mutation or polarity reversal near the critical angle. 5. The reflection event group features are the same for both cases of incidence angle greater and less than the critical angle. 6. Direct arrivals, multiples, and water bottom refractions influence the wide angle reflections of the sea floor.展开更多

The soil failure is governed by a linear Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion, and soil deformation follows an associated flow rule. Based on the energy dissipation method of plastic mechanics, a multi-wedge translational failure mechanism was employed to obtain the three bearing capacity factors related to cohesion, equivalent surcharge load and the unit gravity for various slope inclination angles. Numerical results were compared with those of the published solutions using finite element method and those of model experiments. The bearing capacity factors were presented in the form of design charts for practical use in engineering. The results show that limit analysis solutions approximate to those of model tests, and that the energy dissipation method is effective to estimate bearing capacity of soil slope.展开更多

The digital photogrammetry technology and large deformation analysis method are applied to measure the deformation and fracture of surrounding rocks. The experimental results indicate that the deformation and fracture of coal pillars are the cause to the instability and failure of the surrounding rocks. The spatiotemporal evolution rule of the rock deformation and fracture surrounding gob-side roadway is obtained. The coal pillar and the roof near coal pillar should be strengthened in support design. The engineering application results also can provide a useful guide that the combined support with wire meshes, beam, anchor bolt and cable is an effective method.展开更多

The eutectic has a solid liquid equilibrium temperature of -74 ℃. 5 cm diameter spheres of the eutectic in which three thermocouples in the core, on the edge and in the middle between them had been positioned were cooled to -196 ℃ in liquid nitrogen. After cooling the spheres were immersed into water of 10 ℃, and the changes of temperatures with time in the three thermocouples were measured. In some experiments the temperature on the outer side of the spheres where an ice shell grew up was also measured. In these experiments, the growing rate of the shell was additionally determined. The results for the first minute of the melting process, where the system can be considered as one dimensional, were described by an exact solution of Fouriers equation. The density of liquid ferromanganese at 1 500 ℃ was measured.展开更多

The original columns at lower two stories of the model frame are short columns and they are replaced by the split columns. The hysteresis curves between the horizontal cyclic load and the lateral displacement at the top of the model frame, indicate that under the cyclic loading, the model frame undergoes the process of cracking, yielding, and maximum loading before being destroyed at the ultimate load. They also indicate that the model frame has better ductility, and the ratio of the ultimate displacement to the yielding displacement, reaches 6.0. The yielding process of the model frame shows that for the frame with split columns, plastic hinges are generated at the ends of beams and then the columns begin yielding while the frame still possesses the bearing and deformation capacity. The design idea of directly changing the short column to long one in the reinforced concrete frame may be realized by replacing the short column with the split one.展开更多

Fully closed CDs trap large amounts of sediments in rivers to stabilize the river slopes and control erosion. However, fully closed CDs cannot selectively trap sediment and may easily overflow, causing them to losing their ability to mediate and hold sediments. Previous studies proposed the concept of “breathable CDs”. The researcher introduced metal slit dam (SD) that could be assembled and disassembled quickly and conveniently. Once a CD reaches maximum capacity, operators must ensure that the water channels of the dam are free from blockage. Moreover, they must inspect the internal accumulation conditions of the dam periodically or immediately following heavy typhoon rains. When necessary, either the sediment buildup in the upriver blockage must be cleared, or the transverse structure of the dam must be removed to allow fine particles to be discharged along with a moderate amount of water. These actions can free up the sediment-storing capacity of the dam for the next heavy typhoon rains. In addition, operators should also inspect the damages inflicted on the dam, such as erosion, wear and tear, and deformation conditions. Damaged components should be disassembled and repaired if possible, or recycled and reused. The present study performed channel tests to simulate closed CDs, SDs, steel pipe dam (SPDs), and steel pipe plus slit dam (SPSDs) for 50-year and 100-year frequency floods. Results were then analyzed to determine the sediment trapping (ST) effects of various CDs, the effects of “adjustable CDs”, and the changes of moderated riverbeds.展开更多

Strain I was separated from the formation water of the Dagang oil field, with analytical results showing that Strain I is a gram-positive bacillus. A further study revealed that this strain has an excellent tolerance of environmental stresses: It can survive in conditions of 70℃, 30 wt% salinity and pH3.5-9.4. Strain I can metabolize biosurfactants that could increase the oil recovery ratio, use crude oil as the single carbon source, and decompose long-chain paraffin with a large molecular weight into short-chain paraffin with a small molecular weight. The core model experiment shows that Strain I enhances oil recovery well. Using 2 vol% of the fermentation solution of Strain I to displace the crude oil in the synthetic plastic bonding core could increase the recovery ratio by 21.6%.展开更多

The brain damage caused by seizures can lead to depression, anxiety, cognitive impairment, or disability. In almost all cases chronic seizures are difficult to cure. MicroRNAs are widely expressed in the central nervous system and play important roles in the pathogenesis of several neurological disorders, including epilepsy. A variety of animals(mostly mice and rats) have been used to induce experimental epilepsy using different protocols and miRNA profiling performed. Most of the recent studies reviewed had performed miRNA profiling in hippocampal tissues and a large number of microRNAs were dysregulated when compared to controls. Most notably, miR-132-3p,-146a-5p,-10a-5p,-21a-3p,-27a-3p,-142a-5p,-212-3p,-431-5p, and-155 were upregulated in both the mouse and rat studies. Overexpression of miR-137 and miR-219 decreased seizure severity in a mouse epileptic model, and suppression of miR-451,-10a-5p,-21a-5p,-27a-5p,-142a-5p,-431-5p,-155, and-134 had a positive influence on seizure behavior. In the rat studies, overexpression of miR-139-5p decreased neuronal damage in drug-resistant rats and inhibition of miR-129-2-3p,-27a-3p,-155,-134,-181a, and-146a had a positive effect on seizure behavior and/or reduced the loss of neuronal cells. Further studies are warranted using adult female and immature male and female animals. It would also be helpful to test the ability of specific agomirs and antagomirs to control seizure activity in a subhuman primate model of epilepsy such as adult marmosets injected intraperitoneally with pilocarpine or cynomolgus monkeys given intrahippocampal injections of kainic acid.展开更多

It was carried out in December 2020 in the Physics laboratory of the University of N’Zérékoré. The anaerobic digestion process took 25 days in an almost constant ambient temperature of 25˚C. Five digesters were loaded on 12/06/2020, two of which with 1 kg of pig dung and 1 kg of cow dung both in mono-digestion. The 3 other digesters in co-digestion with different proportions of pig manure and cow dung. The substrate in each digester is diluted in 2 liters of water, with a proportion of (1/2). The main results obtained are: 1) the evolution of the temperature and pH during digestion process, 2) the average biogas productions 0.61 liters for (D1);1.20 liter for (D2);1.65 liter for (D3);1.51 liter for (D4) and 1.31 liter for (D5). The cumulative amounts of biogas are respectively: D1 (7.95 liters), D2 (15.60 liters), D3 (21.50 liters), D4 (19.65 liters) and D5 (17.05 liters). The total cumulative production is 81.75 liters at the end of the process. The originality of this research work is that the proposed model examines the relation between the daily biogas production and the variation of temperature, pH and pressure. The combustibility test showed the biogas produced during the first week was no combustible (contains less than 50% methane). Combustion started from the biogas produced from the 15th day and it is from the 20th day that a significant amount of stable yellow/blue flame was observed. The results of this study show the combination of pig manure and cow dung presents advantages for optimal biogas production.展开更多

During these simulations, we have monitored the physical and mechanical behaviors of the landslide over the slip surface at different heights of the model slopes, as well as taking the whole slope to identify its deformation and failure processes. The results show that the rainfall duration corresponding to the initiation of the debris landslide and is exponentially related to rainfall intensity. Corresponding to the three intervals of the rainfall intensity, there are three types of slope failure modes:(1) the small-slump failure at the leading edge of the slope;(2) the block-slump failure but sometimes there are large blocks sliding down;and(3) the bulk failure but sometimes there is the block-slump failure. Based on the total rainfall-lasting time and the associated proportion of failed mass volume, the early warning of debris landslide can be classified into five grades, i.e., red, orange to red, orange, yellow to orange and yellow, which correspond to the five slope failure modes, respectively.展开更多

It is separated from the Yinggehai Basin through NW-trending Indo-China-Red River shear zone, and connected with NW subsea basin through the Xisha Trough. Along with the rapid progress of the deepwater exploration, large amounts of high resolution geophysical and geological data were accumulated. Scientific researches about deepwater basins kept revealing brand new tectonic and sedimentary discoveries. In order to summarize the structural features and main controlling factors of the deepwater Qiongdongnan Basin, a series of researches on basin architecture, fault activities, tectonic deformation and evolution were carried out. In reference to analogue modeling experiments, a tectonic situation and a basin formation mechanism were discussed. The researches indicate that:the northern boundary of the Qiongdongnan Basin is strongly controlled by No. 2 fault. The overlapping control of two stress fields from the east and the west made the central depression zone extremely thinned. Combined with the changed stress field, the segmentation of a preexisting weakness zone made the sags in the east experiencing different rifting histories from the west ones. The NE-trending west segment of the Qiongdongnan Basin experienced strong rifting during Eocene, while the roughly EW-trending sags in the east segment show strong rifting during late Eocene and early Oligocene. Local structures such as NW-trending basal fault and inherited uplifts controlled the lateral segmentation. So first order factors such as regional stress field and preexisting weakness zone controlled the basin zonation, while the second order factors determined the segmentation from east to west.展开更多

文摘The subsidence dolines are the most common surface forms of the concealed karsts. One type of these dolines is the suffosion doline. In this model experiment the influential role of these kind of dolines’development factors were analyzed. The aim of the study was to determine the significance of the parameters(cover thickness, secondary porosity of the bedrock, chimney diameter, grain size)that influence the development of a suffosion doline. To study the influencing factors numerous(162)experiments were made with different parameters,in a manner that during the experiments we changed only one parameter,so the effects of it would be detectable from the final solution. These measurements were made with the use of a special tool, designed and built for this purpose.According to the data we gained from the model experiments, the development of a suffosion doline is influenced by many parameters. If these parameters are in an optimal connection to each other,a suffosion doline may appear on the surface.Knowing these parameters of the covered karstic depressions lets us estimate other parameters that may influence the development of the subsidence dolines.
文摘The construction of fully closed check dam (CD) is a conventional flood prevention mechanism implemented on rivers. Results were then analyzed to determine the sediment trapping (ST) effects of various CDs, the effects of “adjustable CDs”, and the changes of moderated riverbeds.
文摘This paper introduces the results of selecting and breeding a micro-organism, Strain I, and its core model experiment investigation for microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR). Using 2 vol% of the fermentation solution of Strain I to displace the crude oil in the synthetic plastic bonding core could increase the recovery ratio by 21.6%.
文摘Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders are neuroinflammatory demyelinating disorders that lead to permanent visual loss and motor dysfunction. To date,no effective treatment exists as the exact causative mechanism remains unknown. Therefore, experimental models of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders are essential for exploring its pathogenesis and in screening for therapeutic targets.Since most patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders are seropositive for IgG autoantibodies against aquaporin-4,which is highly expressed on the membrane of astrocyte endfeet, most current experimental models are based on aquaporin-4-IgG that initially targets astrocytes. These experimental models have successfully simulated many pathological features of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders, such as aquaporin-4 loss, astrocytopathy, granulocyte and macrophage infiltration, complement activation, demyelination, and neuronal loss;however, they do not fully capture the pathological process of human neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders. In this review,we summarize the currently known pathogenic mechanisms and the development of associated experimental models in vitro,ex vivo, and in vivo for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders, suggest potential pathogenic mechanisms for further investigation, and provide guidance on experimental model choices. In addition, this review summarizes the latest information on pathologies and therapies for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders based on experimental models of aquaporin-4-IgG-seropositive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders, offering further therapeutic targets and a theoretical basis for clinical trials.

文摘BACKGROUND Acute pancreatitis(AP)encompasses a spectrum of pancreatic inflammatory conditions, ranging from mild inflammation to severe pancreatic necrosis and multisystem organ failure.Given the challenges associated with obtaining human pancreatic samples, research on AP predominantly relies on animal models. In this study,we aimed to elucidate the fundamental molecular mechanisms underlying AP using various AP models.AIM To investigate the shared molecular changes underlying the development of AP across varying severity levels.METHODS AP was induced in animal models through treatment with caerulein alone or in combination with lipopolysaccharide(LPS).Additionally, using Ptf1αto drive the specific expression of the hM3 promoter in pancreatic acinar cells transgenic C57BL/6J-hM3/Ptf1α(cre)mice were administered Clozapine N-oxide to induce AP.Subsequently,we conducted RNA sequencing of pancreatic tissues and validated the expression of significantly different genes using the Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO)database.RESULTS Caerulein-induced AP showed severe inflammation and edema, which were exacerbated when combined with LPS and accompanied by partial pancreatic tissue necrosis.Compared with the control group,RNA sequencing analysis revealed 880 significantly differentially expressed genes in the caerulein model and 885 in the caerulein combined with the LPS model.Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis indicated substantial enrichment of the TLR and NOD-like receptor signaling pathway,TLR signaling pathway, and NF-κB signaling pathway, alongside elevated levels of apoptosis-related pathways, such as apoptosis,P53 pathway, and phagosome pathway. The significantly elevated genes in the TLR and NOD-like receptor signaling pathways,as well as in the apoptosis pathway, were validated through quantitative real-time PCR experiments in animal models.Validation from the GEO database revealed that only MYD88 concurred in both mouse pancreatic tissue and human AP peripheral blood, while TLR1,TLR7,RIPK3,and OAS2 genes exhibited marked elevation in human AP.The genes TUBA1A and GADD45A played significant roles in apoptosis within human AP.The transgenic mouse model hM3/Ptf1α(cre)successfully validated significant differential genes in the TLR and NOD-like receptor signaling pathways as well as the apoptosis pathway, indicating that these pathways represent shared pathological processes in AP across different models.CONCLUSION The TLR and NOD receptor signaling pathways play crucial roles in the inflammatory progression of AP,notably the MYD88 gene.Apoptosis holds a central position in the necrotic processes of AP,with TUBA1A and GADD45A genes exhibiting prominence in human AP.
文摘BACKGROUND Anastomotic leaks remain one of the most dreaded complications in gastrointestinal surgery causing significant morbidity, that negatively affect the patients’quality of life.Experimental studies play an important role in understanding the pathophysiological background of anastomotic healing and there are still many fields that require further investigation.Knowledge drawn from these studies can lead to interventions or techniques that can reduce the risk of anastomotic leak in patients with high-risk features.Despite the advances in experimental protocols and techniques, designing a high-quality study is still challenging for the investigators as there is a plethora of different models used.AIM To review current state of the art for experimental protocols in high-risk anastomosis in rats.METHODS This systematic review was performed according to The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. To identify eligible studies,a comprehensive literature search was performed in the electronic databases PubMed(MEDLINE)and Scopus, covering the period from conception until 18 October 2023.RESULTS From our search strategy 102 studies were included and were categorized based on the mechanism used to create a high-risk anastomosis. Methods of assessing anastomotic healing were extracted and were individually appraised.CONCLUSION Anastomotic healing studies have evolved over the last decades, but the findings are yet to be translated into human studies. There is a need for high-quality,well-designed studies that will help to the better understanding of the pathophysiology of anastomotic healing and the effects of various interventions.

文摘The impulse waves induced by large-reservoir landslides can be characterized by a low Froude number. However, systematic research on predictive models specifically targeting the initial primary wave is lacking.Taking the Shuipingzi 1#landslide that occurred in the Baihetan Reservoir area of the Jinsha River in China as an engineering example, this study established a large-scale physical model(with dimensions of 30 m×29 m×3.5 m at a scale of 1:150)and conducted scaled experiments on 3D landslide-induced impulse waves.During the process in which a sliding mass displaced and compressed a body of water to generate waves, the maximum initial wave amplitude was found to be positively correlated with the sliding velocity and the volume of the landslide. With the increase in the water depth, the wave amplitude initially increased and then decreased. The duration of pressure exertion by the sliding mass at its maximum velocity directly correlated with an elevated wave amplitude.Based on the theories of low-amplitude waves and energy conservation, while considering the energy conversion efficiency,a predictive model for the initial wave amplitude was derived. This model could fit and validate the functions of wavelength and wave velocity. The accuracy of the initial wave amplitude was verified using physical experiment data, with a prediction accuracy for the maximum initial wave amplitude reaching 90%.The conversion efficiency(η)directly determined the accuracy of the estimation formula.Under clear conditions for landslide-induced impulse wave generation, estimating the value ofηthrough analogy cases was feasible. This study has derived the landslide-induced impulse waves amplitude prediction formula from the standpoints of wave theory and energy conservation, with greater consideration given to the intrinsic characteristics in the formation process of landslide-induced impulse waves, thereby enhancing the applicability and extensibility of the formula. This can facilitate the development of empirical estimation methods for landslide-induced impulse waves toward universality.
文摘Epilepsy is a common and serious neurological disease that causes recurrent seizures. It would also be helpful to test the ability of specific agomirs and antagomirs to control seizure activity in a subhuman primate model of epilepsy such as adult marmosets injected intraperitoneally with pilocarpine or cynomolgus monkeys given intrahippocampal injections of kainic acid.

文摘In order to check the validity of the mathematical model for analyzing the flow field in the air-agitated seed precipitation tank,a scaled down experimental apparatus was designed and the colored tracer and KCl tracer were added in the apparatus to follow the real flow line.Virtue tracers were considered in the mathematical model and the algorithm of tracers was built. The comparison of the results between the experiment and numerical calculation shows that the time of the tracer flows out of stirring tube are 40 s in the experiment and 42 s in numerical calculated result. The transient diffusion process and the solution residence time of the numerical calculation are in good agreement with the experimental results, which indicates that the mathematical model is reliable and can be used to predict the flow field of the air-agitated seed precipitation tank.
文摘This present research work focuses on the valorization of pig droppings for production of biogas in mono digestion and co-digestion with proportions of cow dung from the urban commune of N’Zérékoré. The results of this study show the combination of pig manure and cow dung presents advantages for optimal biogas production.

文摘Using physical simulation models, rainfall-induced landslides have been simulated under various rainfall intensities. Based on the total rainfall-lasting time and the associated proportion of failed mass volume, the early warning of debris landslide can be classified into five grades, i.e., red, orange to red, orange, yellow to orange and yellow, which correspond to the five slope failure modes, respectively.

文摘To address the problems of difficult leveling and poor stability of hill crawler tractors,an attitude adjustment device based on a parallel four-bar mechanism was designed, and the mechanical reasons for the sideslip instability of hill crawler tractors were analyzed. On this basis,a posture adjustment mechanism based on a parallel four-bar mechanism was proposed, and the structure of the complete attitude adjustment device was designed. To ensure that this device meets the strength requirements during operation,a mechanical analysis of the key components(active rocker and slave rocker)was carried out to accommodate the load during leveling.Based on ANSYS software,a finite element simulation analysis was used to determine the maximum stress position of the active and slave rockers. Finally,to verify the accuracy of the above simulation analysis results and determine the influence rules of the lateral slope angle, longitudinal slope angle and loading quality on the abovementioned maximum stress,a physical model test bench of the attitude adjustment device was built. An orthogonal regression experiment was carried out with the maximum stresses of the active and slave rockers as the test indices. The experimental data were analyzed by Design-Expert 10 software, and the results show that the order of the primary and secondary factors influencing the maximum stress of the active rocker was the loading mass, lateral slope angle and longitudinal slope angle. The order of the factors influencing the maximum stress of the slave rocker was the longitudinal slope angle, lateral slope angle and loading mass. The active and slave rockers meet the strength requirements. This work provides technical support for the production of hill crawler tractor physical prototypes.

文摘Located at the northwest continental slope of the South China Sea, the Qiongdongnan Basin bears valley-shaped bathymetry deepening toward east. So first order factors such as regional stress field and preexisting weakness zone controlled the basin zonation, while the second order factors determined the segmentation from east to west.
