Control signaling is mandatory for the operation and management of all types of communication networks,including the Third Generation Partnership Project(3GPP)mobile broadband networks.However,they consume important and scarce network resources such as bandwidth and processing power.There have been several reports of these control signaling turning into signaling storms halting network operations and causing the respective Telecom companies big financial losses.This paper draws its motivation from such real network disaster incidents attributed to signaling storms.In this paper,we present a thorough survey of the causes,of the signaling storm problems in 3GPP-based mobile broadband networks and discuss in detail their possible solutions and countermeasures.We provide relevant analytical models to help quantify the effect of the potential causes and benefits of their corresponding solutions.Another important contribution of this paper is the comparison of the possible causes and solutions/countermeasures,concerning their effect on several important network aspects such as architecture,additional signaling,fidelity,etc.,in the form of a table.This paper presents an update and an extension of our earlier conference publication.To our knowledge,no similar survey study exists on the subject. 展开更多

This study aims to develop a system dynamic(SD)forecasting model based on the STIRPAT model to forecast the effect of an IDR 30 per kg CO_(2)e carbon tax on carbon emissions,estimate future carbon emissions under ten scenarios,without and with the carbon tax,and estimate the environmental Kuznets curve(EKC)to predict Indonesia’s carbon emission peak.Carbon emission drivers in this study are decomposed into several factors,namely energy structure,energy intensity,industrial structure,GDP per capita,population,and fixed-asset investment.This study included nuclear power utilization starting in 2038.The research gaps addressed by this study compared to previous research are(1)use of the ex-ante approach,(2)inclusion of nuclear power plants,(3)testing the EKC hypothesis,and(4)contribution to government policy.The simulation results show that under the carbon tax,carbon emissions can be reduced by improving renewable energy structures,adjusting industrial structures to green businesses,and emphasizing fixed asset investment more environmentally friendly.Moreover,the result approved the EKC hypothesis.It shows an inverse U-shaped curve between GDP per capita and CO_(2)emissions in Indonesia.Indonesia’s fastest carbon emission peak is under scenario seven and is expected in 2040.Although an IDR 30 per kg CO_(2)e carbon tax and nuclear power will take decades to reduce carbon emissions,the carbon tax can still be a reference and has advantages to implement.This result can be a good beginning step for Indonesia,which has yet to gain experience with a carbon tax that can be implemented immediately and is helpful to decision-makers in putting into practice sensible measures to attain Indonesia’s carbon emission peaking.This research provides actionable insights internationally on carbon tax policies,nuclear energy adoption,EKC dynamics,global policy implications,and fostering international cooperation for carbon emission reductions. 展开更多

This work is devoted to numerical analysis of thermo-hydromechanical problem and cracking process in saturated porous media in the context of deep geological disposal of radioactive waste.The fundamental background of thermo-poro-elastoplasticity theory is first summarized.The emphasis is put on the effect of pore fluid pressure on plastic deformation.A micromechanics-based elastoplastic model is then presented for a class of clayey rocks considered as host rock.Based on linear and nonlinear homogenization techniques,the proposed model is able to systematically account for the influences of porosity and mineral composition on macroscopic elastic properties and plastic yield strength.The initial anisotropy and time-dependent deformation are also taken into account.The induced cracking process is described by using a non-local damage model.A specific hybrid formulation is proposed,able to conveniently capture tensile,shear and mixed cracks.In particular,the influences of pore pressure and confining stress on the shear cracking mechanism are taken into account.The proposed model is applied to investigating thermo-hydromechanical responses and induced damage evolution in laboratory tests at the sample scale.In the last part,an in situ heating experiment is analyzed by using the proposed model.Numerical results are compared with experimental data and field measurements in terms of temperature variation,pore fluid pressure change and induced damaged zone. 展开更多

Reconstruction of a traumatic distal femur defect remains a therapeutic challenge.Bone defect implants have been proposed to substitute the bone defect,and their biomechanical performances can be analyzed via a numerical approach.However,the material assumptions for past computational human femur simulations were mainly homogeneous.Thus,this study aimed to design and analyze scaffolds for reconstructing the distal femur defect using a patient-specific finite element modeling technique.A three-dimensional finite element model of the human femur with accurate geometry and material distribution was developed using the finite element method and material mapping technique.An intact femur and a distal femur defect model treated with nine microstructure scaffolds and two solid scaffolds were investigated and compared under a single-leg stance loading.The results showed that the metal solid scaffold design could provide the most stable fixation for reconstructing the distal femur defect.However,the fixation stability was affected by various microstructure designs and pillar diameters.A microstructure scaffold can be designed to satisfy all the biomechanical indexes,opening up future possibilities for more stable reconstructions.A three-dimensional finite element model of the femur with real bone geometry and bone material distribution can be developed,and this patient-specific femur model can be used for studying other femoral fractures or injuries,paving the way for more comprehensive research in the field.Besides,this patient-specific finite element modeling technique can also be applied to developing other human or animal bone models,expanding the scope of biomechanical research. 展开更多

Angiosperms experienced one of the most remarkable radiations of land plants and are now the dominant autotrophs in terrestrial ecosystems.Recent phylogenomic studies based on large-scale data from plastid,mitochondrial,or nuclear transcriptomes/genomes and increased taxon sampling have provided unprecedent resolution into the phylogeny of flowering plants.However,owing to ancient rapid radiations,the interrelationships among the five lineages of Mesangiospermae,the vast majority of angiosperms,remain contentious.Here we show that,although plastid and mitochondrial genomes lack sufficient phylogenetic signal for resolving deeper phylogeny,the relationships among five mesangiosperm lineages can be confidently resolved under better-fitting models using genome-scale data.According to our Bayesian cross-validation and model test in a maximum likelihood framework,siteheterogeneous models(e.g.,CAT-GTR+G4,LG+C20+F+G)outperform site-homogeneous or partition models often used in previous studies.Under site-heterogeneous models,the approximately unbiased test favored our preferred tree recovered from various datasets:Ceratophyllales(coontails)are robustly recovered as sister to monocots,and they together are sister to the clade comprising magnoliids,Chloranthales,and eudicots.Our phylogenomic analyses resolve the last enigma of the deeper phylogeny of angiosperms and emphasize the efficacy of modeling compositional heterogeneity in resolving rapid radiations of plants. 展开更多

Experiments and modeling of microstructural and mechanical behaviors of laser-welded Ni-based superalloy at high temperatures

The performance of welded Ni-based superalloys at high temperatures is essential to be evaluated due to their particular service environment for aero-engines and high-speed aircrafts.The tensile properties and related microstructural evolutions such as the carbide precipitate and grain of a laser-welded Ni-based alloy were experimentally and numerically investigated at different temperatures(20,300,500,800℃).The results show that at room temperature,the strength of the Base Material(BM)was slightly smaller,with a difference of less than 1%,than the Welded Material(WM),which can be attributed to the more uniformly distributed needle-shaped carbide precipitates in the WM than those nonuniformly coarser spherical ones in the BM.While at 300℃ and 500℃,the strength of WM decreased more obviously compared with that of BM due to the more apparent growth of grain:13.52%loss in yield strength in WM alloys as compared with BM alloys at 300℃,and 16.57% at 500℃.At 800℃,the strength of BM and WM both decreased to a similar level due to Dynamic Recrystallization(DRX).However,a much higher elongation was observed for the BM than WM(less than 50%of BM),which can be attributed to the enhanced dislocation accumulation capability of the large spherical carbides along grain boundaries on the fracture surface in BM.Furthermore,a unified model considering the welding effects on both microstructures(dislocation,carbides,and grain)and mechanical properties evolutions at different temperatures was developed and validated.Based on this model,the key temperature ranges(20–600℃)where apparent weakening of strength and uniform plasticity occurs for welded structures were identified,providing a direct guidance for potential structure and process design. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Not all neuropsychiatric(NP)manifestations in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)are secondary to lupus.The clarification of the cause of NP symptoms influences therapeutic strategies for SLE.AIM To understand the attribution of psychiatric manifestations in a cohort of Chinese patients with SLE.METHODS This retrospective single-center study analyzed 160 inpatient medical records.Clinical diagnosis,which is considered the gold standard,was used to divide the subjects into a psychiatric SLE(PSLE)group(G1)and a secondary psychiatric symptoms group(G2).Clinical features were compared between these two groups.The sensitivity and specificity of the Italian attribution model were explored.RESULTS A total of 171 psychiatric syndromes were recorded in 138 patients,including 87 cases of acute confusional state,40 cases of cognitive dysfunction,18 cases of psychosis,and 13 cases each of depressive disorder and mania or hypomania.A total of 141(82.5%)syndromes were attributed to SLE.In contrast to G2 patients,G1 patients had higher SLE Disease Activity Index-2000 scores(21 vs 12,P=0.001),a lower prevalence of anti-beta-2-glycoprotein 1 antibodies(8.6%vs 25.9%,P=0.036),and a higher prevalence of anti-ribosomal ribonucleoprotein particle(rRNP)antibodies(39.0%vs 22.2%,P=0.045).The Italian attribution model exhibited a sensitivity of 95.0%and a specificity of 70.0%when the threshold value was set at 7.CONCLUSION Patients with PSLE exhibited increased disease activity.There is a correlation between PSLE and anti-rRNP antibodies.The Italian model effectively assesses multiple psychiatric manifestations in Chinese SLE patients who present with NP symptoms. 展开更多

Accurate estimation of evapotranspiration(ET)is crucial for efficient water resource management,particularly in the face of climate change and increasing water scarcity.This study performs a bibliometric analysis of 352 articles and a systematic review of 35 peer-reviewed papers,selected according to PRISMA guidelines,to evaluate the performance of Hybrid Artificial Neural Networks(HANNs)in ET estimation.The findings demonstrate that HANNs,particularly those combining Multilayer Perceptrons(MLPs),Recurrent Neural Networks(RNNs),and Convolutional Neural Networks(CNNs),are highly effective in capturing the complex nonlinear relationships and tem-poral dependencies characteristic of hydrological processes.These hybrid models,often integrated with optimization algorithms and fuzzy logic frameworks,significantly improve the predictive accuracy and generalization capabilities of ET estimation.The growing adoption of advanced evaluation metrics,such as Kling-Gupta Efficiency(KGE)and Taylor Diagrams,highlights the increasing demand for more robust performance assessments beyond traditional methods.Despite the promising results,challenges remain,particularly regarding model interpretability,computational efficiency,and data scarcity.Future research should prioritize the integration of interpretability techniques,such as attention mechanisms,Local Interpretable Model-Agnostic Explanations(LIME),and feature importance analysis,to enhance model transparency and foster stakeholder trust.Additionally,improving HANN models’scalability and computational efficiency is crucial,especially for large-scale,real-world applications.Approaches such as transfer learning,parallel processing,and hyperparameter optimization will be essential in overcoming these challenges.This study underscores the transformative potential of HANN models for precise ET estimation,particularly in water-scarce and climate-vulnerable regions.By integrating CNNs for automatic feature extraction and leveraging hybrid architectures,HANNs offer considerable advantages for optimizing water management,particularly agriculture.Addressing challenges related to interpretability and scalability will be vital to ensuring the widespread deployment and operational success of HANNs in global water resource management. 展开更多

In traditional digital twin communication system testing,we can apply test cases as completely as possible in order to ensure the correctness of the system implementation,and even then,there is no guarantee that the digital twin communication system implementation is completely correct.Formal verification is currently recognized as a method to ensure the correctness of software system for communication in digital twins because it uses rigorous mathematical methods to verify the correctness of systems for communication in digital twins and can effectively help system designers determine whether the system is designed and implemented correctly.In this paper,we use the interactive theorem proving tool Isabelle/HOL to construct the formal model of the X86 architecture,and to model the related assembly instructions.The verification result shows that the system states obtained after the operations of relevant assembly instructions is consistent with the expected states,indicating that the system meets the design expectations. 展开更多

The advantages of a flat-panel X-ray source(FPXS)make it a promising candidate for imaging applications.Accurate imaging-system modeling and projection simulation are critical for analyzing imaging performance and resolving overlapping projection issues in FPXS.The conventional analytical ray-tracing approach is limited by the number of patterns and is not applicable to FPXS-projection calculations.However,the computation time of Monte Carlo(MC)simulation is independent of the size of the patterned arrays in FPXS.This study proposes two high-efficiency MC projection simulators for FPXS:a graphics processing unit(GPU)-based phase-space sampling MC(gPSMC)simulator and GPU-based fluence sampling MC(gFSMC)simulator.The two simulators comprise three components:imaging-system modeling,photon initialization,and physical-interaction simulations in the phantom.Imaging-system modeling was performed by modeling the FPXS,imaging geometry,and detector.The gPSMC simulator samples the initial photons from the phase space,whereas the gFSMC simulator performs photon initialization from the calculated energy spectrum and fluence map.The entire process of photon interaction with the geometry and arrival at the detector was simulated in parallel using multiple GPU kernels,and projections based on the two simulators were calculated.The accuracies of the two simulators were evaluated by comparing them with the conventional analytical ray-tracing approach and acquired projections,and the efficiencies were evaluated by comparing the computation time.The results of simulated and realistic experiments illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed gPSMC and gFSMC simulators in the projection calculation of various phantoms. 展开更多

Energy storage batteries can smooth the volatility of renewable energy sources.The operating conditions during power grid integration of renewable energy can affect the performance and failure risk of battery energy storage system(BESS).However,the current modeling of grid-connected BESS is overly simplistic,typically only considering state of charge(SOC)and power constraints.Detailed lithium(Li)-ion battery cell models are computationally intensive and impractical for real-time applications and may not be suitable for power grid operating conditions.Additionally,there is a lack of real-time batteries risk assessment frameworks.To address these issues,in this study,we establish a thermal-electric-performance(TEP)coupling model based on a multitime scale BESS model,incorporating the electrical and thermal characteristics of Li-ion batteries along with their performance degradation to achieve detailed simulation of grid-connected BESS.Additionally,considering the operating characteristics of energy storage batteries and electrical and thermal abuse factors,we developed a battery pack operational riskmodel,which takes into account SOCand charge-discharge rate(Cr),using amodified failure rate to represent the BESS risk.By integrating detailed simulation of energy storage with predictive failure risk analysis,we obtained a detailed model for BESS risk analysis.This model offers a multi-time scale integrated simulation that spans month-level energy storage simulation times,day-level performance degradation,minutescale failure rate,and second-level BESS characteristics.It offers a critical tool for the study of BESS.Finally,the performance and risk of energy storage batteries under three scenarios—microgrid energy storage,wind power smoothing,and power grid failure response—are simulated,achieving a real-time state-dependent operational risk analysis of the BESS. 展开更多

In the existing power system with a large-scale hydrogen storage system,there are problems such as low efficiency of electric-hydrogen-electricity conversion and single modeling of the hydrogen storage system.In order to improve the hydrogen utilization rate of hydrogen storage system in the process of participating in the power grid operation,and speed up the process of electric-hydrogen-electricity conversion.This article provides a detailed introduction to the mathematical and electrical models of various components of the hydrogen storage unit,and also establishes a charging and discharging efficiency model that considers the temperature and internal gas partial pressure of the hydrogen storage unit.These models are of great significance for studying and optimizing gas storage technology.Through these models,the performance of gas storage units can be better understood and improved.These studies are very helpful for improving energy storage efficiency and sustainable development.The factors affecting the charge-discharge efficiency of hydrogen storage units are analyzed.By integrating the models of each unit and considering the capacity degradation of the hydrogen storage system,we can construct an efficiency model for a large hydrogen storage system and power conversion system.In addition,the simulation models of the hydrogen production system and hydrogen consumption system were established in MATLAB/Simulink.The accuracy and effectiveness of the simulation model were proved by comparing the output voltage variation curve of the simulation with the polarization curve of the typical hydrogen production system and hydrogen consumption system.The results show that the charge-discharge efficiency of the hydrogen storage unit increases with the increase of operating temperature,and H2 and O2 partial voltage have little influence on the charge-discharge efficiency.In the process of power conversion system converter rectification operation,its efficiency decreases with the increase of temperature,while in the process of inverter operation,power conversion system efficiency increases with the increase of temperature.Combined with the efficiency of each hydrogen storage unit and power conversion system converter,the upper limit of the capacity loss of different hydrogen storage units was set.The optimal charge-discharge efficiency of the hydrogen storage system was obtained by using the Cplex solver at 36.46%and 66.34%. 展开更多

Land use/land cover represents the interactive and comprehensive influences between human activities and natural conditions,leading to potential conflicts among natural and human-related issues as well as among stakeholders.This study introduced economic standards for farmers.A hybrid approach(CA-ABM)of cellular automaton(CA)and an agent-based model(ABM)was developed to effectively deal with social and land-use synergic issues to examine human–environment interactions and projections of land-use conversions for a humid basin in south China.Natural attributes and socioeconomic data were used to analyze land use/land cover and its drivers of change.The major modules of the CA-ABM are initialization,migration,assets,land suitability,and land-use change decisions.Empirical estimates of the factors influencing the urban land-use conversion probability were captured using parameters based on a spatial logistic regression(SLR)model.Simultaneously,multicriteria evaluation(MCE)and Markov models were introduced to obtain empirical estimates of the factors affecting the probability of ecological land conversion.An agent-based CA-SLR-MCE-Markov(ABCSMM)land-use conversion model was proposed to explore the impacts of policies on land-use conversion.This model can reproduce observed land-use patterns and provide links for forest transition and urban expansion to land-use decisions and ecosystem services.The results demonstrated land-use simulations under multi-policy scenarios,revealing the usefulness of the model for normative research on land-use management. 展开更多

Previous work introduced a coaxial dual-rotor-support scheme for aeroengines,and a physical model featuring a high-speed flexible inner rotor with a substantial length-to-diameter ratiowas designed. Then a finite element (FE) dynamic model based on the Timoshenko beam elements and rigid bodykinematics of the dual-rotor system is modeled, with the Newmark method and Newton–Raphson method used forthe numerical calculation to study the dynamic characteristics of the system. Three different simulation models,including beam-based FE (1D) model, solid-based FE (3D) model, and transfer matrix model, were designed tostudy the characteristics of mode and the critical speed characteristic of the dual-rotor system. The unbalancedresponse of the dual-rotor system was analyzed to study the influence of mass unbalance on the rotor system. Theeffect of different disk unbalance phases and different speed ratios on the dynamic characteristics of the dual-rotorsystem was investigated in detail. In this paper we utilize 3D physical seismic modeling experiments. A 3D channel sand body physical seismic model is constructed and two acquisition systems are designed with wide azimuth (16 lines) and narrow azimuth (8 lines) to model 3D seismic data acquisition and processing seismic work flows. From analysis of migrated time slice data with high quality and small size, we conclude that when the overlying layers are smooth and lateral velocities have little change, both wide and narrow azimuth observation systems in 3D acquisition can be used for obtaining high precision imaging and equivalent resolution of the channel sand body. 展开更多

The derivation of the system-level model is elaborated and simulation results are obtained from the implementation of those strategies on the fabricated silicon force-balance MEMS accelerometer. The mathematical model presented is implemented in VHDL- AMS and SIMULINK TM,respectively. The simulation results from the two approaches are compared and show a slight difference. Using VHDL-AMS is flexible,reusable,and more accurate. But there is not a mature solver developed for the language and this approach takes more time, while the simulation model can be easily built and quickly evaluated using SIMULINK. 展开更多

Parkinson’s disease is chara cterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars com pacta,and although restoring striatal dopamine levels may improve symptoms,no treatment can cure or reve rse the disease itself.Stem cell therapy has a regenerative effect and is being actively studied as a candidate for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.Mesenchymal stem cells are considered a promising option due to fewer ethical concerns,a lower risk of immune rejection,and a lower risk of teratogenicity.We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the therapeutic effects of mesenchymal stem cells and their derivatives on motor function,memory,and preservation of dopamine rgic neurons in a Parkinson’s disease animal model.We searched bibliographic databases(PubMed/MEDLINE,Embase,CENTRAL,Scopus,and Web of Science)to identify articles and included only pee r-reviewed in vivo interve ntional animal studies published in any language through J une 28,2023.The study utilized the random-effect model to estimate the 95%confidence intervals(CI)of the standard mean differences(SMD)between the treatment and control groups.We use the systematic review center for laboratory animal expe rimentation’s risk of bias tool and the collaborative approach to meta-analysis and review of animal studies checklist for study quality assessment.A total of 33studies with data from 840 Parkinson’s disease model animals were included in the meta-analysis.Treatment with mesenchymal stem cells significantly improved motor function as assessed by the amphetamine-induced rotational test.Among the stem cell types,the bone marrow MSCs with neurotrophic factor group showed la rgest effect size(SMD[95%CI]=-6.21[-9.50 to-2.93],P=0.0001,I^(2)=0.0%).The stem cell treatment group had significantly more tyrosine hydroxylase positive dopamine rgic neurons in the striatum([95%CI]=1.04[0.59 to 1.49],P=0.0001,I^(2)=65.1%)and substantia nigra(SMD[95%CI]=1.38[0.89 to 1.87],P=0.0001,I^(2)=75.3%),indicating a protective effect on dopaminergic neurons.Subgroup analysis of the amphetamine-induced rotation test showed a significant reduction only in the intracranial-striatum route(SMD[95%CI]=-2.59[-3.25 to-1.94],P=0.0001,I^(2)=74.4%).The memory test showed significant improvement only in the intravenous route(SMD[95%CI]=4.80[1.84 to 7.76],P=0.027,I^(2)=79.6%).Mesenchymal stem cells have been shown to positively impact motor function and memory function and protect dopaminergic neurons in preclinical models of Parkinson’s disease.Further research is required to determine the optimal stem cell types,modifications,transplanted cell numbe rs,and delivery methods for these protocols. 展开更多

Background:The Mongolian gerbil is an excellent laboratory animal for preparing the cerebral ischemia model due to its inherent deficiency in the circle of Willis.However,the low incidence and unpredictability of symptoms are caused by numerous complex variant types of the circle.Additionally,the lack of an evaluation system for the cer-ebral ischemia/reperfusion(I/R)model of gerbils has shackled the application of this model.Methods:We created a symptom-oriented principle and detailed neurobehavioral scoring criteria.At different time points of reperfusion,we analyzed the alteration in locomotion by rotarod test and grip force score,infarct volume by triphenyltetrazo-lium chloride(TTC)staining,neuron loss using Nissl staining,and histological charac-teristics using hematoxylin-eosin(H&E)straining.Results:With a successful model rate of 56%,32 of the 57 gerbils operated by our method harbored typical features of cerebral I/R injury,and the mortality rate in the male gerbils was significantly higher than that in the female gerbils.The suc-cessfully prepared I/R gerbils demonstrated a significant reduction in motility and grip strength at 1 day after reperfusion;formed obvious infarction;exhibited typi-cal pathological features,such as tissue edema,neuronal atrophy and death,and vacuolated structures;and were partially recovered with the extension of reperfu-sion time.Conclusion:This study developed a new method for the unilateral common carotid artery ligation I/R model of gerbil and established a standardized evaluation system for this model,which could provide a new cerebral I/R model of gerbils with more practical applications. 展开更多
